2.6 Tallboy can Appearance: Crystal clear light amber body with a white thin head. Soft white coating after dissipation. Aroma: Mild sweetness, sort of gummy like and corn. Taste: It tastes like corn, carbonation; mildly sweet with a lingering corny malty aftertaste. Palate: Light and crisp. Overall: It tastes like not much,it’s not good, but it is cheap. So there’s that.
1.9 Not the greatest but not the worst. I've had worse beer. Amber color. long lasting head. smell of cereal grains. Don't let this warm up as it becomes a whole new animal.
1.2 Pounder from a discount grocery store in Luray VA: Cow manure smell. Crystal clear amber, thick head. Weak and watery, fusel alcohol. Medium body, soft carbonation. Pretty worthless.
3.1 To me this a a decent brew. I like the stronger stuff and you know from the first sip you got your money’s worth. This is my new "MY" beer.
1.9 710ml can. Pale gold. Aroma is clena, light tangy corn, berry, sugar. Flavor is watery, lightly tart, corn, tangy, mineral water, spritzy carbonation. Not great.
1.3 Not bad if you have nothing else to drink. Watery very light on taste. Something to kill your thirst and that's about it.
1.8 Pretty sad. Seems like it was formulated for people who don’t want the taste of hops (or much else taste-wise) interfering with their enjoyment of a malt beverage. Tastes and smells like almost nothing but there are some faint hints of sugar, toffee, creamed corn and melon. Honeydew, maybe?
2.0 Tall Can: Pours clear, gold, with a whipped white head. Grain, honey, corn aroma. Taste is a little cardboard.......barley malt, sweet....not bad. A slight malt liquor-vibe to it, even though it’s fairly light.......or maybe it’s just a mental projection brought on by my proximity to the big-ass can.
2.7 Canned from Sunshine Market. Light amber in color. Light nose of grain and wet paper. Lightly roasted flavors. A hint of hoppiness. The best ice beer I’ve tried thus far.
1.8 24 oz. can. Pours a clear gold color - deeper than the Labatt Ice - with a white head. Notes of corn and sweet malts, straw, sugar, with a metallic note throughout. Light-bodied, with high carbonation and a mostly dry, somewhat metallic mouthfeel. Not good.
1.4 $1/24oz can from Wegmans. Bargain basement price. Pours a clear gold with a white head that fades quickly. Aromas of metal and corn. Taste is sweet and kind of hot. Flavors of the genesee house yeast (metal, bad esters). Thin and cheap. Scroll past.
2.4 Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a golden yellow color with a one finger white foamy to bubbly sort of white head that dissipated within about thirty seconds. The lacing was somewhat there as it came across in a few and far between sort of messy speckled bubbly way. The smell had some sweet grainy cereal to corn notes. The taste was mainly the same thing. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a long sweet corn aftertaste and finish. Overall, just an okay beer. Honestly, it would probably be a decent budget beer if needed.
3.2 Transfer from BA review on 9-29-12- Poured from can into pint glass Appearance – Pours a nice golden color with a big white head. The head has decent retention lasting for about 5 min. It eventually fades to leave a decent level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a corn and caramel smell. Overall it is on the sweeter side. Taste – The taste begins with some corn sweetness and a bready taste. As it moves on the sweetness fades a bit toward the middle. While the sweet fades, it is only temporary and in the end the corn sweetness returns to leave a sweet bready and corn flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side in terms of creaminess and thickness with a carbonation level that is rather average. Good for the style, as it makes it very easy to drink as it flows through the mouth. Overall – While it is mostly of sweeter corn and some notes of bread and not super flavorful, it is by no way offensive and is very easy to drink. For 24 oz at only $1.29 it’s not too shabby and makes for a good tailgating brew.
1.9 Totally gold. Boring. Rice and a touch of melon. Sweet, touch of vanilla. Meh
1.7 Can (Old Notes)-Pours a medium golden with a small white head. Aroma of corn and sweetness. Taste of the same. Another light bodied brew jumping on the ice wagon.
1.4 Pours a decent golden from the big can. The aroma and taste are garbage. This is a shitty beer.
2.5 24 oz can, served ICE COLD, natch. Nose sweet and faded, lightly malty with light hints of corn. Pours clear orange-golden, much richer and oranger than regular Genny, with a rocky white head. Looks good! Taste is sweet and lightly malty, very one-dimensional, no hops or bitterness, but a soft medium body and only a little metal coming mainly in the finish. Slight corn, no breadiness, and a touch dirty, but there is individual character here to set it a notch above the average malt liquor.
