Great Divide Hercules Double IPA

Great Divide Hercules Double IPA

Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules’ aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

3.9 12 fl oz can. This is one big DIPA! Appearance is the usual hazy amber copper pour with a good finger of white froth with moderate retention. Aroma starts off with a burst of citrus fruity notes, but is quickly replaced by strong resin, wood, pine and floral notes. Taste is a hint of fruity sweet, but becomes a massive floral piney and resinous mix, with a long moderate bitter. Smooth to the extent that I had no idea I was dealing with a 10% ABV brew.
3.4 Keg at The Portland International Beer Festival on 19/07/2008. Very resinous flavours with both big bitterness and sweeter tinned fruit flavours vying for attention.
4.0 Alluring citrus pine aroma in an amber copper pour. Hop forward balance with a rich fruit body and sustained bitter finish. Gives no hint of its not inconsiderable strength - which makes it dangerously delicious.
3.9 Arancio carico, naso di pompelmo e biscotti di frolla. In bocca luppolo e cacao amaro. 10°, una bomba
3.7 On tap at Beer O'Clock Chamonix. Clear amber with a decent, off-white head. Hoppy and herbal with fruity notes. Malty and sweet with solid hoppy and herbal flavours with a fairly strong bitterness too. Certainly on the sweet side, but decent stuff for sure.
3.8 Can from Beer Republic, canned last January. Pours copper color with medium head. Aroma of pine, citrus, malts, resin, caramel, pineapple. Piny and citrusy taste, above medium bitterness, slight alcohol. Good amount of malts balanced with the hops, overall strong and balanced double IPA. Slight off-taste, maybe from the age
4.1 Draught, early 2018. Citrus, pineapple, resin, tea. Sweet, slick, very bitter. A hop liqueur with a solid malt base. Superb.
3.9 Tight bubbly off white head stayed on reddish brown still. Pine, grapefruit, stewed fruit & malt aroma. Medium bodied, low carbonation, soft over the tongue & cloying. Bitter tangy tastes with pine, malt, grapefruit, grape & stewed fruit.
4.0 Can from Cotteridge Wines. Lovely (and boozy) DIPA with which I'm surprised is not in top 50. Anyway... It has pretty much everything you would expect from this style. Very good
4.0 Colore ambrato, schiuma bianca media persiatente, media carbonazione.
4.0 Can, 355 cl. Jesus fckin' Christ! Devastating DIPA from USA. Deep copper with a beautiful foam. The nose is full of tangerine, grapefruit and vanilla. Killer IBU on the palate, brutal taste explosion, very long aftertaste. This one tests U. 20mins have gone and the aftertaste is still persistent. Awesome job, great beer again from America!
4.3 Pours clear amber with nice white head. Very nice nose of resin and tropical fruits like mango and passionfruit. The aroma is also herbal with a hint of tangerine. Taste follows the nose. Lots of resin, nice tropical fruits and slightly sweet. Strong and long lasting bitter finish. Balanced and full of flavor. Want more...
4.2 Can 355ml. Almost clear dark amber with a foamy off white head. Nice hoppy aroma, fruity, citrus. Extreme rich, full bodied. Some alcohol tones. Silky smooth with a firm bitter finish. Really nice one.
3.7 Can shared @Brasserie 4:20 (Rome). Ambrata scarica, mediamente torbida, schiuma bianca media e persistente. Corpo deciso, carbonazione media. Buona.
4.5 Pours orangey bronze with lots of creamy head. Grapefruit, tons of resin, forest tree sap aroma. Massive chewy hoppy brew with a good malty nutty profile. Massive, comparable to 90 minute, but slightly more citrus. Really great heavy duty iipa. Hercules is a face stomper.
3.9 Vycap 100 pív. Vôňa alkoholova ovocná citrusová karamelova . Farba zlatista. Chut karamelova sladova ovocná.
4.1 Vycap. Zlata az oranzova farba, biela pena. Vona sladova, nasladla, citrus, mandarinky, chmel. Chut sladova, citrus, mandarinky, pomaranc. Horka dochut. Plne hutne telo, mierna horka dochut. Vyborne
4.0 Tap. Malty and hoppy aroma, citrus fruit, resin, riped fruit. Tastes the same as aroma, well hidden alcohol, light sweet medium bitter. Full body, long hoppy bitter finish. Good.
3.0 Bonne double IPA.
2.2 Bottle thanks to Vasilije. Epic apricot jam and caramel aroma. Cloudy amber color with minimal sized white head. Sweet jam and peach taste, heavy unbalanced bitterness in aftertaste makes it really unpleasant to drink. Medium body, lively carbonation. Ratings seems very good, I suppose we just had a very old bottle. Too bad.
3.7 Can from ABV. Hazy amber body with a few flecks floating beneath a thick off-white head. Low carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of caramel, earth and honey. Flavour of earth, toffee, menthol and pine. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Restrained and tasty - but not the world class DIPA I was hoping for.
3.7 Bottle 12floz a copper beer with good head and retention. Nose is nice on hop resin, coconut notes, bitter almond, pine, caramel. Very bitter,
3.7 Can. Cloudy amber body with white head. Aroma is pines fruits malts. Taste is malts fruits caramel. Aftertaste is nice balanced
4.2 Tnx to Anita. From 3 DIPAs session it was first.. and only. Super cool new experience with DIPAs. The twist of this brew is roasted malts touch in flavor, classy, balanced pine/citrus bitter flavor and.., super malty, biscuity jet not much pronounced hops aroma. So in aroma and flavor you get different things. I was amazed. Medium body; deep, sufficient bitterness. Flavor and bitterness is just wow. So if you have this beer, you don't need to buy extra cookies. And the roast touch... Mmmm...
3.9 Can from Moscow Co-op. Medium amber with a small, clingy head. Aroma comes in with some sweet malts, and taste comes in bigger, malty and bitter. Hop bite lingers for a while. Tons of caramel and toffee.
4.1 35,5cl Can @ Boxbeers.com, Copenhagen, Denmark. Hazy amber colour with a medium size white head. Aroma is hops, citrus, tropical fruits, malt, sweet. Taste is hops, citrus, peach, mango, herbs, malt, caramel, boozy. Medium body, average carbonation.
Typisk old school rivig västkust-DIPA, men hade gärna sluppit de brända tonerna...
4.0 Perfezione, analfabetissima perfezione.
