Great Divide’s Yeti Imperial Stout is an onslaught of the senses. An almost viscous, inky-black brew, Yeti opens with a massive, roasty, chocolate, coffee malt flavor that eventually gives way to rich toffee and burnt caramel notes. Packed with an enormous quantity of American hops, Yeti’s hop profile reveals a slightly citrusy, piney, and wonderfully dry hoppy finish. 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

I reviewed this beer on RB a long time ago when it was last sold in Wisconsin. They keep losing my reviews. It's really getting old. Appearance is an opaque pitch black with a tan foamy frothy head that just sits there. The aromas are roast, black patent, dark malt, cocoa. Flavors are like nose, somewhat sweet up front but balanced with carbonation and bitterness. Good body and a lingering bitter finish.
La brasserie Great Divide nous propose un Imperial Stout qui va dans les extrêmes et qui de fait le rend très spécifique. Non pas que celui-ci présente un alcool tonitruant ou des intensités à la Pohjala, mais le sucre, peu présent ne donne pas cette rondeur présente dans beaucoup d'Imperial Stout, ce qui lui donne un côté brut et de l'astringence. Le visuel est sur un noir total avec une mousse brune s'estompant rapidement. Le nez est avant tout sur le café avec du cacao, un léger fumé et de la vanille. L'ensemble fonctionne bien. L'attaque présente un bon équilibre malt/houblon (44 d'IBU), sur un cocktail proche du nez. La deuxième bouche est franche voir un peu raide avec de l'astringence. Cela donne un effet rustique à l'imperial stout avec un sucre peu présent pour le genre. Cela fait également ressortir l'amertume. L'alcool, à 9,5% est pour sa part d'une bonne efficacité. L’arrière-bouche est davantage sur le café qui devient charbonneux sans un second temps. Le final est long et brut, avec un alcool conférant une bonne tension. Proposition intéressante de ce Yeti, (merci beaucoup Vincent !) sans toutefois complètement me convaincre.
Pitch black pour with a beautiful creamy mocha head. High on vanilla and chocolate notes, fudge, somewhat vinous and surprisingly hoppy aroma. Not overly sweet, over medium bitter. Over medium bodied with soft to average carbonation. A winner. The bitterness is very pleasant.

Pitch black with a brown head that crowns the liquid beautifully. It looks like a luxurious fresh espresso.
Coffee and high-end milk chocolate on the nose. Slight porter/stout bitterness in the background. A nice balance.
More power and bitterness in the taste vs on the nose. Distinct dry bitterness in the finish that overtakes the sweetness from the nose. The chocolate notes have gotten darker.
The Yeti is a classic and always lives up to high expectations. I personally prefer it slightly sweeter but this is quality beer.

Black chocolate+, roasted cereal, light caramel, light cinnamon. Medium DRY refreshing bitter, light to medium round gourmet sweet, light warming background. Good body, smooth-creamy texture, soft gaseous to flat, roasted chocolate round bitter finish. Overall, superb !
Can. Jet black with a brownish head. Rich flavour, malty and chocolatey. Really smooth, really good.
Canned 0,355L. Dark brown color, creamy and fully lasting nut head of long resistance. Heavy malt and caramel aroma, notes of chocolate, braced malt, dark bread, smoked impression. Sweet and bitter solid palate, equilibrate and pleasant alcoholic impression, syrupy and soft carbonation body, long chocolate and caramel final.
Cerveja escura, aspecto viscoso. Aroma tostado alcoólico, caramelo, café, chocolate. Sabor com tostado forte, café, chocolate. Amargor marcante. Deliciosa.
Very roasty with notes of strong espresso, extremely dark chocolate, light smokiness and hoppy bitterness with a dry finish. Very nice!
Bomber bottle from lcbo. This is a big brash dark American beer, and the nose announces power richness and dryness. I like the bit of roast and rich chocolate, I also find the caramel sweet element and green-woody hops are a little elementary and strong. Hint of citrus emerges from hops, I like that element. Some mineral. Lacks huge complexity and has a woody dry finish. Not my favorite style or RIS but good for its style.

