Gentse Strop

Gentse Strop

Proud, headstrong, full of character. Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, gave all these attributes to the rebellious Ghent “stroppendragers” or noose-wearers. And what goes for the people of Ghent also goes for this strong blonde beer.
Nose/aromas: Relatively complex nose with hints of fruit (banana, citrus fruits), herbs, yeast, honey and sweet malt.
Flavour: Refreshing in the mouth, pleasant sweet malty attack followed by hints of herbs and yeast, medium-long finish with subtle, slightly bitter touch.

3.3 Clean crisp. Fairly simple. Slight alchohol warmth. Yeast plays a role. Fizzy.
3.0 Firm head. Mild sweet smell. Mild hoppy taste. A little sweetness. Slightly dry finish. Medium body. Very acessible, easy drinkable.
3.3 Bottle in the pole at Coriasso's, served in a chalice glass. Pours a pale golden colour, big head with long retention, good lacing. Aroma of fruits, citrics, malt, yeast. Medium body, sticky texture, good carbonation. Bitter finish. Taste is flowery, fruity, bubblegum, citrics, notes of sherry wine. Good, but not exceptional. Way behind of a Duvel.
3.4 Having one in Gent. Clear golden with a fast dissipating head. Sweet smell of a Belgian blonde. Sweet taste of a Belgian blonde, but not as strong as others. Almost no carbonation.
3.4 The beer is okay, but for the style I think it lacks the belgian bubblegum yeast flavours. online beerwulf bottle
3.5 Full mouth amer with some acidity, some gas nicely balanced dry finish
2.8 Aroma weak malt, some ethers. Slightly cloudy, yellow with good white foam. On the air esters, pear, a slight bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium body, large carbonation.
4.0 Citrus and honeyed nose but honeyed. nice fruit and tangy flavor but not very round. Bitter finish.
3.9 An amber, foggy Belgian Ale with very high, white head. Aroma is malt, spices, light caramel. Taste is light bitter and sweet. Pearly.
2.4 Bitter, zuur biertje. Bittere nasmaak blijft eindeloos hangen.
3.4 Bottle at Firkin Alehouse Folkestone. Clear gold colour lasting white head. Peach and banana typical Belgian yeast blond ale. With a slightly spicy hippy finish. Cereal aroma. Fine. Drinkable enough.
Piana obfita i trwała, zdobi szkło. Aromat lekki i świeży. Mieszanka słodów i chmielu. Trochę słodkich owoców i cytrusów. W smaku słodowe, przyprawowe, goryczka ziołowa.
3.5 Fles 33cl thuis. Wat zoet. Drogig, licht scherpig. (3-2013).---------------.
3.4 Bottled, 330ml at Volkscafe Sint Jacobs, Bruges, West Flanders, Belgium. Delivered to the table with the full hangman's noose rig with panache. Gold with white head. Quite a yeasty, nasal, pear drop beer, fruity banana then a honeyed note. Quite deep in flavour. It's fine.
3.8 Goudblond bier met wit schuim. Geur: mout, granen, licht hoppig, wat floraal. Smaak: licht hopbitter, ietwat gistkarakter en ietwat fruitig. Afdronk: droog, licht floraal hopbitter. Goede koolzuurprikkel.
2.8 .33l bottle. Hazy golden to yellow beer with thick creamy head. Taste is kinda shallow (though i drank it after a really spicy tripel). Honey, malt, floral hop. Finish is sweet and slightly bitter. Carbonation is medium to high and moutfheel is a little sticky.
3.2 Bitter after taste with large foam head.
3.6 Usually not into hops, but this worked. Bottle; Wilrijk.
3.8 Magnum 1,5L bottle at home. Cloudy light golden colour, big foamy whte head. Grainy, sweet malts, citrus, floral. High carbonation, medium body.
3.0 Bottle. Golden colour, hazy, rocky head that does not stay long. Aroma is apricot, a bit of herbs. Light bitterness. Too high carbonation, light body. Average.
2.9 Butelka 330ml bączek pite w domu. Złote, piana dość mocna oblepia szkło.Aromat słodowy, w smaku także słody i zioła a w tle masełko niestety, pomimo to pijalne piwko.
3.4 On tap. Solid, clean, nice, hoppy (slightly oily even) belgian ale with soft, lingering, bitter aftertaste. Simply decent...
