2.6 On tap at the bar across the street from My Airbnb in Schenectady. Crystal clear deep yellow with a thin bubbly white head. Earthy grainy corny notes not the worst beer I had on this trip but far from the best.
2.1 24 fl oz can. Pours clear and golden yellow. Small white head. Aroma is grassy and slight straw. Flat cornish, dry. Grassy and straw finish.
1.7 I like macro pale lagers to an extent but this was worse than most. I love their cream ale so I figured I’d give this a shot. Terrible. No aroma. Light clear bubbly gold with a one finger white head. Taste was literally like carbonated water with a hint of sugar. Mild carbonation.
1.9 Can, malty fruity skunky aroma, malty fruity vanila flavor with a coarse unpleasant bitterness. Just your usual usless macro lager.
3.4 I would have to say that this is an awesome pale lager to drink after a hard days work, out in the yard laboring on a hard day, or just to sit back and relax. It’s a lighter tasting beer that is a delight to have. From time to time, there are a few cases where it carries more of a metallic aroma (when from a can) than I would prefer but it quickly dissipates.
3.0 Aroma is malts/pale malts, mild corn and slight fruit. The flavor is typical AAL, no nasty notes, a plus. As expected, didn’t reinvent the AAL but like most Genesee beers, it was very drinkable.
4.1 This is my "go to" pale lager beer, especially when you really want a nice clean thirst quencher. I occasionally enjoy IPAs and Belgian wheat beers that have much more intense flavor, but this beer is my favorite AAL and also my favorite Macrobrew beer. If you taste test this side by side against Bud, Miller, Coors, Pabst, Labatts, Molson, or any other macrobrew lager- Genny Beer beats them all. Super clean, lightly hopped, no after taste whatsoever - as log as you make sure you buy it in bottles. Here’s the best part - a 12 pack of Genny bottles is $6.50 here in Rochester NY (Wegmans).
1.9 Crowler thanks to Jeff. Light yellow color with a thin white head. Creamed corn. Average carbonation.
2.3 Can. Clear pale yellow body, medium white head with ok retention and decent amount of lacing. Aroma of hay, grains, hard candies and canned corn. Taste of sweet grains, mineral water, sweet corn and some metallic notes. Not the worst lager.
2.2 473 ml can from LCBO. Pours a clear pale golden colour with average white head. Aroma is light and grainy with some corn sweetness. Flavour is mellow graininess with gently sweet corn fairly prominent. No real hop presence - they must still be in the Yakima Valley. Light to medium body. Meh (though there are worse North American adjunct lagers).
2.4 24 oz can @ Party Town / Florence KY --- "Classic look" white can with red label - nice. Clear light amber color, 3" white head that drops slowly to a full cover, hanging strands of lace. Taste is Sweet malt and (probably) corn that moves effortlessly through medium fizz to light bittering that shares the finish with the grain. Not a lot, but one of the better old regional brews.
1.5 Pours dirty yellow with no head to speak of at all. Very watery. Sweet taste and skanky after taste. Leaves bad taste in your mouth that lingers. Not very pleasant. Body is pretty thin with no texture worth mentioning. Not a great beer on any account.
3.4 Genesee is one of the best lagers money can buy.much better than any of the majors
2.4 Refrigerated 16 oz. can poured into a snifter. Clear pale yellow with small white head. Aroma is light grain, light body, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is light grain.
1.7 Bottle@ABC Tavern, Cleveland, USA. Light aroma of malts. Dirty yellow color with medium white head and clear liquid. Light sweet taste with malts. Light body with medium carbonation. Overall, low-quality bulk product.
1.5 12 oz via can at the 1-up on Colfax. Bland aroma of light corn and toasted grain. Similar flavor, adding a hint of lemon and light sugary sweetness. Meh, light bodied and somewhat drinkable overall.
