3.2 Pours medium-dark amber with a large off-white head that quickly dissipates. Nice aroma of light caramel malts and dry fruit. Flavor is pleasant, full -bodied, light and malty, and a little bitter-sweetness and hops. A good amber. Good full-body.
3.3 Rated 3/7/08. Solid. Pours a real nice hazy amber color topped with a thin head. Still decent lacing left. Mild aroma, some tropical fruit and caramel. Flavors are nicely balanced. Slightly fruity, caramel, toffee, hops. Mild finish. Very easy to drink. Quite good for a usually boring style.
2.9 Flowery and fruity aroma, citrusy and orange. Pours orange to amber, medium off-white head. Some malt in the flavor, with some fizzy hoppyness on the tongue. Not much flavor
3.0 Pours copper. Aroma is mild malts with some yeast. Flavor is caramel and nuts. Very plain regular amber. If you don’t like the amber ales, not something you will kick yourself for missing.
3.3 Slight sweet malt nose. Rich amber with reddish hue. Had a nice caramel/toffee sweetness. Good carbonation. Not my favorite style, but a very enjoyable Amber Ale.
3.4 hazy golden amber in color, nice looking, frothy 1 finger head. nutty malty aroma, with an apricot-like hop addition. pretty smooth going in and warms ya up a bit going down, in a good way. caramel and nut malty flavor, with a very, VERY slight bitter hop finish.
3.4 Bottle. Pours an amber color with a medium off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel and light hops. Taste is semii sweet of malt balanced with a nice hop splash. Medium body with a slightly dry bitter finish.
3.2 bottle poured an amber in color with over the top carbination on the pour producing a white three finger head that overflowed the glass a bit. in the head were a few floaters resembling ground nutmeg. aroma has caramel malt, touch of dark fruit, and a little nuts. mouth feel is medium light again with heavy carbination felt on the tongue. flavor is malted for the most part but not bitter, has some light hops, and finishes with malt and some dry nuttiness. good drinking beer with more yeasty spice as it warms
3.1 12oz bottle(I had it as Arapahoe Amber)-An amber body with a small off white head and an aroma of a little malt. Taste of the same. Not a bad brew but was expecting more. 12oz bottle(1/08)(courtesy of RSRIZZO)-An amber body with a huge off white head and an aroma of malt and surprising hops. Taste of the same with with a nice malt characterisitics and a dry finish. Better than the last time 3.3
2.8 Wanted more from this beer! Didnt have much of a taste or a smell, but for an amber ale its not bad.
3.1 Amber color with some head. Not a whole lot of aroma but what there is is little malt. Light hop tastes balances with the maltiness.
3.0 From 12-oz bottle, acquired from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a semi-cloudy amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin white ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of light roasted caramel malt, some flowery hops, a touch of roasted walnuts and fruit. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with a more caramel malt than hop bitterness or character. Finish is semi-sweet, with a nutty and fruity malt aftertaste.
3.1 light brown ale with a malty flavor (esp. after all the hoppy others from the multipack). Significant bubbles and sweet finish. I wouldn’t go out of my way to find it; but if in Denver I would ask for it on tap often.
3.2 Bottle@Home. Malty and perfume aroma. Reddish amber, beige head, good lace. Sweet, malty, fruity, bitter, light perfumey. Sticky with a thinnish finish. Ok, not exceptional.
2.8 Bottle. Thick and sweet nose, fruity (strawberry and peach) bubblegum and hop resin. Cloudy amber, thin white heady with lots of bubbles. Mild lacing. Interesting flavor, a good deal of honey and pine at the open, finishes with a nutty crystal malt earthiness. A touch harsh on the palate but smooths out at the end. Highly unbalanced.
3.0 Pours a light brown that borders upon amber in certain light. A great effervescence that rises into the thick tan head. Nose is of nuts and caramel malts with faint whispers of hops. Nutty and malty flavor with bitterness in the background, finishing slightly nutty. Medium-light bodied with strong carbonation.
