3.0 Pours deep brown with a dark tan head. Light coffee and roast in the aroma. Same in taste. Light bodied and a touch weak but not offensive
2.8 Tap sample at Omaha, NE. location. Pours dark brown. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Tastes similar to aroma.
3.1 Ehh, mediocre stout at best! Beautiful dark pour w/ a retaining mocha head that leaves little lacing. The aroma is quite light & only slightly roasty. The taste is watery, slight roast, & just too thin! Come on man!
3.1 Draft. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Mild roasted malts, some generic malty sweetness, faint coffee, and a muted and mild roasted malty finish. Pretty bland throughout, but no real off flavors.
2.0 Pour on tap at the brewpub in Eagan, MN, dark brownish black pour, nitro pour with tan head, aroma brought water, grain, biscuit, some toast, touch of slight caramel. Taste was a mix of caramel, grain, toffee into a bit of cocoa, watery bready notes, finishing dry.
2.4 On tap in Cleveland (OH) Another so-so impersonation of a stout mirrors the Mom’s Cookies. Any highlights are drowned in a sea of watery blandness. Save your time and money unless you want a cheap tick. Aroma / Appearance - A black fluid base swirls limply around the glass. Thin bodied and watery the view alone inspires little confidence of a great memorable experience. Coffee and undercooked oatmeal have cheap smoky undertones like a smoking patio rinsed clean by a rain shower. Flavor / Palate - Watery smoke and cheap coffee tease the palate with a promise of something better. If you took the bottom of the pot and added enough water to unstick it you’d have a good equivalent of this flavor profile. A half hearted release falls just short of average and isn’t worth more than two ounces at best.
3.9 Like a Guinness, but with a little funkiness. Not sure what it is. Maybe should be on nitro.
2.7 Julie liked this one. She gives it a 3.2. It was a dryer stout akin to a Guinness ,,,......................
2.7 Tap. Dark reddish-brown pour with almost no head. Aromas are chocolate, oatmeal, and nuts. Tastes boring. Watery chocolate, light roast, light cream. Thin body.
3.0 9/10/2014. On tab Troy MI. Dark brown with a tan head. Roasted malt, chocolate and hints of coffee. Watery without a lot of body. Bland finish,
2.9 Pours a dark black with a tan foam head. Has a roasty and chocolate aroma. Flavor is sweet chocolate, roasted malts, and even a little nutty taste. Towards the bottom of the pint glass there was a dirt/grass flavor that was unfortunate. Has a watery body feel. Otherwise not too bad.
3.7 4 oz draft sampler pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and cocoa. Taste is coffee and malts
3.0 Pours black with a creamy, tan head. Copious lacing. Nose is roasted grain with light mocha notes. Dry finish. Pretty much like Guinness. Good brew.
2.6 On tap @ the Granite City Food & Beer in the Indianapolis airport, concourse A. A thin offering, simple roast, cola-ish sweetness. Didn’t finish it.
3.0 Tap, black with a tan head, tasted slightly sweet of chocolate, roast malt, and coffee, light dry finish, average stout
3.4 Surprisingly decent. Thin, dry and easy to drink. Nice roasted malt profile, just a tiny amount of coffee bitterness.
2.9 Dark brown color with a wispy tan head. Roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate notes. Thin watery mouthfeel with low carbonation.
3.8 tap sampler in Troy, MI. Poured opaque black with a thick creamy beige head with lasting lace. Aroma is roasted with coffee notes. Medium thick mouthfeel with smooth carbonation, finishes dry. Roasted malt flavour with coffee and burnt chocolate notes.
2.1 Just an average stout beer. nice and dark with some chocolate notes. Oatmeal is present but is subtle.
3.4 Tap at GC Madison. Not quite opaque black burgundy. Massive beige nitro head. Smooth and luscious Stout..sort of in the Sweet Stout style. Nitro accentuates the watery GC body, but there is a lot of chocolate/oatmeal sweetness. Rather pedestrian and standard, but enjoyable enough. Coffee, roast tones.
2.8 Tried at Granite City Brewery in Kansas City. Part of a flight. Found all of the beers to be watered down and mediocre at best.
2.4 Tap at Granite City, a boring stout with nothing really going on , dry chalky chocolate dominates in an odd way. no real flavor besides dry chalk.
3.2 Had on tap in Madison, WI in March 2013. This pours a dark brown color with a creamy light brown head. There is a sweet malt scent. The texture is pretty thin and light that is sweet, creamy with hints of cocoa. It’s fairly decent given the company as it compares pretty similar to Guinness. Tried it once, but probably not going to try again.
3.2 On tap in Sioux Falls, SD actually. Respectable stout here that is cheaper due to me using the Granite City Mug Club.
3.0 Pours a deep brown with amber notes and a creamy lacing tan head. Aroma of light roast and chocolate. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malts and caramel. Smooth but a bit thin.
1.6 Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is roasted malts and flavor is chalky, roasty water. Not good at all.
2.8 An okay looking stout, but really there was not much flavour here. Watered down. Cheap.
3.0 Looks good in the glass - deep brown or black with a finely foamy head that coats the glass. A lot of roasted coffee in the aroma and the taste. Pretty thin and average stout.
3.3 Dark red brown color with a thick off white head. There is a light nose displaying hints of coffee and oats. The palate comes across as slightly creamy with notes of milk chocolate and coffee. An OK stout.
3.0 Very feint chocolate scents and a small roast. Taste is a tad of chocolate and a bitter coffee roast, light body.
