This beer is a balanced showcase of the majestic hop specie, in Latin, Humulus Lupulus, which translates “Wolf Among Weeds”. It’s our celebration of California’s enthusiasm for hop-forward IPAs. At 8%, Wolf will sneak up on you from behind the robust citrus and dank earthy hop notes mirrored in its aroma and flavour profile.

4.8Bought via Drizly in SF and delivered to my door. Great IPA. Hops are not overpowering but hide the 8% ABV well. Well balanced and delicious
3.6Pint canned on 1/11/17 noice /s. Nose is resin pine citrus. Sip adds the obligatory malty backbone and bitterness. Boozy finish.
4.0On tap at a forgotten bar in LA. Scant, scribbled notes: Citrus and pine, moderate resinous/dank character, long bitter finish, pale malts. Nice and drinkable.
3.3(Tap) clear, bright yellow golden colour with a small white head; aroma of citrus, balanced flavour with a long, medium bitter finish
3.8Can pours a hazy golden color with a big white head that fades fast leaving little lace on glass. Aromas of citrus and tropical fruit, pine resin and dankness. Tastes of sweet caramel, lemon, grapefruit, sweet orange and some bread. Medium body, smooth , silky mouthfeel, a tad under carbonated, smooth mellow bitter finish. This beer is pretty decent. The can did have some age on it so I'm not going to beat it up to much. The flavors were not as fresh and bold or fruity and juicy as the aromas. I will rate a fresh can when I get a chance. Boom!!!
3.6Can shared with Paul and Andrew. Pours a golden body with white head. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with notes of fresh citrus, pine, bright stone fruits and soft grains.
3.4Can. Clear yellow with a big frothy white head. Aroma of grain and citrus. Tastes fruity and moderately bitter. Medium bodied.
3.6West Coast, I suppose - but have I had a falling out with the style I first fell in love with? I think so. It’s good, but I am spoiled by the juice bombs. I love the juice bombs. An above-average West Coast IPA, but just barely.
4.0Can from Total Wine, Lynnwood, WA
Cloudy blond color, small head. The aroma is all California IPA, there is crackery malt, delicate resiny hops, delicate fruits. Crisp mouthfeel, dry; very bold bitterness, with strong resiny component and some dankness; the bitterness in the final is a bit pithy.
Aggressive, excellent.
3.9Tall can. Golden IPA with dissipating head. Passion and grapefruit nose with similar taste. Adequate bitterness with decent body. Lingering bitterness and super light malt backbone but holds it up just enough. Enjoyed.
3.2On tap. Pours a hazy golden color with a small head. Aroma of pine and quite herbal. taste of pine, trace of malt sweetness and grain. Piney bitterness that lingers into the finish. Medium body, piney and bit gritty.
3.6Golden-bodied with a foamy, off-white head. Nice piny nose, albeit a tad soapy. The body follows through with piny juicyness. Nice restraint throughout, everything is in balance. Solid bitterness on the finish.
2.7473ml can @ the office. Pours a hazy golden yellow colour with a thin white head. Nose is resinous hops, with some sweetness. Flavour is somewhat rough mix of pine and grass ending with a moderate bitter finish that lingers on the palate like a perfume.
2.9500mL can, pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of resinous hops, caramel malts, and light candied sugar. Flavour is a bit abrasive, with piney and resinous hops, harsh alcohol, and perfume. Messy and perfumey on the finish. This one isn’t too convincing.
3.4Tall can at Brian’s office. Aroma is flowery with some sulfur notes. Taste is similar with herbal notes. Not bad.
2.9Cloudy. Not much head. Has a bit chewy and stale hop aroma. The palate is about the same, with more chewy stuff, alcohol, and it’s a got a touch of toastiness. It’s ok, but lacks brightness.
3.2On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served showing a clear, golden hue, a fairly lingering, finger’s width of soft white foam, with doily-like lacing. The nose was dank, ripe fruit, earthiness, greenery, herbaceous, with some vegetal hints. Medium bodied, with fair carbonation, the taste added slight malt sweetness, and some bitterness that was earthy, citrusy, and rind-like. Subdued DIPA buzz, and not really snifter worthy in my book.
