Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout - Oak Aged

Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout - Oak Aged

Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling -- Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti? 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

4.1 Bottle, courtesy of SinH4. Pours black and with a dark beige foam. Aroma is green peppers, little barrel with vanilla, wood. Body is heavy, sweet and bitter, but also oxidizedly acidic to relieve some of this massive beer. Spicy again, but in a balanced way. Good.
4.1 Bottle. Black color with beige head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted, earthy. Taste is chocolate, coffee, roasted. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Very nice, not too much barrel, just the perfect amount to give it great balance!
No i czekolada przyjemna.
4.0 A nice and lingering brown head. Clear black color. Oaky and roasted aroma with nice vanilla touch. The vanilla smothes the hard roasted malts in the taste. Sweet caramell taste with a robust bitterness.
3.9 Pours black with thin med brown head. Nose is roasted coffee and oak. Coffee, chocolate and vanilla taste. Lingering bitter finish. Tasted better just above room temperature. Could drink two but not much more.
3.9 Bottle. Thanks to Saeglopur. Black body with brown head. Aroma is malts caramel fruits plums. Taste is roasted malts dark caramel bitter coffee vanilla. Aftertaste is nice roasted malts bitterrness.
4.1 650 ml bottle, bottled 14.11.2016, shared by Saeglopur, many thanks! Pours a thick black with a light brown head. The aroma is full of roasted malt (toffee, cocoa, nuts, burnt wood) along with oak, prunes, raisin and quite some vanilla. Medium to full creamy body with a low carbonation, a medium sweetness, a light bitterness and some noticeable alcohol - nicely balanced. The flavor is full with loads of roasted malt - toffee, chocolate, hazelnut, burnt wood, licorice - along with wood and vanilla. Different roasted malt flavors which evolve from mildly roasted malt to burnt notes towards the finish. Overall not to sweet and lovely diverse Imperial Stout. Aroma: 8 Appearance: 4 Taste: 8 Palate: 5 Overall: 16
4.0 Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 16 650 ml bottle from Beergium, bottled Nov 14 2016. Black body, with a medium, creamy, lacing, coffee-colored head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, tobacco, some leather, some smoke, liquorice. Tastes similar, pretty dry, with more wood. Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes dry, medium roasty, wooden, with coffee, cocoa powder, liquorice, some smoke, slight leather. Very nice. Greatly balanced, with a great dryness throughout. Well integrated barrel notes, just providing some more dry wooden notes. Not as good as the regular version in my option, but great stuff.
3.4 0,65l bottle at home shared by Saeglopur, big thanks. BB 11.14.2016. black color, small coffee colored head. smells earthy, licorice, cocoa, vanilla, nice smell. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, leathery, licorice, peppery, caramel, vanilla. finishes rather bitter with notes of vanilla, earthy notes and leathery notes. decent but not a fan, rather bitter with notes of earthy notes and vanilla (not a fan of vanilla unfortunatly). just drinkable.
3.4 From Sep 2007 Purchased at Wilbur's Liquors in Ft Collins for US$5.99 for the bomber. It pours a near pitch black, no, it's more of a very very dark brown with a nice creamy tannish head of foam that sticks around for the duration and it has some lacing. The smell is very woody and malty and fruity. Nice nose. The taste has big notes of caramel malt and chocolate up front. After a few more sips, I get the Oak in the flavour along with sour cherrries and some very bitter hop, the latter of which, dominates near and through the finish. The body is medium to heavy and the carbo is lightly done. Oh, and the alcohol starts to become more noticeable, especially after the swallow....quite warming. Well, I've tried this one and the non oaked version and I like the non oaked more. Still, this is a fine sipping IS and I'd buy it on the odd occasion without feeling any regret.
