3.6330ml bottle into a Leffe glass. I totally bought this on the basis of there being a hedgehog on the label. How could you not? Pours a gorgeous deep ruby red with a fluffy white head. Rich malty aroma with dried fruits and maybe a bit of sour apple. Malty and sweet flavour. Sticky on the palate and a bit bitter finish. Pretty solid.
3.3Typical Belgian dubbel beer. Very malty and sweet, with some spices and dark fruits. Been there, done that.
3.0Donker bruine kleur, troebel met enorme creme kleurige kraag. Aroma is zoet zuur, wat caramel. Smaak is wat wrang maar ook licht zoet met wat bitter.
4.5Clear red/brown, cappuccino rocky head
Che status, toffee, light caramel, milk chocolate, malts caramelized, passito
Sweet, astringent finish, slightly bitter aftertaste
Winey, almonds, raisins, caramel, chestnut honey
Very good beer, very well balanced
Palais sec. Bel équilibre. Sympa!
3.3Bottle 33cl, a dark beer with huge head and ok lacing. Nose is on yeast with sourish background. Aroma is on caramel, licorice, cherry juice, light sourish notes, coffee notes, spices, quite yeasty, cinnamon light caramel. Finish has roasted notes with red vine finish !
3.033cl bottle.
APPEARANCE: dark brown beer, large stable off white head.
NOSE: grains, malts, some hops, caramel, herbs.
TASTE: caramel, herbs, green malts, not so good in general... Not very interesting.
3.0Bottle. Cake dough and some spice in the nose. Light brown color. Some fuzzy sort of fruitiness, maybe dates and prunes, and some oxidation. Ends up fizzy and lightly bitter. Mild, pleasant, and undistinguished. A fairly uninteresting dubbel.
3.6330 ml bottle from Premier Wine and Spirits. Pours a murky dark orangey brown with good-sized light tan head. Aroma is gentle dark fruits, toffee and hints of spice. Flavour is quite fruity with some dark, gently sour dried fruit and stewed apple, brown sugar, toffee and some spicy notes. Lively carbonation. Nice.
3.4Amber with a large frothy white head. Sour aroma with citrus and herb. Sweet herb, spice, clove and cinnamon flavour. Bitter tangy finish.
3.2Bottle, 7.5%. Deep dark amber with big tan head. Aroma is malt, fruit, caramel, yeast and toasted. Flavour malt, caramel, medium sweet, yeast, little dark fruits, little toasted and a little bitter.
4.0Brune acajou, effervescence moyenne, col crémeux-nuageux. De bons malts torréfiés, une présence de fruits foncés, quelques notes de réglisse pour l’amertume et un petite quelque chose en plus font de l’Urchon une très bonne brune!
3.0Brown beer with a white head. Aroma with caramel flavour is the same. Special, not bad but not really good either. (Bottle 33cl)
3.7330ml bottle. Cloudy brown pour with some red highlights and a persistent beige head. Dark fruit and rum cake on the nose with a healthy spice note. Lots of brown sugar and fruit on the palate. Finishes a little warm.
3.6Dark amber body with creamy large tan head, looking very nice. Interesting aroma that mixes bread, cacao, woody hops and peanut cookies. Yes, peanut butter even. Probably the roasted barley malts? Test is slightly more normal with roasted yet malts bringing in toffee. Rich active Belgian yeast to go with this, brown sugar to top it off yet no real alcohol recognisable. Ending is shorter than expected. Complex enough and for sweet dark yet not too alcoholic ale it’s very decent. Fuller than most dubbels. (33cl bottle from Bierparadijs)
4.4Doskonale ciemno brazowe ale. Alkohol niewyczuwalny, jakby go wogole nie bylo. Wspaniala gesta i kremowa piana. Malo nagazowane jak na belgijskie piwo. Wspanialy piszkoptowo-piernikowy aromat. Smak takze wspanialy karmelowo piernikowy. Podobny w smaku do najlepszych abbaye dubbel.
3.4A normal amber dark ale with hints of dried fruits, cara-malts and spices, soft mouthfeel, too carbonated for the genre.
3.42011 Vintage 33 cl. bottle split thx! to Kraddel. Ruby amber brownish, okay off-white head. Smell is sweet, light molasses, spices, brown sugar, red gummy candy, near-wine in a non-sour way. Bitter herbs, light candy, touch syrup, near-metallic bitter, quite a bit of cough syrup, brown sugar, root beer. Lightly fizzy, touch metallic body. Probably went lightly south but intriguing still.
3.8Pours clear/ very light brown
White foam
No scent at all
Taste is earthy , some sugar , unique ( to me) taste profile . I get notes of chocolat as well .. Unexpectedly good !
3.1330ml bottle. Clear amber colour with average, frothy to macropore, half-way lasting, white head. Fruity aroma with notes of red and dark berries, a yeasty touch. Taste is minimally spicy yeasty, slightly fruity, red and blue berries, blue grapes.
2.2330 ml bottle. Rated on 2.3.2013.
Gusher. Pours a deep brown colour with a white beigeish head. Aroma is repulsive with sweetness, sewer and dough. Flavour of spices, heavy nuttiness, heavy sweetness, roasted malts, dough, yeast and mold. Light bodied, high carbonation. Something is seriously wrong with this bottle. It seems that I’m not the only one who has encountered such a bottle.
4.1This is a pretty good brown. It doesn’t something that is pretty difficult in a style crowded with high quality beers, its distinctive. Most of this distinctiveness comes out in the color of the beer (slightly red) and the flavor (a bit more berry fruitiness than you’d expect). Overall, pretty good!
3.1Hazy amber color with small head. Aroma is fruits, yeast, sweet. Flavor is sweet, caramel, yeast.
3.4Reddish colour. Aroma has some bready, yeasty notes. Also some woody, malty tones akin to a whiskey. These come through in the flavour too together with some sweeter fruity elements. Quite a warming finish.
3.3Bottle (33 cl) from beerplanet.be. Shady copper, medium off-white head. Spicy and fruity aroma with red berries, and some soft toasted notes. Meidum bodied, medium carbonation. Dry with medium bitterness.
3.722/VII/2012 - 33cl bottle @ Erwin’s place - BB: III/13- (2012-740) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!
Clear ruby red beer, big irregular off-white head, unstable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing. Aroma: forest fruits, caramel, elder berries, some citrus fruits. MF: good lively carbon, maybe a little too much, medium body. Taste: mocha and bitter chocolate first, touch of caramel, dried fruits, bitter hoppy touch, little vinous. Aftertaste: mocha, bitter hops, cocoa powder, little fruity, bit vinous again, mocha.
3.4Very much like a stronger version of an English brown ale, taste was of corn, yeast, malts and cereals
2.933cl bottle. Strong hazy, brown liquid with tanned and medium to big head. Nose : toffee roasted malts. Sweet smell of tart. Some spices like cinnamon and a bit of clove. Sip : oily , slow to medium body with tingling carbonation. Sweet tart and toffee start. Roasted transition and the end continues with sweetness and toffee. Not bad.
3.2Bottled. Darkish reddy brown. Aromas of spice, yeast, and alcohol. Flavor is mostly alcohol with dark fruit, hints of spice and citrus. Mouthfeel is dry..
