Great Divide Wild Raspberry Ale

Great Divide Wild Raspberry Ale

Great Divide's mantra is that real fruit makes real beer, so Great Divide ferments Wild Raspberry Ale with hundreds of pounds of real red and black raspberries. Wild Raspberry Ale is a truly effervescent, ruby red ale that achieves the almost impossible balance between malted barley and tart raspberry fruitiness. Its naturally tart character makes Wild Raspberry the ultimate accompaniment to spicy Mexican food or on its own as a stand-alone session beer.

3.1 Bottle from Goebel Liquor in Wichita, Different label than what is pictured at RB, but still a nice ruby ish beer, with slight tart flavor, but its no Raspberry Tart
3.3 Bottle from barley wine cph. Clear raspberry scent, but less in the taste than expected. But that is probably to it´s advantage a the maltstructure is pretty regular for a pale ale and not a lambic one. Really drinkable.
3.3 There is more aroma than flavor. Trying to get a a strong raspberry flavor we would be difficult. Not much of a finish but a good fruit beer overall.
3.0 Pours a reddish brown with no head. Aroma of malt, alcohol and raspberries. Taste is raspberries, kinda artificial. Astringent and alcohol. Not bad but not great
3.3 Ruby colored and clear, one finger slightly pink head and ok lacing. Aroma is raspberries, malts (biscuit, bready), a little toffy. Flavor is fruity, dryly so, with a crisp, clean raspberry flavor that compliments the maltiness but doesn’t overpower. Hop bitterness is minimal. Easy to drink, light, with a dry finish. It’s quite tasty, an easy drinker good for an outdoor afternoon.
2.7 Bottle poured a crystal clear amber w/ a ruby tint and small white quickly diminishing head. Light aroma of berries. Initial flavor is light acidic w/ a light sour finish. Taste is fruity berries and light bread. While the flavor is pleasant it is not a complex beer, light easy drinker. Watery to dry in texture and lively carbonation.
3.9 Poured from a 12 oz bottle into stemmed tulip glass. Aroma is malty with a slight raspberry hint. Color I a very dark amber. Flavors of malt and tart raspberry. A very dry finish. I normally prefer a little more sweetness in fruit beers. High carbonation sort of mask the flavors. Ok, after warming up and losing some carbonation, this is tasting better. The bitter dry finish is either going away or I'm getting used to it. Would definitely drink this again.
2.0 Poured into a tullip shaped glass from a 12 ounce bottle. Pours a nice amber color that has a sparkling head to it. Aroma is clean and crips of raspberries and some sourness. Flavor seems light overall. You can taste the raspberries and some sourness. However it is very carbonated and that takes away from it.
3.0 Draft at source. Deep amber with a splash of red/pink. Aroma is a nice tart background raspberry with some wheat malt. Flavor falls off with a bitter raspberry and water-soaked wheat malt. Quite dry with a bitter raspberry finish.
3.4 Aroma is malts and raspberries. The flavor is raspberries, mildly nutty malts and a mix of mild tartness and maltiness in the finish.
3.0 Bottle to pint. Looks decent; a ruby tint that indicates the presence of raspberries. Smells and tastes alright, but not special. Obvious fruit influence, but nothing much beyond that. Average on the palate. Alright, not great.
3.1 Taken from old notes. Deep ruby pour. Nose of sweet raspberries. Taste is tart and a carbonated finish. Not bad for a fruit beer.
3.4 Interesting! In a nut shell.....Raspberry cheesecake. Real fruit flavor. Wheat undertones. decent beer.
2.5 Pours a pale ruby reddish/brown. Aroma is big fresh berries but taste is just kind of juicy. Like Juicy Juice. No amount of tartness to really speak of. Not terrible, but nothing notable either.
2.4 On tap at Great Divide. Pours a nice red color. Nose has a good dose of berries. Flavor is full of berries and not too much else. A bit boring.
3.3 Taste is dark fruit and malt. This one is like a nice after dinner wine. Smooth and slightly sweet.
3.4 What a great way to beat the heat during this hot-as-hell summer. Not exceptional, but well worth for the fresh raspberry aroma and flavor--with a considerable malt backbone. Solid.
3.6 I love that this isn’t just a candy-flavored fruit beer. Subtle tartness blends with the raspberry sweetness and creates a complex beverage. Ruby color, a thin white head. Nice.
2.7 Tap. Clear reddish amber, minimum head, no lacing. Sweet aroma dominated by raspberry and grain. Taste is all raspberry from start to finish.
3.5 Heavy raspberry aroma. Very light beer. Sweet flavor but not too much to it. A nice lighter beer.
3.7 Pored into pint glass. Poured nice frothy head with color dark brown / copper. Raspberry ice tea is the nose. Truly fruity with heavy flavors of eating fresh raspberries. Some bitter malt there too for a good balance. Not bad!
2.0 part of a mix pack. foggy light red/pink color. aroma was pretty nice raspberry and the taste was of the kind but set off with a good balance of wheat and real beerness. Refreshing and light fruitiness.
1.6 Pours a caramel red color with a thick head if poured with gusto. Head quickly dissipates leaving only thin leftovers. The smell is off. A little sour, definite malt characters and slight mark of hay. The taste leaves little to be excited about. I couldn’t get over the awful metallic taste which i awesome was supposed to be a shot at rasberries. I first starting drinking this freezing cold. As it warms the smells become a lot more pleasant and the rasberries are very distinct, taste remains unpleasant though. I wanted to like it because the rest of Great Divides selection has really impressed me.
2.5 (12oz bottle) Pours a deep reddish brown body with small off-white head. Aroma of raspberries, sugar, and wheat. Flavor of raspberries, wheat, and caramel with a somewhat dry finish.
3.0 12 oz bottle pours a redish color with a nice white head. Aromas of raspberry, bigtime. medium bodied with raspberries in the taste. Almost too much
3.2 Aroma of raspberries and a little citrus. Pours reddish amber with an off white head. Taste is very sweet with raspberry and fruit juice.
3.4 Pours a ruby/orange haze with a short-lived off white finger of head. Smells fresh - soft fruits, crisp greens, smells like spring. Taste nearly mirrors the nose. Very subtle tartness that comes with the fruit. A very approachable, balanced fruit beer. Don’t mind getting a few of these in a mixer.
2.7 Bottle. Pours a reddish brown with a puffy white head. Aroma is full of raspberries. The taste is fruity and full of carbonation. This is not a fruit beer i’d recommend.
2.6 Bottle. Orange/pink pour with a white head that dissipates quickly. Nose was actually quite mild - lager with a hint of raspberry. Palate is a tad thin. Taste was dull - kind of flat, raspberry didn’t really pop out at all. I’m wondering how old this bottle is.
2.4 Ok beer. Aroma medium and sweet. The taste is strongly fruity and tart with a hint of sour.
