Great Divide Colette

Great Divide Colette

Our homage to the beers that have quenched the thirst of Belgian farm workers for centuries. Brewed with barley, wheat and rice and fermented at high temperatures with a special blend of four different yeast strains, Saison is fruity and slightly tart, with a dry finish that makes it that rarest of treats–a beer as refreshing as it is complex. 7.3% ABV.

Corpo medio.
4.0 12 fl oz can. Big complex tasty beer. Appearance is a cloudy pale yellow gold, topped with an almost non-existent layer of white froth which disappears immediately as well. Aroma is a complex swirl of fruity, tart, earthy yeast, malty sweet. Taste is also complex, a light fruity sour tartness, blended with a earthy farmhouse yeasty note, with the distinct banana esters of the wheat malt, and a light touch of funkiness. Medium bodied, almost no carbonation.
2.6 one of the few underwhelming beers here it just has a flavor that doesn't quite work for me.
2.1 Not a true saison for me. High ABV. Citrus tasting. No more.
3.7 Can. Pour was hazed golden with a white head. Aroma of yeast, fruity, lemon, plum. Taste was light tart, sweet, funky, spice, yeast, lemon, citrus.
3.9 Foamy white head stayed on a hazy dark lemon coloured still body. Chalk, wheat & yeast aroma. Medium bodied, soft over the tongue with a clean dry back. Earthy, yeast, wheat, spices, sweet citrus, berry & confectionery with a sweet tangy finish.
2.9 12oz Dose. Naturtrübes gelbes Bier mit festem weissem Schaum. Hefeduft. Grüne Banane. Antrunk ist ein Zucker Schocker! Echt süss. Hefe und Alkohol, aber eins muss ich zugeben: es schmeckt echt belgisch!
3.9 13/IV/19 - 12Fl. Oz. can, shared @ Zeezicht (Breda, NL), post Prison Escape lunch, BB: n/a - (2019-463) Clear pale blond beer, small creamy white head, unstable, falls down quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: very rural, barn yard, hay, cow fodder, little fruity. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter start, very malty, grains, hay, bit grassy, spicy. Aftertaste: spicy, coriander, dry, dusty, malts, grains. Pretty pleasant saison!
4.2 (malt-~orange, ∞-pulpo-veloutée-savouro-délicate (duvetosité dingue-inouïe), simple & profonde, fruit jaune-orange)
3.2 Can 33 cl. Golden, cloudy with a white head. Aroma of yeast, fruits and some wheat sense. Medium bitter with a dry fruit and wheat sense.
3.7 bottiglia 355 ml, schiuma bianca media grana media persistenza, colore giallo smorto torbido, al naso è fruttata speziata frutta matura leggero banana, in bocca è asciutta spezie frutta gialla, corpo rotondo, con l’alcool siamo al limite ma i 7,3% VOL sono ben equilibrati, lieve acidula, carbonazione decisa, amaro moderato. Secca nel finale. Una birra ben fatta. Molto buona. c. Beer-shop.it 13.04.19
4.0 Quite a good and sessionable farmhouse beer, nice presence of yeasty funky and some sweet cereal malt notes, just very mild.
3.8 Sampled at Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton, and several times since, it poured a mostly clear golden colour with white foam, long-lasting with lace. Grainy, grassy, herbal, floral, banana, bubble gum, strong black pepper and clove spice. Light body, strong carbonation, well-concealed high alcohol, dry finish. More similar to Tank 7 than DuPont or other Belgian masterpieces, but it's very tasty and refreshing, one of my favourite widely distributed domestic saisons.
3.5 355ml can from radbeer.com. Gold colour with white head. Big weird medicinal lemon - but in a good way (?), bready malt, yeasty, watery lemon, pear drops (?), citrus, rice, spices, lemon grass, barnyard funk, grassy, light soapy, light black pepper. Too watery for abv, bit weird but in a good way, interesting beer.
3.4 Très très bonne surprise. Goût prononcé caractérisé par une levure intéressante. Recommande largement accompagné d’une planche d’antipasti.
3.7 355ml can. Clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is a little fruity and funky, bread. Taste is sweet, fruity, yeasty, a little spicy. Medium body and carbonation. Nice.
3.3 Aroma iis lemon, banana and light malt. Taste is esters, lemon, and wheat.
4.4 A celebration of Belgian yeast aroma and flavor. Crisp balance while maintaining light mouthfeel without tasting overly of alcohol for a high gravity beer. I would also enjoy a lower ABV version, more in the saison tradition — keeping all the wonderful notes that make this a American Belgian I'll return to. Really it's more of a Belgian golden strong than a aison, but what's in a name anyway?
3.3 Can taken away from Beerfly, Bedford. Light yellow bordering on straw in colour. Hazy with a little white head. Light aroma, with lemon peel, grass and spicy yeast. Doesn't hang together so well. However it tastes very nice indeed with a yeasty sweetness filling the mouth. There's a little bitter hoppy kick in the finish, but it's the yeast that lingers in the aftertaste. High carbonation. Decent.
3.4 0.355l bottle. Sloghly hazy golden body with a lasting white head. Aroma of hay, pepper, soap and lemon zest. Taste of sugar syrup, bread, pepper, lemon zest and grassy hops. OK saison.
3.6 Pours very hazy yellow golden, topped with a large, frothy and pretty lasting white head. Gentle fruity nose, some more noticeable spices with barnyard feel, slight horse blanket. Gently soury , but very gently. Spiciness upfront, gentle yeastiness. Medium bitterness later on. Lighter body. Very fresh feeling. Not my favourite, but refreshing.
3.8 Super cold on tap. At Point Grill in Mariposa. Lingering thin white head. Pleasant malty taste with good alcohol balance. Overall good for a Belgian style beer made in America. I'll going to have a second!!
3.4 35,5cl Bottle @ Beergium, Le Roeulx, Belgium. Hazy golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma is yeast, fruits, spices. Taste is yeast, plums, banana, spices, malt, sweet. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.3 355 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.3%. Slightly hazy pale golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of spicy saison yeast, some dust. The flavour has plenty of spicy saison yeast, slightly dry, some fruit. Moderate bittering hops. .
2.8 From a Can to a Glass. Pours a slightly hazy gold light amber color. Decent fizzy head that disappeared fast. Big bubbles streaming up. Aroma is barnyard, herbs, earthy, banana, clove, cracker and bread dough, some slight citrusy notes. Taste follows the aroma with a Belgian yeast note in the sip and a slight cheese note in there aswel. Its ok if.you like funky beers. Light mouthfeel. Not into it much. I think for what it is it may be good but its not my cup of brew.
4.0 From can, many thanks zvsn, stable ling lasting bubbly head, a touch hazy intense yellow color, aroma of funk, horse sweat and yeastiness, fruity, almond, vanila, funk, lemin flavor, medium bitterness, light sweetness, very nicely balanced. Excellent saison.
