Great Divide Lasso IPA

Great Divide Lasso IPA

LASSO is the new frontier of India Pale Ale. Brewed with a robust roundup of Columbus, Centennial and Cascade hops, its sessionable simplicity proves bigger isn’t always better. But make no mistake – the Wild West hasn’t gone mild. That same untamed IPA spirit thrives, and we reckon this’ll go down mighty fine.

3.4 Can from dregs run. Pours clear, bright amber. Nose of apple crumble, resin. Very dry on the palate, pine needles, woody.
3.4 Can at craig’s. Pours clear golden, nose is grapefruit, sweet toffee, taste is dry, prickly, bitter.
3.7 At Craigs year fest, first beer to begin proceedings. Pours pours clear orange with a modest white head. Aroma is mango and tropical fruits. Taste is grassy, medium bitter, orange zest, sweet finish.
3.5 Can at Craigs. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of light citrus, pine. Taste is light bitter, chalky, resin. Bitter finish.

2.9 Poured from a bottle. Pours a clear dark golden with a thick head that dissipates fairly quickly. Has aromas of woody orange. Flavor is nothing special at all to me, plenty of orange, does finish with good bitterness for a session though. Decent, but pretty average.
3.3 Can. It poured gold with a frothy white head and lacing. The aroma was floral and the taste was citrus and earthy. It had moderate bitterness as well.
2.7 12 oz. can into a stange. Canned 09/03/15 A: Poured an entire glass full of head. Hand washed the glass so...unsure what happened here. Mostly clear brass colored body. Big rocky head looks like ice cream soda. Disappointed. OK fuck it, it looks like a beer. S: Malty scent. T: Roundly bitter hops flavor. Earthy and maybe a bit floral. Crisp malts noticed but definitely playing a supporting role. More APA taste than IPA. M: Medium bodied with less carbonation than I expected considering the flood of head at the pour. O: The head overflow may have been my fault. However Average tasting beer + expensive as hell means I wont be buying this again.
3.3 Was balanced and drinkable, probably a nicer pub beer, but didn’t carry over for me.. .
3.1 Can into a glass. Golden pour. Persistent half-inch of thick, foamy head. Aroma of light citrus, some grass, lemon zest. Taste is sweet, floral, lightly bitter, some lingering grassiness. Easy drinking. Refreshing. Nothing special. Solid, inoffensive IPA.
3.1 12oz into bottle. Pours a copper gold. Taste of mineral hops, grass, ripe pineapple. Aroma of dried orange, melon, seemingly up front hops yet distant in the end. Smooth, OK, and done.
3.1 Aroma is rather toned down, but is hoppy alright, with a deeper kind of grapefruit tone and clean malts with an earthy undertone. Taste is lightly sweet, with a down to earth hop profile. Mild resin, northern forest tones, pine and citrus. The bitterness drives in a separate lane, and is quite prominent. I don’t know, it’s kinda... stern and rugged in this otherwise clean beer.
3.2 Pour is a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma is a decent minty and pne hop. Flavor is a more agressive hop with litle or no malt presence. Fi is is a bit thin but you do get some of the hop flavor after th swallow. This is a pretty soild hoppy beer. Since when did 5% beers become session beers?
3.0 Mild aroma of hops, some grass, and pineapple. Deep yellow color, thick white head. Sweet up front, Rich malt mouthfeel. Notes of caramel. Bitterness cuts in nicely. Some pepper and pine in the bitterness. Some citrus comes through. Heavy bitter coat on the finish..slightly off. Average.
3.9 12oz can. Amber color with a white head. Hops lemon grass aroma. Medium body with up from fizz. Hops grass pine flavor. Well balanced.
3.5 Pours hazy orange and hasa lot of sediment in suspension. White sticky head. Aroma is spiced malt. Flavor has a forward bite and is bitter and sweet, well balanced. I expected to not like this due to other reviews, but they were too low. It’s quite delicious.
3.3 Bottle 355ml. Pours golden with low white head. Aroma is of fruits, citrus. Taste is pretty much the same, some bitterness. Palate: Medium body, medium carbonation. Good balance. Overall: Good, classic. Straight-forward and not ground-breaking.
3.5 Aroma: Yeast, Mildly Bready Appearance: Golden Straw / Amber Hue, Passes Lots of Light, White Head, Some Lacing Taste: Drying Yeast, Mildly Bitter Fruit Mouthfeel: Average Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Drying
2.9 This poured a light orange with a white head. Aroma is green hops, light oxidation and caramel. Flavor similar, soapy, old, not great.
2.7 Cor acobreada com sedimentos. Amarga e persistente, mas sem sabor marcante. Cerveja desbalanceada.
3.0 Cloudy, persistent head, little carbonation. Toffee malts nice but hops very soapy, with not much else
3.2 Bottle. Grassy orange peel and orange malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate off-white head. Sweet orange malt and moderately bitter herbal grass flavor. Body a bit light.
3.2 A really nice IPA. Full of flavor but easy to drink all day. Complex hop flavors and a great nose.
4.0 Amber color with a tin head. Strong candied orange and tangerine peel aroma. Punchy grapefruit and tangerine flavor. Highly bitter. Full body. A bit of dark caramel, but finishes dry.
2.6 12oz bottle. Small off-white head atop hazy light amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, orange/grapefruit, light lime. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit, some lime. Light-medium body, low carbonation.
3.5 A nice clear golden color with an inch of long lasting white cap in my glass. Good aromas, plenty of centennial woodiness and bitterness, but enough citrusy hops to keep it a little lighter than the harder hitters. great flavor, and a clean finish for the style. Its got quite a bit of body and as such drinks a little heavier than the session ipa its billed to be. Overall not bad."
3.4 12 oz bottle from Total Wine and More The ale poured a clear light amber with a frothy off white head and lacing. The aroma of malts mixed with grapefruit rind, The floral hop bitterness dominates the beer. The ale had a medium body with average carbonation. The finish had hop bitterness in the back of the mouth. Great Divide is one of my favorite brewers. Lasso is not one of their best efforts.
2.1 Tap at The Blatt in Omaha... nice appearance with notes of citrus/floral, but the most important part.... the taste, average at best. A pretty dry, bitter hop finish. Probably won’t have another one. I’ve had much better session IPA’s. Not a great effort by Great Divide... very disappointed.
3.5 My bottle wasn’t extraordinarily over-carbonated or anything but it was fixin’ to gush so be ready to pour this as soon as you open, at least the current batch. It pours cloudy deep orange w/ a huge, long-lasting foamy head--as you might expect from a slightly over-carbonated beer. Nose is mostly hops, surprisingly floral given the varieties used. I am getting mostly lavender w/ some sweet orange notes. As mentioned, this is definitely over-carbonated but that actually kind of works in this style, especially since it’s full bodied enough that it doesn’t come off as just thin and prickly. I actually think this might have a brett infection or something but it actually seems to be beneficial, adding a fruity complexity and keeping the beer nice and dry. So, hey, probably the next time I get this it will not taste remotely the same but this bottle is pretty good.
3.1 Bottle, shared with Parksy. Medium orange, average off white head. Caramel malt, a bit of pine, light bitterness. The first dud from Great Divide in quite a while.
