Géants Saison Voisin

Géants Saison Voisin

For more than a century, Saison Voisin was beloved in the famous Hainaut region of Belgium until, in 1989, Leon Voisin closed the little brewery where it was made. The Brasserie des Géants, or ’Giants Brewery’, revived this rustic and historic ale with Monsieur Voisin’s blessing in the year 2001, using an original recipe from 1884. It is light on the tongue and refreshingly fruity and bitter, as a true saison should be.

3.3 Hazy yellow colour, white foam. Aroma of sweet malts, notes of grass, easy drinkable. Medium carbonation.
3.7 Bottle. Cloudy amber colour. Big airy head. Aroma: honey, yeast, spice, some malts. Light to medium body. Dry taste. Fairly yeasty. Spicy. Decent hopping. Not bad at all.
3.0 Ongefilterd biertje.
Honing, karamel, licht kruidig. Droge afdronk. Licht waterig. M: Doordrinker met medium carbonatie.
4.7 Wonderful beer, light, bitter, balanced, and tasty. My favorite saison, the most bitter saison I have tasted.
3.3 @ Brussels, Belgium Beer Trip. pour golden without a head. aromas of grape, lemon, and wood barrel. taste medium sour, bitter notes. medium bodied, lively carbonation, medium sour finish <><> Beeroda.hu - Beer Tasting Sessions @ Budapest, Hungary <><>
3.6 Bottle 33cl. poured into a lager glass. Fruity sourish nose; slightly hazy medium amber, tall loose soapy off-white head, good retention, good lacing; aroma peach, apricot, barnyard, bit caramel; taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, grainy, fruity, bit yeast; bittersweet aftertaste, bit grassy, light spicy notes; light to medium body, watery texture, average carbonation; very nice, smooth and quaffable.
3.2 (Géants Saison Voisin) Bottle 330ml at home, served into a small tulip, ABV 5% Copper orange colour on the body, crystal clear, with a tall and thick white head on top, very good retention. Aroma has light caramel, grass, some apricot. Taste is mildly bitter with dust, grass, apricot, metallic notes, light caramel, straw. Medium thin body, highly carbonated. Okay.
3.4 Birra dal colore ambrato. Schiuma bianca, fine e persistente. All?olfatto sentori erbacei con note mielate.
3.4 F: big, off-white, good retention. C: dark amber, orange against the light, hazy. A: light hoppy, light fruity, light caramel, spicy, yeast. T: malt, grassy bitterness, fruity, caramel, bready, spicy, orange peels, medium body, medium to high carbonation, good, enjoyed, 33cl bottle from Carrefour market - Saint-Michel @ Etterbeek, Brussels.
3.5 Blonde, mousse persistante. Amertume, fraîcheur, houblon. Tend verd une ipa. Honnête dans l’ensemble.
3.0 Tap at Moeder Lambic. Quite thin bodied, with light oxidation and metallicness. Classic saisony spiciness is present, but rather light. Good but rather average.
3.7 Tap at Moeder Original. Amber color with thick off-white head. Aroma of caramel, fruits, spices. Nice fruity taste with caramel malt, spices, Brett. Refreshing, good.
3.4 Bottle at home. Clear dark golden with good sized off white head. Light dried plums and raisins, dry grainy touch, light citrus and apricot, nice grassy notes. There’s some weird bitter dusty notes and a weird lasting plastic bitter finish. Otherwise quite nice, the malts are pretty dry, it has nice hops but not much yeasty esters for a saison. Medium bodied, dry feel and soft fizzy carbonation.
3.5 10.10.2016 - Not as good as Dupont but this is also a nice Saison. Yeasty fresh taste (hints of brett?) and a dry finish.
3.2 33cl bottle shared with kermis. Thin creamy off white head. very hazy amber pour. A decent saison.
3.3 Aroma mostly floral, with a bit of honey, apricot and grain Orange color, nice head Low sweetness, medium-low bitterness, feels kinda empty in flavor, still, its pretty refreshing
3.2 light old hoppy aroma, golden, clear, white foam, light sweetness, medium bitterness, light body, oily feel, fizzy, long hoppy finish,
3.4 Dark golden coloured and unclear. Has a white head, lasting. Aroma is yeasty, spicy, nutmeg?
3.1 Bottle at Café de Hazeburg, Ermelo. Aroma is light spicy Saison yeast and pale malt with a hint of funk. Also has a touch of soap. Flavour is lightly sweetish and moderate bitter. Body is medium, has a fairly dry finish. Decent but ordinary Saison.
Geur: licht hoppig. Smaak: droog bitterig met klein beetje moutzoetigheid. Medium koolzuurprikkel. Lekkere doordrinker.
3.0 330ml bottle, BB May 2017. Hazy sunset orange pour with small tight head that doesn’t linger. Expected peppery/spicy and funky aromas are there, with honey and orange zest. The taste has the standard barnyard notes, also honey sweetness, earthy hop bitterness, spicy phenols, orange zest fruitiness. Does taste a little watered down, however. Quite light bodied and acidic. Not bad as a table beer but pales in comparison to other more flavourful saisons.
3.1 Oranje geel bier zonder schuim.
3.4 Nov 2015 - Bottle share at Moeder Lambic, as ’Géants Saison Voisin’. Very dark orange, still, clear, small foamy head, light lacing. Aroma is biscuity, floral. Body is medium, smooth, soft carbonation. Taste is smooth biscuity malt, light burnt notes, straw, salty, soft bitterness. Decent.
3.2 Bottle split at Moeder Lambic St Giles, 20/11/15. Clear golden with a well appointed off white covering. Nose is straw, citric peel, earthy, light funk, candied orange. Taste comprises yeast esters, straw, light funk, bready, bitter orange, grain. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Pretty basic saison but ok.
3.0 Another beer from the "Orval" pack bought at Mi Orge Mi Houblon Colour is indeed orval like. Taste is hoppy light refreshing. Nice beer.
