2.7 Poured from 341mL bottle. Clear, golden brown with off white head. Subtle nuts and caramel.
1.9 bottle, as maple cream ale - thanks to skykob for bringing this back from vanacouver. cllear copperish colour with a reluctant head; aroma more of caramel nougat than maple, quite sweet, hint of vanilla, faint bitterness, dull
3.8 My favorite Granville Island beer. Amber pour, small head. Aroma of maple syrup and caramel malts, taste brings out those flavours.
0.5 Tasted at Granville island brewery. Sweet mild taste, easily drinkable, good non fizzy body. Everything else not remarkable.
2.9 On tap at Granville Island, pours a clear orange amber with a small beige head. Aroma is mild with notes of maple syrup and caramel malt. Flavour is similar, bringing out similar subtle maple and caramel notes. Fairly bland, but pleasant enough. Better than the other cream ale Granville Island used to brew. Decent. Earlier Rating: 10/14/2009 Total Score: 1.7 Bottle - pours a golden/amber. Flavour of nuts and hops, with a hint of maple syrup. Drinkable amber ale.
3.0 Draft - Sweet grains, caramel and syrup. Clear gold with a rich beige head. Caramel, grains and a bit nutty. Light grainy bitterness in the finish.
3.0 Aroma is roasty malts, brown sugar and maple syrup. Taste is light sweet malts with a very pale bitterness on the tip that finishes smoothly. Not entirely complex overall.. Quite sweet. Appearance is a clear brown/amber with a thin pearl head that retains quite well.
3.3 On tap @ Granville Island Brewing. Amber pour with a khaki head. Nose is mostly just caramel malt and toast. Some toffee and floral hops. Rather mild. A hint of vanilla. Flavor is sweet and malt forward. A lot of caramel and toast. Slight nuts, vanilla, and spice. Floral and spicy hops. Mild toffee. Where’s the maple @?
2.9 Drank from bottle, aroma of maple syrup, sugars. Taste is creamy, milk chocolate, hint of maple. Enjoyed this.
2.8 Bready caramel malts dominate off the top, followed by the maple syrup and burnt sugars. The maple syrup on the finish is fantastic, and it lingers nice and long on the tongue.
2.4 Bottle. Something off putting about this maple. Its aroma was correct, but it tasted of toffee, caramel and then the maple flavour was really weird. Not the best mouth feel either as the strange off maple flavour sticks to your tongue. I never found it to be smooth or sweet just unpleasant.
2.9 Bronze coloured with a creamy off-white head. The taste is malty with a subtle hint of maple syrup. A little sweet, but not unpleasant. The body is somewhat thin, and the hops are very mild tasting, imparting little bitterness. This rather caramel-ly ale has a uniquely Canadian ingredient, and was worth the experiment!
2.7 Bottle. Deep caramel with no real head. Creamy malt aroma. Flavor is deep creamy malt, dry chocolate base.
3.0 Clear medium copper, fading foamy off-white head. Sweet malt aroma and taste with a hint of maple syrup and not much else. Average carbonation, light body, low hopped. Not bad bit would prefer something different my girl friend enjoyed though.
2.4 Poured from bottle. Malty aroma. Unable to smell any maple. Copper aroma. Smooth drinking but ultimately lacking. Would not go out of my way to purchase again.
3.5 Smell is malt leaning with some light maple notes. Taste is smooth and balanced malt with maple sweetness in the background. Medium carbonation. Smooth and easy drinking. I enjoyed it.
2.2 Bottle. Aromas has some light maple syrup, toffee malts and a small amount of hops. Pretty tamed stuff. Nothing exciting. Another average Canadian beer.
2.2 341 ml bottle, Winnipeg, MB, Canada. Light brown, thin head. Very faint maple aroma, some vanilla. Metallic caramel flavour. Some peppery hops on the finish.
2.7 341ml bottle from the granville mixed 12 pack, a birthday gift from my sister. pours amber with a lasting off white head. almost no aroma, lightly sweet, more malty then maplely. the flavour is similar. a simple amber ale with no detectable maple. big ol meh
3.6 Tap @ Brewery Grandville Island. Clear mahogany. Small head. Tree dusty notes. Dry smooth. Complex. Nice.
1.6 Easily the poorest maple beer I have ever had. I tend to be generous when rating maple beers but this kinda sucked.
2.4 Amber pour with a quick dissipating head. Rich sweey maple flavour. Weak aroma. Smooth syrup finish. Tastes the same as every other beer from this brewery.
2.6 341 ml bottle at Masas Bar. Clear medium copper, fading foamy off-white head. Sweet malt aroma and taste with a hint of maple syrup and not much else. Average carbonation, light body, low hopped. Inoffensive. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)
2.3 341ml bottle. Decent colour, head lasted about as long as a Coke’s. Aroma is mild ale with a hint of maple. Maple is stronger in the taste but sadly the ale component is weaker. Not much body. Overall, kind of bland and a bit watery, ale needs to be bolder even for a cream ale, maple is present without being cloying. Still, I kind of wish I didn’t have 4 more of these.
2.3 Sampled at the Great Canadian Beer Festival. Sweet but not noticeable mapled. Too light, bland.
3.4 On tap at the brewery. Pours amber with off-white head. Aroma is of caramel, apples and hint of maple syrup. Body is medium, creamy and smooth. Taste is of caramel, maple syrup and hint of herbal hops. Finish is long and semi-dry. Interesting brew.
3.0 Nice, solid cream ale, not bitter. Maple notes are pleasant but restrained, and presents as an unchallenging, but enjoyable beer.
2.7 Bottle. 5. Dark amber pour with a weak tan foam that recedes quickly to a ring. Aroma is nutty and sweet, presence of maple, toffee. Aroma is bold malt flavour, lightly hopped. Mouth feel is dry, mild carbonation, but crisp and satisfying. Little lingering stickiness of maple, caramel. Decent amber.
3.3 Smooth cream ale that only has a barely noticeable hint of maple. If it wasn’t in the name of the beer, one wouldn’t know that it was a maple-flavoured offered. No strong aroma other than hints of caramel and no outstanding taste, but the creaminess of this beer makes up for this by offering a smooth, semi-sweet tasting beer.
