Great Divide Hades

Great Divide Hades

Hades is brewed with a rare Belgian yeast strain that gives a complex spicy flavor and aroma. Noticeable hops and medium malt character make it an extremely well-balanced, crisp ale. Hades goes great with a bowl of fresh mussels, crusty bread, and virtually any artesian cheese.

3.3 Bottle. Pours a clear, crisp, golden color with a nice, white head. Citrusy aroma with a malty finish. Nice, yeasty taste with a hint of grape juice. Spicy bite to it as well. Some hops as well. Very good balance. Nice brew!
3.4 The color of this beer is a slightly hazy light golden color with a medium white head that fades quickly to a white ring. The aroma blends Belgian yeast, sour fruit, light malts, and a hint of citrus hops; the taste is mildly sweet and slightly sour, and the mouthfeel fuses a medium-light body, nearly flat carbonation, slick texture, and a finish that extends the flavor even after the beer is swallowed.
3.4 Cloudy golden and light copper coloured body with a thinnish white head. Aroma of yeast, caster sugar and a hint of wheat with a nice alcohol bite in the nose as well. Medium-bodied; Biting yeast and wheat flavours at first with a definite sweetness of caster sugar and some curacao. Aftertaste shows some mildish notes with wheat and yeast dominating and hints of very light hops and some alcohol assertiveness as well. Overall, a nice belgian ale with some mild notes compared to others from the style/country, but not amazing of course. I sampled this bottle direct from the source by an employee on 07-June-2014 in Denver, Colorado at the brewpub.
3.2 Rated on 4-25-2011. This bottled beer pours a small fizzy head that quickly dissipated, hazy pale yellow body, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, lots of floaties, and no lacing. The aroma is malty, some hoppiness, sweet, fruity, and spicy. The taste is sweet, fruity, malt, some hops, spicy, yeasty, and a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. In conclusion, this beer is easy drinking, worth trying and a beer I would drink again.
3.1 At Great Divide with Stephen. Pours cloudy neon orange. Aroma is big wheat Belgium fruit, phenolic, creamy orange peel. Taste is wheat, fruity orange, yeast.
3.1 bottle. hazy golden with one finger head. light body with some yeastyness. needs a bit more flavor.
2.9 Pours hazy gold with white head. Aroma of citrus and yeast. Bold flavor of citrus, yeast, and grains. Hades gone wild.
3.2 Tasty strong golden ale. Can't rate it at the top, but at no fault of the beer, I'm just not interested in golden ales.
2.8 Draft at the brewery. Pours clear amber gold with a thin white head. Tastes musky, like lemony citrus, coriander, and booze. Medium body and low carbonation. Smells like wheat, grains, lavender, and light yeast.
3.5 Tap at the brewery. Pours clear, bright gold with fizzy white head. Aroma is cereal and biscuit malts, floral and grassy notes, Belgian yeast, and some orange peel. Flavor is chewy malt base with light floral hop notes, Belgian yeast backbone, and light fruit esters; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
4.0 Odd but I like it. Hades is a Belgian Ale that doesn’t seem to want to commit to one particular style, and that’s okay by me. It’s hoppy, yeasty, malty, earthy, and sour. All of the aforementioned flavors are big when they reach their turn. The flavor transcends styles, really. Some will like that about Hades and others will be frustrated by it. For me, this beer works well alongside some flavorful cheeses and bread.
3.5 (Backlog) On tap. The look is clear, thin off white head, and golden in color. The smell is spiced, yeasty, fruit, floral hops, and ok. The taste yeast, sweeter, spice, more fruit, and ok.
2.9 At the brewery: Pours clear golden with a white head. I don’t know, but it seemed too clear. Aroma is light Belgian yeast, with some malt, a bit of fruit, and a tad of spice. Taste is somewhat spicy. Kind of tastes like a blonde ale with Belgian flavor rather than a Belgian ale per se. Not that great. A bit underwhelming.