3.2Blind tasted with 3 other dipas, dipas were: 1. Flying Dog Imperial IPA - Calypso Single Hop 2. Southern Tier 2xSmash 3. Golden Road Wolf Among Weeds IPA 4. Forbidden Root Snoochie Boochies. Rater 1 rated the beers 4312, Rater 2 (ME): 4 13 TIE 2.
473ml can. Gold pour. Honey and hop aroma. Falvor is decent, peppery, mango, tropical candy, earth, pine, barley, licorice, booze.
Post tasting thoughts:
This is complex stuff, odd, but intriguing. Oh yeah, fuck inbev.
2.5Not impressed. Should've known when I realized owned by AB InBev. Not well balanced. Very floral smell. Hint of grapefruit and heavy pine. Bitter aftertaste. Not for me. Wouldn't buy another.
3.6Hazy, yellow-gold pour with a frothy, white head. The aroma has strong citrus with grapefruit dominate. It has a medium body with oily texture and average carbonation. The taste is bittersweet with a slightly more bitter finish.
3.4Looks like the In Bev effect, these beers are making it into PDX now. Pours a clear golden hue with a large white head. A nice light fruity hop and grain nose. Sweet, oranges, some dusty earth, lemons especially. Low bitterness. Smooth. Solid, simple, not much to stand out for an IIPA.
3.2Medium sized white head with fair retention, skimpy lace. Hazy gold color. Slight nose of pineapple and citrus. Body is lightly medium, soft carbo, skinny. Dry pale malts, pineapple, some orange juice, slightly astringent, apple juice. Dry finish, tad fruity, tame bite. Anudder tame DIPA. Sorta thin, uneventful. 16oz cans from statelineliquors.
3.6Pours golden yellow color with soapy white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of tropical fruit, resin and caramel Tropical fruit flavor with pine, and some toffee sweetness. Very nice.
2.6Canned April 1st.
Pours clear straw yellow, goodly amount of foam.
Tropical fruity nose with bitter hops.
Really bitter and dank hop taste that overwhelms any tropical fruit I got in the smell. Big bread notes from the malt.
Good enough mouthfeel, perhaps a bit more carbonation.
Pretty average DIPA in my book.
4.0Pounder can from Whole Foods PM. Turbid golden pour with white head. Dry, bitter, New England nose. Dry hops, bitter, tropical fruit, long, lingering finish, white pepper, some dank esters.Solid IIPA
2.7Draught at random shitty bar in Malden, 2/21/17.
Mostly clear, bright golden-pineapple body is topped by a thick white head.
Big notes of juicy pineapple, ruby red grapefruit, pine and strong honey-caramel from the malt create quite an overbearing, if partially enjoyable (the juicy, tropical aspect) nose. Rather estery and boozy, especially after warming with decidedly little character/personality to it. Rather straightforward PNW hops add citrus, pineapple and such while malts add strong sugar.
In the flavor it starts out juicy and fruity with lots of citrus but quickly adds alcohol and strong sourdough and cake icing-like maltiness to the picture which really detracts and fatigues the palate. Hot and messy with too much bitterness malt and alcohol. Rather thick, sluggish texture.
3.4Aromas of fresh grass, lemon, some fresh hops with pine. light golden color with a thick white head. Sweet malt up front. Crisp. Balanced quickly with a nice covering layer of smooth bitterness. Slight heat from alcohol, mixed with a resinous piney note. Finish is bitter with a warming echo from alcohol. Very dry. Good.
3.8Tallboy can from Giant Eagle in Upper Arlington: gold pour, white head, soapy stick. aroma of pine, floral, citrus, apricot. tastes are caramel malts, toasty, grass, dank, grapefruit. moderate even bitter. drinks easy.
3.4Better than avg dipa but overall pretty unremarkable. Light yellow colour, well balanced, foamy head poured from can, piney, citrusy hop flavours.
4.2Slightly hazy gold pour with a tall, chunky, off white head. Aroma is loaded with citrus, spicy, beery and dank hops, some earthy and tropical fruit as well. caramel, overdone bread, floral hops and a little toffee. Flavor is loaded with citrus notes, juicy, zesty, candied, bitter and sweet citrus. Some earthy hops, and a hint of tropical fruit, fruity and lightly bready yeast, hints of cracker malt. Medium body, slightly chalky, but syrupy entry, medium, sharp carbonation, slightly oily, but dry finish with a decent hop acid bite. Really tasty stuff, just a great, citrus centered, kinda dank IIPA.