3.5 tallboy from the only place in town that has them. Yes, its cheap but I like the way this stuff tastes, not the carbonation or what kind of barley, whatever, good tasting cheap beer
2.0 thin feel, light body, average carbonation, medium sweetness, pale, ok beeeeeeeeeeeeeer for cheap
2.2 Good beer IF you're broke as hell....lol. 30 pack wil run about $12-15. ....lol....mmmmmm
2.3 Fairly decent head... light tan/yellow clear appearance. Smell is metallic, with a touch of actual beer smell. Not much different than the Genesee Cream Ale overall, a bit less creamy, a bit more pissy. Definitely drinkable.
2.6 Canned from Capital Market. Medium golden in color. Grainy nose with a bit of maltiness. A touch of cardboard as well. Grains and malt dominate. A little bit of grassy hops as well. Not too bad. A little watery.
3.5 Presentation: It was poured from a tall 24oz can into a tall mug. Appearance: The body has a nice deep yellow to light golden color with great clarity. Up top a quickly fading bright white head settles down to just a thin ring of foam at the edge of the glass. Smell: Not much to say here, just some light grassy and wet hay like hops with some corn flake like cereal notes. Taste/Feel: On the palate it slides right down with an average easy drinking light feel. It has the classic American Adjunct Lager flavor, leaning more to the corn like cereal like sweetness. This quickly drys out in the finnish. Notes: This is an average cheap blue collar/retro beer and one that I have had many of.
1.7 Totally the best beer one could taste after all the craft beers have been raided from th cooler
1.7 DATE TASTED: January 11, 2015... GLASSWARE: Ommegang pokal... OCCASION: cataloging my beers of the year--slow-motion spread sheet fun... APPEARANCE: glittering, shimmering golden body; snow white head that frizzles swiftly; sudsy inadequate residue... AROMA: toasty, oaty malts that pluck the nostrils; a secondary biscuit and sweet malts; slightly pungent finish... PALATE: oily, slightly effervescent; overall, a clean glass-emptying kind of lager ...TASTE: sweet, corny and grainy, with a malty base; not very balanced, with the ping that suggests a 40 oz.... OVERALL: when it was 36 cans for $10 (with a $5 mail-in rebate), it was a winner; now, its primary function is lining the top part of my beer fridge to keep its coldness; a mostly tolerable, predictable, unimpressive lager that only goes well after a few better beers have been consumed...
0.9 "Genny Red Eye" it’s called here. Another prototypical pale lager. Low boost. Has the genesee house character of heavy metallic notes and off tastes of metal and dirt. Horrific. Fizzy yellow pour, high carb, low body, low taste. Terrible.
2.2 Sweet corn aroma with a whisper of malt in the background. Clear pale yellow body with a frisky head that does linger for a while. Hard to grasp flavor cause it fades quick. I sense a trace of creamy malt with creamy but lively mouth feel. Leaves you with clean finish like it was hardly there to begin with. Need a cheap beer for chugging, frat parties, girl(or guy) dumped you or any other occasion taste is an after thought than this is the one. Not bad tasting just don’t expect a lot.
1.9 "possibly nostalgia is causing me to rate this bottle of beer, but many were put down playing softball or baseball in upstate NY, and it wasn’t too bad in the summer heat. not really a "good" beer, but i wasn’t as much of a snob then as i am now."
2.6 Poured a chilled 1 into a 12 oz. beer mug from a 355 ml can; color of a very light gold; minimal layer of head; sparse effervescence; kinda bland tasting, to me; overall, however, one of the liquor establishments i visit had a 30 pack that @ like forty 4 pennies a can; a solid, inexpensive new york state of mind brew. as an aside, Rochester had one of the most best jazz music stations that one could listen to during very late night (and thanks to AM skip) in mid-america, during that last century.
0.9 Bottle - 355ml. Bland, pale blond body with heavy carbonation and an instantly fading white bubbly head. Weak malty/hoppy aroma with corny hints. Its thin taste carries some metallic and rotten grass notes. Finish is non-existent. Useless.
1.5 No aroma whatsoever! Kinda resembles a beer in appearance - has a soft white head that lasts for more than a minute. The taste isn’t off putting but there just isn’t anything going on. It almost has a beer feel on the palate. W/ all that being said, it’s still a piss pour beer!