2.9 Bottle. From a multipack that I bought. Pours with a decent head that leaves as quickly as it developed. Great color and clarity. Interesting nose of malt sweetness. Flavor is more roasted and slight hops than sweet malt. Not a bad brew, but surely not a great one. Overrated in my opinion.
3.6 Pours a clear copper with a dense, creamy, beige head with patchy lacing. The nose is malty, nutty and peaty, almost like a Scottish ale. The light side of medium-bodied, the mouthfeel is slick with a toasted, dry finish. The flavor is a lightly sweet toasted malt front with backing notes of nuts and peat. It reminds me a bit of GD’s now retired HotShot ESB, but with added nuttiness and an amped up flavor profile. Despite the general consensus, this is now one of my favorite ambers.
3.0 Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma is malty with earth notes especially potting soil with some nuts as well. Solid roated nuts flavor with some earth notes. Decent malt body with a light somewhat dry finish.
3.2 Clear light amber with a decent looking 1 cm thick off-white head. Mild lightly biscuity malt aroma with a light touch of hop aroma. The taste actually has a hint of bitterness in the profile, but the finish is mostly a lightly sweet malt flavor. A quality offering of an unexciting style.
3.2 Amber brown in color with a white half inch head the dissipates almost immediately. Malty aroma with hint of caramel. A woody taste with strong hop sharpness.
3.9 Pours a hazy golden brown, very much like a well-brewed iced tea. Head is egg shell and normal, not large or thin. Aroma is full and fruity. Rich malt, sugars, and crisp apples and raisins, with just a hint of cinnamon. Actually a really good tasting beer. The mouthfeel is a tad watery. But there is a ton of flavor to go around: caramel, apple, pine, and pear roll into a crisp, prickly burnt sugar/pine cone hop ending. Perfect flavor curve for an amber. The dry and sharp hops never get metallic or harsh. Just an excellent palate finisher to balance the rich malt. This is my new favorite amber. Picked up a 12 oz. bottle at Whole Foods in Falls Church, VA for $ 1.50.
3.1 a beer with a bit of a bitter soul. that stands for something. caramel but not sweet. tingly hop with a touch of citrus flavor. decent formula but also a tad soapy. light quality bitter aftertaste with that caramel on the backbeat. but then all in all cleanish on the finish.
3.2 Another beer on the light side from Great Divide. A little more taste than Samurai. Good matl and hop flavors with just a little bite at the finish. Good light brown color with a medium head.
3.4 Aroma is faint with some malt tones. Color is a nice brown with good carbonation and thin head. Taste is malty and dry. Starting with a Medium body it goes down with a crisp dry feel. Finish starts in with light roasted malt flavor that blends out to a faint hop flavor then ends with a nice bitterness that leads to a dry feeling after taste. This is a well balanced and tasty beer. One of the best Amber Ales I can remember having.
3.3 Copper in color. Light caramels in flavor and malty base. A little nutty. and Nice hop balance.
3.2 Bottle. Copper color with a medium white head. Aroma is decent, but nothing special. Flavor was sweet, with a touch of caramel and citrus. Slight floral tones to it. A solid refreshing brew.
3.4 Bottle pours a slightly hazy redish amber with a nice dense off-white head. Malty vanilla and caramel aroma. Flavor is woody earthy and lightly toasted malts. Very little hop bitterness and a slight tanned leather note. Quite lievely carbonation, and a moderate light palatte. No real bitterness on the trailer. Not bad for a style that I am not usually too excited about.
3.4 A copper color with a moderate white head. The aroma is somewhat floral with some caramel and citrus fruit. present. The flavor is slightly bitter with some grass, grapefruit, caramel and a bit of a nutty presence. The finish is somewhat bitter with a carbonated mouthfeel. Overall for an amber ale this is pretty good!
3.1 Poured a rich copper color with a good head. Smooth amber with the traditional thickness of a great divide brew. Very good.
