Gotlands Wisby Weisse

Gotlands Wisby Weisse

A wheat bear from Gotland, made according to the Bavarian brewing tradition. Brewed inside the ancient walls of Wisby.

3.0 Tap at Ardbeg Embassy. Aroma is banana, cloves melon and chalk. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and faint sour. Body is dry with light carbonation. Finish is medium with notes that follow the nose.
2.5 Golden pale. Nose is bubble gum, banana candy. Taste is mostly wheat and malty sweetness. Not much complexity and fades away quickly with a sticky, not too pleasant finish.
3.2 Bottle @ traveling to Lapland w friends/boilermaker. Appearance: hazy yellow with good white creamy head and lacing. aroma/taste: wheat, orange peel, banana and floral notes. palette: medium malty and yeasty aroma, medium to sparkling carbonation, medium body, average to notable sweetness, somewhat balanced by an average bitterness, medium duration and a watery texture. Overall: nice balanced and refreshing weizen.
2.8 Bottle from my EuroSanta Nisse666, many thanks! Golden color with small white head. Orange, overripe bananas, clove and warming spices. Taste is again orangey, ripe bananas, spicy, estery, a bit warming finish. Low carbonation, the mouthfeel is not as smooth as it could be. Fun, but nothing special.
3.3 Schöne, bauchige Flasche. Leichte Trübe im Glas, leichte Perlen, stabiler, cremiger Schaum. In der Nase Banane. Im Trunk erst leicht bitter, dann süß, im Abgang fruchtig, feine Bitternoten, ganz leicht. Hohe Drinkability, sehr erfrischend.
2.3 Slightly hazy light brass colour with almost no head. Funky citric aroma. Taste is lemon with some weird herbal thing going on.
3.6 500ml brown bottle poured into a Tulip glass. Appearance is hazy straw yellow with a medium-sized off-white foamy head. Aroma of lemon zest, wheat bread, banana and herbs. Flavours of lemon and orange zest, pears, banana and toast. Taste is light-medium sweet and light bitter. Palate is light-medium bodied, soft texture and average carbonation. Overall a tasty and fresh Weisse, would have been even better a slightly less sweet.
4.2 Bottle. Aroma is white pepper, clove, banana, some coriander, floral, hints of apricot and peach. Golden, cloudy, nice off white head. Medium sweetness, light bitter, taste is ripe banana, some bubbelgum, cinnamon, orange, clove. Medium body, medium carbonation, medium long sweet finish, good mouthfeel. Very well brewed hefeweissen!
3.4 Clear yellow color. Very bright aroma, lots of fruits, apricots, general pleasant yeastiness. Very rich and fruity flavor. Bananas and apples. Very pleasing beer.
3.3 How : bottle Appearance : cloudy orange with a medium white head. Aroma : oranges, banana, spice, hrbs and grass. Palate : medium body, average carbonation.
3.3 Yellow beer white head. Fruity citrus and yeast on the nose. A little sour. Quite crispy. Nice bitterness. Refreshing.
3.0 500ml bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy pale straw, large white compact head, rich lacing. Fruity yeast aroma, banana dominates. Light crisp mouthfeel, gentle carbonated. Fruity taste red apples, banana, orange and white bread.
2.9 Aroma is typical hefe. Banana, yeast and quite a big malt presence. Taste is pretty much standard hefeweizen, but with a higher bitterness. A bit stale and not so livley.
2.8 Draught @ Ardbeg embassy, Stockholm. Refreshing, decent, though a bit too prominent banana features.
3.0 Nice flowery aroma with sweet jibes and light yeast. Pouring with a nice head and some fresh citrus in the palate. Could work fine in the snow.
3.2 Bottle, J-Bar Sip and Tick Festival, Nacka, Stockholm, 31/10/15. Gotlands is all over Stockholm like a rash. Here’s another. Weighty 500ml bottle. Pours opaque apricot with an initially heaped white foam shrinking fast. Promising banana candy, juniper, smoke puffs, TCP dabs aroma with a coriander-like perfume. Decent earthy clove spice and white pepper on banana esters. Moderate bitterness at the edges for style. Not as slick and rounded as the finest examples: outshone by Weihenstephaner NA. But a worthy effort
3.0 500ml bottle. Light hazy orange color with white head. Malty aroma, light yeasty too, banana fruity, caramel, spicy notes. Sweet and light bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
3.3 Aroma has sweet banana, wheat and yeast. Pours hazy golden with a small head that leaves lacing. Taste has medium sweetness, light sourness and bready maltiness, banana. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Malty finish.
3.1 500 ml bottle. Hazy pale yellow colour, thick white head. Sweetish aroma of wheaty malt, banana and yeast. The flavour is malty, wheaty, with banana and notes of citurs and spices. OK.
2.6 Bottle. Light golden, cloudy, average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty – some wheat and sweetish aroma, faint toffee and light fruitiness and light banana with faint yeast. Body is medium, malty – lightly wheaty and sweetish flavor, light fruitiness and banana. Finish is short to average, malty – lightly wheaty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, light banana and faint metal. Sweetish hefeweizen from Spendrups. Nothing special - lacks character.
2.4 Valjuke. Vaahto oli hyvä, mutta ohut body. Tavan ok vehnä. Ei toiste. Tällaisia on vähän liikaa.
3.2 Interesting appearance, look like pineapple juice, murky, light yellow, a head is quite big and white. Aroma has strong and sour wheat, spicyness of cloves, bubblegum, some banana and lemon. Taste has wheat, quite sour, lemon, some banana esters. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Quite personal, strongly sour and lemony. Refreshning but I prefer different style of hefes.
3.8 0.5 l bottle from Alko. Dark yellow cloudy appearance with big head. Aroma is banana. Taste has some banana and some hops, I think. Quite good and not just a direct copy of the Bavarian classics
2.5 Bottle 50 CL. Pours hazy yellow with white frothy lacing head. Notes of fruits, orange. Pretty bland stuff. - beerbasher
3.3 På flaske i Malmø ved Bade-anstalten. Gulbrun med en god skumkrone. Frugtrig og maltet. Sødelig aroma men for mig en rigtig god Hvede Øl.
3.2 Small white head. Cloudy yellow. Fruity and yeasty aroma and taste. Bread, mango, lemon. Crispy carbons. Watery and light body. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
4.0 Biszkoptowy kolor, piana drobnobąbelkowa, długo się utrzymuje. Aromat średnio wyczuwalny-banan i inne... W smaku przyjemne, bananowo-cytrusowe, z prawie niewyczuwalną goryczką. Najbardziej treściwe w środku piwa.
3.1 Bottle. Pale yellow, heavy white head Weisse aroma, foam banana Nice fresh taste, easy. Medium bitter