2.6 Golden appearance. Has a champagne like mouth feel. Spicey taste. Not really a good Belgian but passable. If it comes in the mix 12 pack it is drinkable given the other 3 brews it comes with are probably off the charts good!
3.4 The is a good Belgian. I'm not getting the spice as much as the fruity, malty sweetness.
3.5 This is a pretty decent belgian style beer. The spicyness is apparent, has some citrus with a nice dry finish.
2.7 Very clear golden. Almost as thing looking as the nomad pils. Flavor is slight licorice/anice and generic ale flavor. Not too exciting.
2.8 Not pleased with this one. Golden color with white foam. Aroma is spicy but more like a light lager than a Belgian. Mouth feel is thin and body is light caramel. Finish is not bad but doesn’t make me want another one.
4.1 From 12 oz bottle into a Renegade tulip glass. Pours a straw gold yellow with small head. Aroma of straw hops, honey, banana, slight candy cane. Medium carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of sweet malts, powder sugar, grassy hops, banana, bubblegum, lychee, slight lavender and ginger. Overall flavorful with a significant body, complex yet tasty and refreshing.
3.9 Bottled Feb. 2013. This stuff seems to benefit significantly from 6 months in the bottle. Aroma is prominent and fruity. There is almost no color and the beer is extremely clear. The flavor is mostly of yeast with some complexity. It is unusually dry but maintains a roundness bordering on creamy.
3.4 Draft sample at the brewery. Pours a clear gold color with a small white head. Aroma of mild spice, dried apricot, sweet and bready malts, and sugar. Flavor of sweet malts, gold raisins, caramel, dried apricot, mild spice, and nectar. Light-medium bodied, with a sweet, dry mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Pleasant, summery Belgian ale.
3.6 Appearance: pours a golden color with some faint amber hues, has a small white head that fades quickly and has minimal lacing Aroma: bread, sour, wild, yeast, smells like a saison, very aromatic Taste: sour, alcoholic kick, lemon, wild yeast flavor, some grass hoppiness on the finish, Palate: has an average to slightly above average carbonation, leaves an alcohol aftertaste with some light bitterness too Overall: not what I was expecting but impressive, lots of alcohol flavor, also lots of wild notes, great beer
2.6 Satan made a beer. And he needs to stay out of the brewing business. He sucks. Beer had hints of the seven deadly sins, Al Pacino in Devil’s Advocate, and Bill Nye the Science Guy’s armpit sweat.
3.0 12 Fl. Oz. Bottle part of a summer variety pack. Poured clear, Golden in color, small white head that dissipated quickly. Aroma of fruit grain and spices. Taste sweet quite fruity with a spicy slightly bitter finish; very well balanced and also hides the ABV pretty well. In my opinion a bit watered down for a Belgian ale but that actually makes it quite refreshing in warmer days.
3.5 October 2010. Tap at the brewery. pours pale yellow with a white head. Grassy with hints of malt and yeast. Citrus flavors with a bit of hops on the finish.
3.5 Pours champagne yellow with high carbonation. Dissipating white head. Aroma- apple? not at all sour. A bit grape, but not over-sweet, not-near sour. Grass hops, gentle backing. Taste- gentle very ripe apple. A bit floral hops on the beginning. Ed souring into a bitter hop apple with bitterish tang.
3.4 Bottle served in tulip. This one says 7.8% abv. Pours clear, pale yellow with almost no head and minimal lace. Very light in color. Bubble gum, light spice, fruit esters, and hay on the nose and palate. Light-med body, creamy texture, and a dry finish. Straight-forward and clean.
3.4 Tap. The look is clear, thin off white head, and golden in color. The smell is spiced, yeasty, fruit, floral hops, and ok. The taste yeast, sweeter, spice, more fruit, and ok.
3.7 Draught at the brewery. Hazy white yellow, tart citrus aroma. Taste very much lemon and orange, even banana in the finish.
