Gotlands Wisby Stout

Gotlands Wisby Stout

Thomas Berglund - Svenska Dagbladet

Doft

3.5 31.08.2019. 0,33l Bottle. Systembolaget Strömstad, Oslovägen 56. Black colour with a dark tan head. Lots of dark malts. Dry with good soft bitterness. Body is pretty rich with lots of malt. Nice balanse between sweetness and dry bitterness.
3.8 Black with mahogany lacing, lasting foam. Aroma roasted malts, chocolate, hops. Taste very nice, some bitterness. (Velp 201906)
3.7 03-05-2019; bottle; at the Swedish house (bought at Systembolaget Karlstad - Bergvik, Sweden). Again a nice looking Stout beer. The beer is quite dark. The colour is a nice dark reddish brown. The beer is too dark to say anything about the clarity of the beer. On top of the beer some greyish-brown foam is formed. Not a lot of foam is formed and foam retention is low. Only a very small drape of foam is left. All in all, not bad. Looks like a good Stout. The aromas of the beer are nice too. Again, not as strong and intense as some Stouts can be. The Swedish Stouts tend to a be a bit more mild. I smell a touch of liquorice, chocolate and coffee toasted malt notes, some fruity notes. It is actually quote nice. Besides these nice malt aromas, there are some nice hop notes that are both herbal as slightly citrusy. This is quite nice. The taste of the beer also is nice. The hops bring a decent bitterness. Bitterness is further enhanced by the toasted malts. Malts bring some nice sweet flavours. The taste of the beer is quite well balanced. Nice. The palate of the beer is fine too. Medium body, smooth texture, medium carbonation. The finish of the beer isn't that long. It has some nice notes of coffee and chocolate. But, all in all, it is a very nice beer. I like it. Good one.
3.3 Dark brown/black color, small brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, hops and licorice. Taste of roasted malt, tobacco, licorice and hops.
3.0 @ Bjällerödsvägen 29/12-18. Bottle from Systembolaget. Roasted malty with coffee, chocolate and notes of licorice. Body is medium, roasted finish.
3.0 0,33l bottle. Pours black with light beige head. Vague aroma of coffee and roast. Taste is coffee, roast, dark chocolate, bitterness from the roast. Not a lot going on, it's fine.
2.7 Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with a dense and solid beige head, leaving a neat lacework. Very good looking. Subbtle charred roast aroma. Kinda light-bodied, English licorice and tar. I kinda expect more body, but it never manifests - and how much can you really expect from a 5% Stout. 141218
3.2 Bottle@the meat, Stockholm. Opaque black color with tanned head. Aroma has caramel, licorice and chocolate. Taste is malty sweet with quite long a bit sweet aftertaste. Flavors of caramel, dark malt, licorice and dark fruits.
3.4 Flaska 330 ml från Systembolaget. Svart med vitt skum. Doft av lakrits och malt. Maltig, smak av lakrits och kaffe. Mer intensiv i smaken jämfört med tex Guinness. Helt ok, bäst är den nog på fat om det nu finns.
3.0 0,3 litre Bottle from Systembolaget Charlottenberg. Almost Black with offwhite head. Roasted malts, liqorice, coffee.
3.3 330 ml bottle at Hotel scandic nr 25, Göteborg. Black with off white head. Roasted malt with coffee and chocolate. Light bodied dry with low bitterness and soft carbonation.
3.1 330ml brown bottle poured into a tulip glass. Appearance is brownish black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, syrup loaf and a hint of raisins and dried prunes. Taste is medium sweet and light-medium bitter. Palate is light-medium bodied, soft texture and average carbonation. Wisby Stout is a decent beer for the style.
3.4 A black beer, a head is medium and light beige. Aroma is balanced, roastiness of coffee and sweetness of chocolate. Taste has roastiness, coffee, some chocolate. Quite dry end even with some ash. Almost medium bodied. Good beer.
Passt.
2.6 24.02.2018, 0,33l bottle @ Trancher, Bergen: Nice fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet roasted, dark malts, hay, weeds, nuts, toast, bloodlike minerals, grass, chocolate. Taste is slightly dry mineraly, weeds, hay, cocoa, toast, dark malts, grass, nuts, paper, minerals. Medium bitterness, slightly harsh mineraly mouthfeel. Kind of boring.
2.7 From notes. Consumed this baby at the bar inside the Radisson BLU hotel in Stockholm on January 13. 330 mL bottle. The pour is a darker brown color with a thick light tan colored head and a couple spots of lace as it falls. This is really thin. The aroma is somewhat messy. The roasted malt doesn’t do a good job to cover up the smokiness of this one. There is a bit of dry chocolate that I’m not too fond of, and just a hint of alcohol on the back end. The flavor is much of the same. The light maltiness and the smoke really turn me off. The dry chocolate keeps up with the dry stout adage, but this isn’t my thing at all. The mouth feel is light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation and a very watery finish. The smoky malt hangs around way too long and the chocolate is dry with a light bitterness. I think I might prefer Guinness to this one. 5 3 5 3 11
W smaku wytrawne, kawowe. Odrobina czekolady też wyczuwalna. Delikatna goryczka i przyjemny posmak w ustach. Wysycenie niskie. Bardzo smaczne!
3.2 Nose with raisins and floran notes. Light chocolate too. Dark brown and small head. Taste is fruity and also some cocoa. Palate short and slight metallic.
Trevlig.
3.1 courtesy of BT - black beer with a moderate dark beige foam; roasted aroma of chocolate and ashes; some sweetness; light grainy bitterness; the finish is a bit harsh with notes of grain and roasted dark malts
3.3 Coffee and cocoa aside, there’s definitely something about sea waves in winter in the aroma and the palate. Also, a nice bitter cocoa finish
2.9 Bottle 330ml. Deep brown with an light beige fluffy head. Aroma and taste of some roasted caramel notes and light coffee, but that’s it really. Not very exciting in any aspect. With an abv of 5% it should be possible to create a more exciting brew.
3.4 Bottle (5,0%) from Systembolaget. Black color with light brown head. Aroma brings notes of roasted coffe. Taste somewhat of chocolate and coffe. Nice stout!
2.9 330 mlbottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.0%. Black colour, moderate to low tan head. Moderate aroma of grain, dust and chocolate. Dry flavour of roast malts, coffee and cocoa / chocolate. A hint of smoke.
3.7 Bottle from bar in Västerås. Absolutely delicious beer. It was smoky, chocolatey, coffee flavoured and yet still retained a lightness I am fond of. Perfect after a big meal. Bottle from system. Taken from 4.5 to 3.7. Rest should be lower though. Very bland and watery
3.4 chocolate, coffee, nuts, toast, roasty, resin, barnyard, leather, vanilla, woody, black, tan foam, light sweetness, lightly sour, salty, medium bitterness, light body, oily feel, soft carbonation, astringent, doesn’t fully deliver.
Genomsnittlig.
3.8 Kolsvart med lite röda toner. Tjockt beige-färgat skum. Brända kaffetoner i aromen. Smaken tunn, lite besk.