Can ordered online from Beautiful Beers in Bury St Edmunds. Drunk at home. Dark brown, almost black opaque with a tiny tan/khaki head. Chocolate, marshmallow, roast coffee, pine and naked booze in the aroma. Sweet initial taste followed by uncompromising hop bitterness, with added notes of citrus peel and more pine in the finish. The bitterness lasts on the tongue long after the sip. Thick, pily body with medium carbonation. A really special imperial stout.
Tight rocky light brown head left a good froth on a thick black still body.

12 fl oz can. Appearance of the pour is a dark brown black, topped with a massive head of brown froth with good retention, and is easily regenerated by swirling all throughout. Aroma is straightforward chocolates and raosted malt. There is some fruity citrus hops, but you'll only get them as an aftertaste/smell and not in the main whiff upfront. Taste is similarly dark chocolates and dark roast. A little coffee perhaps but it is mixed up in the roast and bitterness which reveals some piney and woody notes. Medium to full bodied, smooth with the ABV well hidden.
Can (got it as a present in NL) pouring deep pitch-black with one of the darkest brown heads I ever saw; huge and frothy, with quite good retention. Aroma of deep dark-roasted malts, with light choco; not so much more, without missing that. The taste exposes a firm but delicate medium sweet and moderate bitter sense of dark chocolate and bit coffee, in a also delicate indeed bit piney bitter finish, lasting in aftertaste; nice and very well-balanced. Oily, very creamy feel. Very nice imperial stout, this one. The more I drink, the better I like it. (Makes me curious towards a BA version).
Pours a black colour without any highlights. The head is huge, creamy, bubbly, frothy, mocha-coloured with excellent, everlasting retention and creamy lacing. Roasted malt aromas with some chocolate, vanilla and coffee notes. The taste is bitter with dark chocolate, burnt malts and grassy hops. The mouthfeel is slick, wet, but with a little dryness in the finish. Alcohol is well-hidden in the hoppiness. Quite a nice hoppy, bitter, Imperial Stout.

Si presenta con schiuma spumosa ma che si dissolve in fretta.
Frizzantezza presente ma non eccessiva.
Birra interessante, da provare.
Contro: forse troppo intensa, rischia di stancare.
Imperial stout de 9,5 % abv et 75 ebu, en format 35,5 cl.
A noter qu'il est toujours très agréable de rencontrer le yéti en février,
surtout quand les températures du jour et du lieu avoisinaient les 24° C.
Mon exemplaire, de Denver, Colorado, était à 9 mois avant sa date.
Couleur noir profond aux reflets marron grillé, à l'opacité très forte.
Mousse brun roux foncé, soyeuse, stable à 2 mm.
Arômes de cèdre, baies noires macérées en péket, chêne liège brûlé.
1ère bouche très souple, sur un bois brûlé de la plus belle manière …
(si l'on peut dire, et sans être un pyromane ...)
Arrière-bouche avec une impression de strong dry stout.
2ème bouche avec café serré, poivre, muscade, tabac brun.
Arrière-bouche qui entre dans la complexité, avec une allégresse vive.
Longueur qui trouve pas mal de zestes dans ce café taillé au couteau ..
Jambes très huileuses, limite grasses, très longues.
Levure boisée, vernissée, belle ligne.
Alcool fort, plus haut que son niveau, il fait un 10,5 % tranquille,
mais il se révèle un peu emprisonné sur la longueur …
Il ne peut trouver d'autres issues aux saveurs, juste un peu "coincées".
Finale intéressante, sans problème, mais oh combien discutable ..
CONCLUSION : le yéti est un personnage séduisant (de loin ..), mais
incontestablement excessif, dans tous les sens du terme, et donc si
on est un biérophile averti, on ne va pas lui trouver de 5 à la cote,
malgré les pages qui en sont remplies … Yéti soit qui mal y pense !!
Moralité : grande division (divide) sur la présence de ce yéti .. à 24° C.
(à noter aussi qu'il n'a reçu que des médailles d'argent et de bronze ...)
(à noter enfin qu'il est conseillé avec du steak grillé .. on a compris !!)

