It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts.
Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

12.07.2018 -- 0.33l bottle from leclerc in strasbourg rivetoile, 1.70€, bb 07.12.2020. pours a clear amber with a steady off-white head. aroma of raisins, barleywine, rye bread, booze. flavour of oak, herbal bitter, rye bread. sweetish but not cloying. long bitter finish.
Dunkelrote, bräunliche Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Malziger, röstmalziger, fruchtiger Geruch. Geschmacklich malzig, röstmalzig, fruchtig, schwach hopfig. Mittlere Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit und aufkommender Trockenheit, spürbar alkoholisch, jedoch gut eingebunden, mittlerer bis voller Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.
Fles 33cl thuis. Krachtig, kruidig, bttertonen, zoettonen. Redelijk complex. Lange nasmaak. (9-2013).
Bière forte avec une mousse bien épaisse, peu de bulles fines. Pas une bière qui restera dans mes préférées.
Ciemnobursztynowa barwa piwa. Niezła kremowa piana. Aromat słodowy, ciemne owoce, melasa. W smaku słodowo, trochę pikantnych przypraw, w tle nuty palone. Trochę słodkie, finisz wytrawny.
Cerveza francesa. Aroma agradable a cereal. Poco espuma que desaparece. Poco carbonatada. Color ámbar muy bonito. Gusto a malta, levadura, barrica. Retrogusto un poco a alcohol. Un medio entre una ale belga y una bock. Interesante.
En rigtig god øl med masser af samg. En stor sødme der indeholder mærke toner af karamel. Virker ikke spritet selvom der er mange procenter i, men der fornemmes en varme fra øllet.
Clear dark amber beer with small thick light beige head. Aroma is sweet fruits and licorice. Little bit yeasty also. Taste is burnt bread with licorice. Starting warming sweet and slightly bitter. Aftertaste dry bitter, alcohol well hidden. Overall quite ok beer.

Aroma a levaduras belgas,sabor a medio camino entre una doble malta comercial española y triple belga, con sus toque de malta tostada y su final tipico de cerveza rubia belga algo alcoholizada. Buena
Thuis uit een flesje, zeer aangenaam. Aroma niet heel bijzonder. Mooie donker amber kleur, goed donkerbeige schuim. Lekker nasmaak, zoetje.
Удивительно неприятный аромат. Запах очень спертый и сырой. Удивительно но вкус диаметрально противоположный по удовольствию. Он достаточно резок на хмелевую горечь. Пиво весьма сладкое- карамельное. Собственно больше никаких оттенков я не заметил. В послевкусие есть весьма чувственная горчинка.

Amber colour with a thin white head.
Aroma is grain, sweet, straw, slightly yeasty.
Taste is grain, malt, caramel, bread, honey.
Medium body, average carbonation.
Bottle. Tan head on a deep amber-brown body. Some honey, light roasted malts, flowers, bread, caramel, dried plums. Light sweetness, turns bitter, a bit tart. Medium body, creamy, soft but pearly carbonation. Very high drinkability with a well hidden ABV. Nice.
Muy poco aroma, color dorado. Tiene cuerpo, y notas de sabor a metal y con el alcohol algo presente. Final un poco amargo. Muy similar a las Belgian Strong Ale.
Poured from a 330ml bottle. Head disappears immediately, leaving a slightly fizzy, amber liquid in the glass, looking a bit like black tea. Very minimal aroma, mainly Im just getting a bit of Belgian yeastiness. Tastes straight away like a Belgian strong ale, with all that musty. oaky yeast flavours going on, but as she goes on you start to notice another level to this beer, where there is a bit of an acidic bite and some bitterness. The alcohol is there, but not too prominent. Its a bit lighter and easier to drink than a Dubbel or a Tripel. Quite interesting, worth trying.

Taste is medium sweet, soft bitter with a moderate dry finish. Notes of caramel, malt, grain, metallic. Texture is oily, medium bodied woth moderate carbonation
33cl bottle split with Gyhallmanti. Appearance: clear amber with medium off-white head. Aroma: caramel, grains, dusty and metal. Taste: fairly high sweetness and fairly low bitterness. Notes of caramel, malts, raisins and metal. Palate: medium bodied, watery to sticky texture and lively carbonation.
This was a truly tasty red ale, didn't expect much, got a tasty surprise.

