Rich amber color and a thick, creamy head. Introduced into the U.S. in 1981. Gold medalist (amber lager) at 1998 World Beer Cup.

3.8Clear amber color with an off-white head and good retention. Decent lacing. Light caramel nose. Clean and smooth caramel malt flavor with a light roasted finish. Fairly flat mouthfeel. Crushable.
3.8Its a good "drinking beer". Not required to get too picky about this one. Goes down easy and a nice choice when having more than a few. Would likely be rated higher if not owned by a big brother.
3.4Pours copper colored with a light tan head. A fuller bodied flavor of malt and balanced by mild hops.
2.9One of the first reds I had and it’s ok, nothing exceptional. Pours a beautiful red though with a small head. Taste is slightly bitter and the aroma is, well, slightly Heineken skunk. However, it’s ok for an American mass brew and I’d definitely pick it over a number of other American brands.
3.0A beer that a favorite of a good friend, so I have had several times over the years. Easy to drink, well-balanced and not too bland. Above average, not a swill beer. Are there better? Sure - sometimes it's the company you keep - cheers!
2.2(pour l’enfant que j’ai été (attention, note/appréciation très ancienne))
2.5Bottle. It poured a clear Amber red color with a white head. It has a caramel and bread malt aroma with some light fruity notes. The taste has a little off flavoring to it and is mildly sweet. Ok but not great.
5.0Good Amber Beer
2.7Wet leather aroma. Bright white head with excellent lacing. Aqueous. Anise?
1.1a good beer taste, if you ignore the odd aftertastes
really a shame, for such a good start to end so poorly.
used to drink this a lot in college....now.....not at all
I look forward to the day when the brewers just try to brew good tasting beer and leave all the bells, whistles, knitted aprons, spices, flowers and pine cones to toy trains and interior decorating.
2.7Bottle. Semiclear copper. Red berries, spice, malt. Proper red ale flavour with a medium body and lively fizz. Long caramel finish.
3.0Cerveza típica de universitarios. Mucha espuma y un hermoso color rojizo es lo único memorable. Fácil de beber y excelente con alimentos como pizzas.
2.5Used to be one of the better beers before craft beers happened. But That was a long time ago. Now it is one of the more boring ones out there
2.9Rating from old records. I've enjoyed many of these back in the day, didn't know it was lager but I always tended toward the amber ones
3.3My first beer! Off the shelf beer but I love it. Hard to find in restaurants.
2.5Red style beers have not been my favorites lately. When I first got into craft beers they were delicious but I am not enjoying them at all. This is just ok
3.1From old tasting notes. Nice copper red color with a medium tan head. Mildly sweet toasted malt aroma. Sweet toasted malt flavor fades quickly and becomes salty, then gassy. Light dry finish and aftertaste. Thin and watery.
2.8Medium amber color with medium head. Aroma is mostly roasted malts. Smooth and doughy on the palate. Taste: mostly corn, grass, and malt.
A step above typical adjunct lagers, but nothing special.
3.2Rich, clear amber to copper color with a short-lived head of white foam. Traces of dried dark fruits and caramel malt overall. SOme dry grain and sweet floral and honey characters dancing around.
3.2Bottle at Max’s Diner in Buffalo, after Mr. Gugino’s funeral :( Clean grainy aroma. A very nice red lager, sweet malts, grassy hops, not much complexity, but really drinkable.
3.1Un bon ensemble pour une rousse mais un certain manque d’arôme, c’est dommage.
4.0Great beer... very smooth easy early afternoon drink during football season
2.9for some reason this one was really watery for me. maybe it was just cus every time I was offered one i drank it extremely cold and really fast. donno, ill revisit it some time im sure. i mean hell, its not bad or anything
2.5Much bread or bread crust. If that is what you are going for, then this is really good. Part of the reason I like this beer is that you cannot drink just one and you can still enjoy the taste of the second and third. Not very complex but it does not need to be.
3.3Clear rich Amber hue under a dissipating ivory cap. Golden brown bread toast on the aroma, with some lagery beery cracker tones. Semisweet flavor that has some light toast and light caramel/toffee, lager cracker, and a doughy bread toast finish. Like a bock but sweeter and amberish and much more blatantly lagery.
2.8Tap at brewburger, venice. Amber color, white head. Aroma has caramel notes, some sweetness and some fruits. Balanced body could be stronger, fruitt notes, some caramel notes.
3.6I found this beer at Hipermaxi in Cochabamba, Bolivia (22 Bs). Really nice standard Red Ale. Nice medium bitter taste with a good flavour overall. The aftertaste fell a little flat but not an issue. I would recommend this to anyone whose looking for a Red in Bolivia.
I can’t speak to some of the more specific features of this beer as I don’t feel knowledgeable enough. However, I need this second paragraph to reach the 75 word minimum.
2.8Pours a deep amber with an off white head. Aroma of malt. Taste the same with a little hop finish. Not bad would probably have a higher rating if wasn’t made by one of the big brewers.
2.5Clear, amber colored, off white small head. Aroma is of some malt and caramel, bit fruity. Taste is medium sweet malt and caramel, some fruity and bready notes, light grassy bitterness. Some cardboard as well. Medium to light bodied, soft carbonation. Nothing interesting but drinkable...