4.2 Lucky enough to try this at a bottle share last Sunday. Holy shit this is a revelation. Pours a purely black, jet and opaque with a thick tan head that subsides slowly. The nose is heavy with oak, rich dark chocolate, roasted malts, espresso and big vanilla bean notes. Heavy, viscous and oily body with no carbonation. The aftertaste is bitter from the roast and a coffee flavours lingers on. This is one hell of a beer.
4.2 Bottle 33 cl. Black with a nice light brown head. Aroma of liquorice, chocolate, wood and some dark fruit sense. Sweet with a nice warm chocolate and licorice end.
3.8 Ładnie prezentujące się piwo, czarne z niezłą pianą. Aromat intensywny głównie palone słody i chmiel, dalej kawa plus gorzka czekolada.
4.0 Nice must try
4.4 So Yeti Imperial Stout is already a personal favorite, is Oak Aged going to improve on that? That is why we try them out is it not? This bomber came from the Dallas area, appreciating the opportunity of course. Poured into my New Belgium tulip glass it passes the first test. It shows a jet black body and a dark tawny brown head which shows signs of good lacing. Lifting to my nose I find dark chocolate, cherry and a promise of spiciness. A drink, like wow, sensory overload. Coffee, bittersweet chocolate, burnt pecans, toffee sweetness, a richness from the oak I assume. A moderate bitterness from start to well after finish. Very full, very complete. Now when am I going back to Big D?
3.8 Aromat: konkretnie nachmielone i palone, czekolada, kawa. Smak: Powtorka z aromatu w smaku, cholernie nachmielone i mocno palone. Bardzo wymagające i ciężko takie piwo zmęczyć.Kompletnie nie zasługuje na top 50, przypomina mi Pracownie Piwa Mr Hard's Rocks American Man (Pracownia lepsza).
3.6 Chmielowo-ziolowe, dosc nietypowe w aromacie i smaku jesli chodzi o ten styl.
3.9 Kawowo, chmielowy. Nieco drewnianych akcentów. Zabrakło wanilii. Brakuje nieco ciała i sztisowej gładkości.
4.1 1pt 6 fl oz bottle @BierCab, Barcelona. 13-06-2017. BBD: not noticed but who cares anyway. In short:solid aged IStout. Pours quite black withnice light tan head, short head retention, some lacing. Roasty, licorice, coffee, molasses, dried fruit, nutes and wood nose, quite complex but well balanced, everything working together. Full bodied, soft carbonation, viscous texture. Taste follows the nose, robust beer but smooth and delicate at the same time, tons of roasty, chocolate and malty flavours, paired with wood and coffee, well integrated. Very enjoyable.
3.6 Dense bodied and dark foam. Strong roast flavor and persistent after taste. Gets better as it warms up in the glass.
1.8 Bottle sharing during Hevelka. Probably infected bottle because tasted like shit mostly... Lot of expectations and big disappointment
3.3 Bottle shared at tasting. Black beer with rocky brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, bitter chocolate, wood, herbs, licorice, some coffee, pine. Taste is medium sweet and medium to heavy bitter, dark chocolate, coffee, roasty, wood, licorice and again herbs, pine. Woody, burnt coffee finish. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft to average carbonation. OK, but worse than regular Yeti - very woody, herbal, not so balanced. Shared 2016 bottle - very similar beer (the same score).
3.8 Pours jet black with tan head. Scent is raisins, malts, chocolate, molasses, and oak. Taste roasted malts, prunes, vanilla, and coffee. Big and boozy. A good imperial stout. Not amazing to me.
4.6 Pours black, slight crimson in the edges, darn tan head, uniform cascading lace. Nose is a remarkable blend of vanilla, wood, coffee, fudge, even cinnamon. Full body, chocolate appears now with the vanilla, coffee bean, fresh roast coffee, sweet lactose, molasses. Excellent!
4.3 bomber pours black with cocoa head aroma is chocolate smoke and vanilla flavor is chocalate coffee and a slight bitter finish very nice
3.8 Deep brown to black color, dark brown head. Dried fruit nose, roasted malt, coffee, wood, vanilla, brown sugar. Roasted malt taste, sweet notes with caramel and vanilla, wood, dark chocolate, bitter coffee finish. Full body, soft carbonation, oily texture.
3.9 Pours out a deep black with slight lacing brown head. The aroma is coffee and oak. The taste is complex with a nice coffee taste well balanced with hops and a good bitterness in the finish.
