3.9 650 ml bottle at Hasse. Black with tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, alcohol, chocolate and light soft Belgian yeast notes. Taste is similar, roasted, coffee, chocolate and light Belgian yeast. Nice
3.9 Bottle. Black, low offwhite head. Milk chocolate, fudge, brandy, confect , iodine, licorice notes. Medium full dry body, mellow mouthfeel
4.0 Bottle, forgotten in my cellar for too long. Pours a very dark brown beer with a big beige tanned head on top. Aroma has massive chocolate, caramel and slight roasted malts. Flavor is very sweet, loads of chocolate and dark fruits in there. Belgian yeast is present in the mouthfeel, giving it a nice, light sticky feel just like Belgian strong ales do. Long, sweet aftertaste, mouthfeel is silky and low carbonation. Very nice impy.
3.8 Bottle to goblet Coffee, butterscotch, smoke, cherry, apple. Dark brown, thin mottled off white head. Toffee, malt, orange rind, oak.
4.0 Bottle, 2012 vintage. Thick black pour with a nice layer of mocha coloured head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, anise, and nuts. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, followed by light caramel sweetness, finish is smooth with a bit of roast, mouthfeel is thick, carbonation is medium. Very tasty, another solid offering for the yeti series.
3.9 Bottle from a Denver beer shop. Poured a dark mahogany with a frothy broken tan head. The aroma is yeast roasted malt. The flavour is moderate sweet light bitter with a smooth rich sweet roasty, molasses light liqourice palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.
3.9 Bottle courtesy of and shared with Jmgreenuk. very thin tan head. Clear black pour. Lots of chocolate. Very smooth ris
3.9 Any Yeti-based beer is obviously going to be very good, but there isn’t much Belgian character here and frankly this addition to the lineup seems a bit unnecessary. It just comes across as a lighter Yeti. I’ll give them credit for masking the alcohol very well and producing a smooth and drinkable imperial stout, but it seems a bit unremarkable compared to the other Yeti brethren.
4.3 "Awesome!!! Where chocolate yeti came up just a little bit short, this one did not. not very belgian right out of the gate. maybe that will change over time, but the chocolate roastiness of this beer is simply out of this world. the hops seemed to be toned down to the point that i question if this has the same ibus as original yeti. velvety smooth, no heat, and deeeelicious. if i really wanted a belgian i’d be disappointed, but as a stout - just amazing. THIS is what i wanted ommegang chocolate indulgence to be, and indulgent is the word that best descibes this beer. chocolate up front in the nose and flavor with a hint of fruity belgian yeast and spice only as it warms, and even then, pretty subtle. more sweet than bitter. one of smoother stouts i’ve ever had. 2012 - had 2 or 3 and it has not aged well. chocolate goes bye bye and yeast gets a little funky. not nearly as good as when fresh
3.9 Shared bottle at Borris House, Co Carlow. No notes, rated from memory. Shared bottle at Borris House, Co Carlow. No notes, rated from memory.
3.7 Big bottle.. Big roasted malt, vanilla, nut aromas, with some hints of Belgium yeast in background. Creamy texture. Cocoa flavors. Heavy body. Minty notes with some vanilla and clove. Pretty complex and good.
5.0 Butelka ważna do 1.X.12 r. - degustowana styczeń 2014! Rewelacyjna etykieta. W barwie smolista czerń. Piana niska, brązowa i drobnoziarnista. Aromat powalający! Wspaniały wachlarz nut czekoladowych! Od gorzkiej do mlecznej, aż do leciutkie kakao. Niesamowicie intensywna wanilia. Do tego rodzynki, śliwka, róże, odrobina nut rumowych. Czysta maestria! W smaku wanilia płynąca niesamowitą czekoladową rzeką (ponownie cały przekrój czekoladowych smaków od gorzkiego, po mleczne) pełną rodzynek, róży, ciemnych Średnio intensywna goryczka z nutą palonego słodu. Idealny balans, czysta perfekcja!
3.4 bottle, prague alefest 2012, shared with mowbeer and evan. blackish with a lasting beige head; aroma of licorice, cocoa powder; sweet and chewy malt character with hints of brandy and port. pleasant but doesn’t rise to any great heights
4.1 Roasted malt aroma. Very dark brown head. Black body. Roasted toffee taste with a heavy hoppy after taste, hints if coffee and barley.
