Gösser Stiftsbräu

Gösser Stiftsbräu

The bottom fermented, dark Gösser Stiftsbräu is brewed according to old, inherited traditions. With a smoky, roasted nose and a thick and creamy taste on the palate, Stiftsbräu is a sophisticated delight for lovers of a slightly sweet, dark beer. The overall impression that Stiftsbräu creates is one of great harmony and well roundedness. 11.8°

3.2 Bottle st Glockl Brau. A vrown coloured beer with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, caramel, bread, sugar and with a roasted finish.
3.2 Donkerbruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is licht bitter en zoetzuur met iets van chocolade, karamel en rozijn of druif. Heel goed.
4.0 Great on the nose, has this particular smokey dense taste that old-fashioned german/austrian crafted beers often have. Deep intense flavor notes, notably chocolate and coffee. Surprisingly good for such an inexpensive beer.
2.9 From old tasting notes. Translucent reddish brown color has a large tan head. The aroma is rich, sweet roasted malt with molasses notes. Candy-like sweet roasted malt flavor pervades upfront. Finish is slightly less sweet, but lacking any noticeable hops. Sweet malt aftertaste is too much.
2.0 Aroma: dark malts and caramel. Appearance: dark brown color and creamy head. Taste: burnt malts, roasted dark malts, alcohol, ugly. Palate: low body and medium carbonation. Overall: What the hell ...
3.0 From notes. Enjoyed on draft at the brewery in Graz with Gary on November 18. The pour is a darker brown color with a thin layer of off white head and a couple spots of lace as it falls. The aroma is heavy on the roasted malts and a light caramel. There is a light fruitiness to it that is throwing me, but it’s interesting. The flavor mimics this, but offers a little more cereal and general graininess. The malt really controls, and it’s not a terrible thing. The mouth feel is viscously light and carries a softer carbonation. The aftertaste is lingeringly roasty with a hint of caramel. Not too terrible.
3.4 Brown, low tan head. Aroma nuts, roasty notes, cereal. Palate medium, low carbonation. Taste light roastiness, wood, grassy tones. Balanced.
3.2 0.5 l bottle. Brown colored with thin head. Earthy notes, coffee, chocolate and roasted malty notes. Medium finish, soft carbonation, light body.
3.1 Pours dark brown to orangeish black with pale tan head. Decent lacing. Malt very prominent but also some apricot. Oily. Medium finish.
2.5 Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Den Rock Liquor Mart. Aroma is light roasted malt, leather, funk, German yeast. Appearance is hazy amber with bits of sediment, no sparkle, ephemeral thin white head, and trace lacing. Taste is mainly moderately sweet--a bit toward root beer, with some German yeast funkiness. Palate is medium bodied with somewhat oily texture, average carbonation and dry bitter-tart finish. Overall, glad to check off an Austrian brew but don’t know when I’ll try my next one. Not good.
1.9 0,5l bottle, dark brown colour witha small off white head, aroma and taste of roasted malts, caramel, moderate bitterness and a little short finish.
3.5 0,5l bottle. Nice bitter-sweetness. Reminds me of Hirter Morchl.
3.2 Strong caramel taste. Sweet and fizzy as it goes over the tongue, almost like a Coke. A pleasant complement to food, such as smoked meats or salty peanuts.

3.5 Ciemne w odcieniu brązu piwo z pianą o lekko złamanej bieli. Słodowe, karmelowe, nuta paloności.
3.6 23.01.13: Bottle 0.5 l. Delikatny ciemny lager, po przelaniu do pokala powstaje gęsta piana na dwa palce, zapach ma lekko słodowy, w smaku wyczuwalna goryczka z akcentem palonego słodu.
3.2 Pours a dark brown color, topped with a good-looking off-white head. Malty aroma, sweet, nice notes of caramel and some coffee too. Taste is sweet at firts, roasty and coffee notes in the body, some caramel in there too. Mild and very drinkable. Not bad.
2.7 Not too shabby. Light fruit and roasted malt on the nose and palate. light bodied, but smooth and fitting of the style. nothing special, but not bad either.
3.1 Hát, hogy is mondjam ,sokkal többet vártam eme darabtól, de hát hogy is mondják, az élet egy süti.
2.9 500 ml bottle. BBE 09/2014. Seiersberg, Austria. Dark reddish brown colour with a small off-white head. Sweet malt, dark fruits and sugary notes in the aroma. Very typical Dunkel flavour with toasted malt, dark fruits and sugary sweetness. Rather drinkable.
3.2 Austrian Dunkel, tasted as Gösser Dark Beer. Thick, even rocky, creamy, off-white head, pretty bronze colour with copper glow, clear. Subdued aroma of caramelly and nutty malts, iron, soft leafy hops. Taste begins neutral, becoming faintly caramelly malty, sweetish, crisp and clean, bit metallic with strong carbonation, middle a nice and simple but clean maltiness, whiff of leafy hops in the finish, gradually becoming stronger but then fading away again rather quickly.