Bottle from Total Wine in Mountain View, CA. Aroma is caramel, oak, fruity malts, sweet floral. Taste is soft carbonation, sweet, oaky, herbal, some herbal liqueur qualities. Great flavors and mouthfeel, reminded me of some solid Belgians in that way, but a bit too sweet.
Tasty, a positive surprise! I wasn’t expecting much from this one, it turned out to be a pretty satisfying drink. Rather strong but smooth in the same time, nice aroma with hints of oak, butter, and various hops. A bit short on the aftertaste, but beside that, it’s really cool. APPROVED BY TAVERNY’S BLACK METAL CREW!
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Floral, hay aroma. Amber. Thick creamy head,no surprise it’s very bubbly. Bitter - this gradually gains in strength. A hint of sweetness. Malty. Some grapefruit and caramel. Edit: after a gap I returned to the beer and found that the sweetness grew more and more prominent, wiping out the bitterness. Medium bodied. Slick. Lively carbonation. Long dry finish. Was suspicious when I noticed the Les Miserables tie-in, however a good refreshing beer.
Bière transparente, rousse comme une belle Irlandaise, avec des reflets de feu et une mousse ivoire tirant sur le jaune pâle. Appétissant ! Nez qui joue clairement sur deux tableaux : des malts légèrement caramélisés (on aime les bières ambrées dans le Nord...) et un houblonnage plutôt direct, sans fioriture. Il en résulte un assemblage assez simpliste comme toutes les Bières de Garde qui sont initialement des bières de paysans. On a donc des arômes de grain, de foin, de paille fraiche, des notes de citron et d’orange, de caramel, de miel, de gelée de coin. En bouche, texture très souple, avec mal de corps, le tout bien soutenu par un alcool puissant qui titre (tout de même) à 8.5% abv. L’amertume est légère, elle s’exprime plutôt en arrière bouche, sournoisement, et laisse une grande place en première intention aux touches maltées et aux sucres résiduels, relativement nombreux. La carbonatation est vive et donne du peps à l’ensemble, tandis que les levures sont nettes, fines, tout en ayant beaucoup d’expressivité. On retrouve un côté résineux et boisé sur la longueur qui s’associe très bien à l’amertume et aux flaveurs de caramel et de grain. Le final est relativement long, sur l’alcool, une pointe d’acidité pas franchement désagréable, les saveurs de céréales et un côté huileux voir beurré qui donne de la souplesse au palet et qui tire le tout sur des notes de bon croissant au beurre bien chaud. Peu ou pas de touches fruitées hélas, mais c’est plus l’apanage des bières encore plus au Nord, à savoir issues de ce beau pays qu’est la Belgique. Une bonne bière de garde, très buvable avec du cœur et du corps qui honore ce personnage emblématique de la littérature Française qu’est Gavroche : simplicité, jeunesse et malice à la fois. AROMA: moderate malt aroma with a sweet component and grainy and slight toasty-bready/toffee notes. slight alcohol note (peppery). APPEARANCE: ambar color and clear. medium ivory head with good retention. TASTE: malty flavor with medium presence of toasty-bready notes. faint earthy hop presence. medium-low bitterness with a dry finish. slight malt balance, slight alcohol notes (peppery) and faint diacetyl (butterscotch). PALATE: medium body with medium carbonation. slight alcohol warth. OVERALL: an interesting biere-de-garde.
Un must ! Forte mais pourtant légère et agréable au palet. Une vraie bonne surprise
Bottle at Micky’s. Pours deep Amber with huge, frothy white head. Malt and berries. Very sweet and slightly tart. A dark figgy caramel comes through with an acidic apple aftertaste. Great with Mexican or blue cheese.
Bottle, 33cL. Home. Bought at a local supermarket. A golden amber clear beer with a big white head ; good retention. Caramel, candied fruits, toast, alcohol. Medium sweet, warming, light dry bitter ; light fresh wind. Good body, light to medium oily texture, average carbonation, heavy warming light dry finish. Overall, ok ; rough around the edges ; indeed, better betweeen 10 and 12°C.

Közepes, tömör, tartós hab, rézszínű, szűrt. Karamelles, enyhén konyakos illat. Karamelles, kandiscukros ízvilág pici fűszerrel, enyhe konyakos aromával. Testes, erős, pezsgős szénsavtartalom, enyhe keserű. Kellemes, élénk ízvilágú sör.