1.8 Fr0m a tall can this p0ured a deep yell0w b0dy with extremely lively bubbling that fed a 0fty head that c0llapsed very sl0wly. The ar0ma had a vague light sweetness, and little else. Quite oily 0n the t0ngue. It tasted 0f a metallic sweetness with a metallic bitterness and a mildly sweet aftertaste. Gassy. This pairs well with sh0ts 0f cheap B0urb0n.
2.1 First of all the price point of the Genesee beers very low end so the beer should not be compared to a micro brew. Like all Genesee beers this has a solid flavor, not unlike a Schlitz, PBR. It has no real aroma and I can’t tell what color it is in my Rose Bowl plastic cup, but it tastes OK cold and over all I would buy it again. It goes down good when I am thirsty.
1.8 For some reason, I have a tendency at the end of the year to sample something that I have very, very low expectations for. When I spied this at the cooler of a gas station, I thought it may fit the bill nicely. 24 oz. can of blah is what I expected. Happy to say that this delivered on many of my expectations! Poured a medium to slightly deep gold - the color you usually find in a very old, light struck light lager. But this was canned. Fizzy head died immediately. My confidence in the expected outcome of the purchase continued to grow as I sniffed the beer - corn and hay. Flavor was corny malts, a bit sweet, and just the faintest hop bitterness to balance things out. Have to say that this was not atrocious. I have had far, far worse beers, and this did at least have some character. But the character present was rather dubious.
2.0 Beautiful looking pour in my Founders snifter. Splashy lace. Really sweet grain, honey, corn. Taste is almost bad meaty/garbage like, really bizarre. The sweetness is not like the nose. This is pretty nasty.
2.1 Can - big foamy head, medium straw color, sweet corn/malt aroma and flavor, mild hops, slightly dry finish - pretty basic cheap pale lager
1.9 24oz can. Clear golden color, thin off-white head. Couple bits of lace. Soft, moderate strength carbonation, with a sharper texture. Lightly dry finish. Corn, bready aroma, some metallic. Light acidicy bite, but it’s mild. Taste is light sour, moderate bitter. Kind of biting, with a terrible aftertaste. Kind of vomity in the finish, but the front is not bad. The finish numbs the mouth. Overall, not as bad as expected. Reasonably drinkable. Great for chillin’ on the porch.
3.1 Presentation: It was poured from a 24oz can into a pint glass. Its abv is listed at 5.5%. Appearance: The body has a clear golden hue with a tall white head. The head fades quickly to thin wispy layer that leaves a little light lacing at the top of the glass. Smell: There is really not much here at all to note. It has just a very light and simple cereal grain nose. Taste/palate: For an Ice Beer this one has a very modest overall flavor. I get some corn cereal and pale grain flavor notes with some light mineral and alcohol notes in the finish. The palate is lighter than most ice beers and overall it slides down quite easy. Notes: Overall it’s fairly clean, light and dry.
2.4 Consumed at room temperature, because that’s how I roll. Aroma: Semi-sweet cereal and... toast (lightly so)? Some fruity esters, maybe pear. Appearance: Transparent copper pour (pale lager, eh?) with quickly dissipating white head. Flavor: Mostly sweet cereal, but not candy sweet; Genny Ice terminates a little on the fruity side. Palate: Medium body, thick texture, lively carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Not too shabby; good cookout beer on the cheap. 1.35 for a 24 oz. can.
2.6 Can shared by Bobby. Clear straw pour with a soapy white head. Nose is sweet grain, corn, and rice. Light metal, some apple, and a touch of grass. Flavor is more of the same. Soap, grain, corn, and rice. Metal, apple, bitter grain husk, and water.
1.9 24oz can thanks to t0rin0. Pours a clear golden with spotty lacing. Medium foam. Nose is green apple, soap. Not so bad though. Taste is soap, apple, watery. Seltzer body, acetaldehyde in droves.
2.5 12 ounce can thanks to Dennis. Pours a bright copper color with a medium white head. A sweet grainy nose. Not very good. Earthy, slick and dirty palate, grains, smoother sweet barley. Hmmm. Not terrible. Iced to 5.5? I want the 55% version......maybe. OK, I’ll rate it.
1.1 Can thanks to adnielsen. Pours a wispy clear straw color. Aroma? Taste is watery and grainy. Nothing worth writing home about
2.0 Big fucken can @ home, courtesy of BlackIPA. Bro always send me wales, Jesus. Pours a clear, golden orange appearance with a cream colored head. Lemon, corn candy, pure natural ingredient aroma. Pretty sweet, candy, lightly fruity, spritzy flavor. Not horrible. More flavor than Bud Light and about equally enjoyable.