3.5 Pour is black with a small amount of milky brown head. Nose has a light roast, hints of licorice and tobacco, and fruity esters. Taste has a bit more malt, light roast, some rich milk chocolate, a bit of sweet fruitiness in back. The Belgian yeast doesn’t really make a huge impact. May add some fruitier notes not typically in an imperial stout. It isn’t a sugary malt or a dark berry. Seems well attenuated, clean, full bodied, and moderate carbonation.
3.8 65 cl bottle @ PBF IX. Pours pitch black color with a nice large beige head. Roasted malts and some faint yeast notes on the aroma, some chocolate, cocoa, and some faint ashy notes. Roasted malty flavor, some chocolate, cocoa, some wooden notes and mild yeasty spiciness. I’d rather drink my Yeti without the belgian elements (though they are very faint here). Very nice anyway. 4324
3.3 Bottled 650ml (BBE 2012, PBF IX) Dark opaque color, brown head. Sticky toasted, some "vintage" cardboardish notes. Full-bodied. Sticky, toasted, vanilla, caramel. Belgian yeastyness gives some fruityness. Normal Yeti is better.
4.0 650ml bottle @ PBF IX BBE 01 OCT 2012 - Pours pitch black with a smooth head. Aroma of roasty malts, yeast, some coffee, spices and chocolate. Taste is smooth, roasty and slightly yeasty with some coffee, chocolate and hints of spices. Finish is smooth, roasty and chocolatey with some licorice and coffee notes. Quite good.
3.9 Bottled@PBF IX. Amber brown colour, small brown head. Aroma is liquorice, some floral notes. Flavour is liquorice, some floral notes and mild bitter notes. Very tasty, even though the normal ones better.
4.0 65 cl bottle @ PBF Ⅸ, BBE 2012 Aroma has cocoa and some dark chocolate. Feels sweet. Flavour has soy sauce, salty licorice, dark chocolate and cocoa. The belgian sourness tries to ruin the Yeti here.
3.9 650 ml bottle @ PBF IX. BBE 2012. Pours a black colour with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, salty licorice and biscuit. Flavour of raisin, roasted malts, some plums, blueberry pie, salty licorice, yeastiness and floral notes. Very mellow but noticeable spiciness with nutmeg and cinnamon notes. Full bodied and soft carbonation. Surprisingly complex.
4.1 Bottle at Craig’s. Pours black, very sweet chocolate, dry bitter coffee, some belgian spices.
4.2 Pours black almost oil like with same type of viscosity and tan head. Cocoa, roasted malt, and some dark fruit notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Full bodied this will leave you satisfied.
4.2 65 cl bottle. Pours pitch black with yellow cream head. Coffee, chocolate and Belgian yeast in aroma and taste. Niiiice!
4.1 This one poured a very dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma was of typical yeit dark chocolate and ash, but with nice fruity and belgian spicey undertones. Falvor was similar, orangey chocolate taste, light ash and smoke. Really interesting take ont he base beer.
4.0 Volle zwarte kleur met een goede bruine kraag. Ruikt koffie, gebrand, chocolade. Smaakt vol, koffie, chocolade en mout. Iets fruitig en een bittere afdronk.
4.1 I guess a 2007 bottle. Best before past 2012. Pours a pitch black beer with a good brown head. Smells dark chocolate, roasted and alcohol. Tastes chocolate, bit vanilla, rye. Low carbo, medium body and a sticky oily texture.
4.2 Bottle, bought @ Beer City, Belgium. Pours deep dark opaque black with a lovely, large, creamy, beige head. Aroma has plenty chocolate, cocoa, soft coffee, esters, nuts. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has dark chocolate, soft smoke, light vinious, vanilla. Fine, lingering malty bitterness. Very tasty.
4.0 (Bottle) Black colour with dense, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of black coffee, dark fruit, raisins, brown sugar, black rye bread and orange peel. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, orange peel, raisins, black rye bread, dried figs, blueberries, a slightly spicy yeast character and a generous spicy coffee/cocoa bitterness in the finish. Full body, fairly sweet. Possibly a bit more fruity and spicy than the original, but interesting and very tasty. Excellent beer.
3.9 Bottle. Pours opaque black with a medium creamy dark brown head that dissipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is chocolate, roasty malts, a bit of ashtray, light anise. Flavor follows, light plus sweet, medium bitter, chocolate and roasty with light anise. Not much going on that is Belgian here. Medium body, somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Nice as would be expected from the series.