33cl blik. Helder donker bruin van kleur, fijne romige bruine schuimkraag. De geur is koffie en chocolade. Smaak is zoet, koffie, chocolade en karamel. Vol body en veel koolzuur.
On tap at Henry's Tavern, Denver on 26-Jan-2020, served in a snifter. Black pour with a medium sized beige coloured head. Aroma of cocao nibs, treacle and coffee. Full body with soft carbonation. Taste of tobacco, caramel, liquorice root and chocolate. Thick and sweet.
Pours black with rich coffee colored head that stays permanently. Taste of mild vanilla, raosty dark chocolate and burnt caramel. Nice low dry bitter finish. Medium body with bit of a soapy texture.
Bue avec Laura en canette devant Rocky III. Bière noire au nez café rond. Top en bouche aussi.
Strong thick coffee flavor combined with dark chocolate. This is what an imperial stout should taste like. Big strong thick and powerful. Nice finish. Well done!
I am not a stout drinker but bought this beer as part of a Brewers Pick 12 pack from Great Divide Brewery. The beer is smooth and creamy like you would expect from a stout, it’s hearty, it’s chocolatey. Having said that I’m not much of a stout drinker, I did drink 2 of these while making dinner for the family, so I did find it be an enjoyable beer out side of my typical comfort zone.
This is a great stout, lots of flavor, rich with full body, strong, not sweet just great. 😊
Bottle. Very dark brown, small to average mostly diminishing dark brown head. Moderate to full, malty and lightly sweetish aroma, light roasted malt, faint coffee, some hoppyness, faint alcohol. Body is medium to full, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, light roasted malt, faint chocolate and some hoppyness, faint alcohol. Finish is average to long, malty and dryish - lightly sweetish, light - some roasted malt and light coffee, faint chocolate, hoppyness, faint - light alcohol. Well hopped IS with light roastiness - not too much coffee. Nice one
Belle robe noire bien opaque. C'est tout ce qu'on peut attendre d'un Imperial Stout. Notes torréfiées, une belle texture un peu visqueuse et une finale chaleureuse.
De “Great Divide” la iconica American Imperial Stout "Yeti” sin duda parámetro actual del estilo, la etiqueta presume un volumen de alcohol de 9.5% y en amargor 75 IBU's, la productora de esta etiqueta es una de las pioneras en el mundo moderno de la cerveza artesanal americana, fundada en Denver año 1994 por Brian Dunn, “Yeti” es una de sus recetas emblema llena de premios y un vivo ejemplo del perfil barroco y saturado que empezó a buscar el cervecero norteamericano como identidad propia y sello característico, abajo una breve descripción de lo que fue degustar esta Ale obscura.
En vista propone una corona de espuma amplia matizada de un tono canela y compuesta de perlas pequeñas a medianas, poca retención, el color del líquido ronda la escala más alta del SRM, sin transparencias un obscuro profundo.
En aroma presenta notas a chocolate, pan quemado, café amargo, carácter a jerez, vainilla, un poco de frutos como ciruela pasa, ligeramente resinosa, la potencia es considerablemente fuerte, muy marcado el carácter de la malta.
Ya en paladar es espesa, tiene un cuerpo pleno, sabores a frutos secos como pasas, café amargo, chocolate del mismo carácter, un poco de dulzor símil al caramelo, un poco terrosa, jerez, también vainilla, amargor pronunciado y casi al final toque resinoso, el alcohol genera algo de calidez en garganta y esófago pero es tolerable y aceptable en el estilo, final seco, regusto de larga duración, sin duda sigue siendo un buen exponente, me encantó y es justo como a mi me gustan las Imperial Stout.
