4.2 Bottle pours ruby brown beige head with good lacing. Rich toasty chocolate malt aroma. Big bodied porter, rich sweet molasses, chocolate. Finish is the aame with a hint of smoke. Paired very well with a bacon cheeseburger! Great beer!
3.3 Kind of watery. A little to sweet for me. Bad batch?
3.5 Flasche in Philadelphia. Dunkles Rot-Braun. Viel Schaum. Malziges Aroma, Schokolade, geröstetes Malz, Kaffee. Geschmack: Moderat Süß, fruchtig, Schokolade, Karamell. Bitter
4.0 Dark brown body. Aroma is nutty with some caramel and chocolate. Taste is also nutty and chocolate sweet. Texture is smooth.
2.0 Mostly dark but with light notes
3.0 Bottle. A- Toffee, tobacco, cocoa, roasty. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Roasty, char, cocoa, mild bitterness. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- One year past the drink by date. Seems to be what I am good at these days...drinking old beer. Still seemed to hold up.
3.7 355ml bottle. Dark brown colour. Off-white head. Big notes of coffee grounds, vanilla, chicory wood, cherries. Lots of bitterness to offset the sweetness. Very good.
3.1 Smooth, bittersweet chocolate and not much coffee taste which is nice. Not the most crisp ending. Some hop spiciness at the finish. Not bad.
3.0 Solid porter
5.0 A tan head of roasted malt greets the nose. Flavor is rich roast that runs deep with a nice bitter edge lingering on the pallet. Well done.
4.0 Espuma marrón de consistencia media, color chocolate negro opaco, intenso aroma con notas tostadas y café, sabor fresco con final de notas amargas
4.0 12oz bottle at home. Pours clear dark brown with reddish edges and a thin tan ring. Cocoa, vanilla, roasted malt, hint of coffee. Soft carb and texture, medium body. Lingering chocolate and malt finish. Excellent.
3.7 Pours clear, dark mahogany with a one finger, tan head. Aroma is cocoa, coffee and roast. Taste is chocolate, moving to coffee and roast. Finish is roast. A tasty porter.
4.5 Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass. A thick tan head falls slowly with abundant lacing. Dark red-brown color. Aroma of cocoa, dark bread, earthy hops. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy with dry powdery finish. Flavor is rich chocolate, cocoa powder, coffee, citrus and earthy hops. Overall: extremely good porter.
3.3 Deep dark brown with a thick light tan head. Burnt, chocolate, and coffee aromas. A little on the tart side.
4.3 Good porter. I’ll come back to it
3.3 First time sampling this brewery....and first beer from Cleveland I think. A good resemblance of the style, just seems like it's missing a bit of quality. On the thinner side, but has a nice burnt/roast chocolate malt profile. Mild hop balance that is more like a UK/European porter versus the hoppier American porter. Enjoyable but I have found a few from the New England area that are becoming my go-tos.
5.0 Yeahhhhhhh
4.5 A little bit of head. Very dark caramel color. It hits you with a bit of hops, with an after taste of hops and chocolate. Aroma is deep and chocolatey. An average stout but very solid and definitely a sipping beer
3.6 Looks kind of like a Coke in the glass. Not in a bad way, but there isn't much head. Nice and bitter with good coffee flavor. Pretty crisp and refreshing for a porter too.
3.6 Bottles 5-10-18
2.7 It's a good beer but this one is not in the top 10 for me. I prefer the chocolate porters.
3.6 Smooth flavor but not robust. The palate is mild but leaves a flavor in the back of the throat.
3.9 Clear dark cola colored with ruby highlights and a large beige head with great retention. Great lacing. Classic porter profile. Lightly bitter dark chocolate flavor with just a hint of roasted coffee. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel.
3.8 Bottle. A: Semi-glossy black with a creme color head and light lacing. M: Cocoa, earth, coffee, ash, charred biscuit and malts, touch of molasses, more of the baker' s chocolate coming up throughout. Bark and some leafiness. Tastes like it was filtered through charcoal. T: Very roasty and bitter with an underlying sweetness that takes the back seat to the campfire and coffee. M: Medium body, creamy carbonation, no alcohol presence. O: Pleasant porter. A big roasty boat of a beer. A standard and for good reason.
3.1 Bottle from Consumer Beverages. Dark brown, beige head. Roasty and fruity, no coffee nor chocolate. Slight bitterness. A bit light bodied.
4.0 Where Purchased: 347ml bottle part of a Great Lakes mixer pack at Meijer Consumed: from a pilsner glass Aroma: Smells malty with a fairly heavy sour note. Not much else there. Appearance : filtered dark brown with lots of head that last to the last drop. Excellent lacing. Taste: very smooth, malty, slightly sweet and a hint of bitterness. Palate : medium to heavy body. Slight bitter aftertaste. Good carbonation. Overall: very well balanced and easy drinking. Other then the smell this is a near perfect example of the style. I was glad to try and will buy again. MB. The Beer "Bear"on.
3.6 Bottle. Rich, bitter, with hints of coffee. Good qualf. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
4.3 Pours an amber brown with a thick white head. A little more hoppy tasting than a typical porter. Crisp with a soda taste. A really nice example of a classic porter.
4.4 From Nov 2007 I got this in a trade with autumnaldave. Thanks Dave! This pours from 12oz bottle(best by 2/11/08) a clear dark brown with reddish hues and a small 1 finger head of foam that recedes to a fine broken layer after some time but the good lacing lasts even longer. Very appealing to look at in my glass. The smell is of chocolate, roasted malt, and a touch of hops. The taste is big roasted and caramel malt and chocolate notes with a nice thick mouthfeel and light carbonation. More sips in and there's a mild infusion of hop bitterness that takes the edge off the sweetness a bit and it does a nice job of it. Wonderful bitterish aftertaste going on here. Wow. Tasty as heck but so damn smooth drinking and for me, something I'd consider quite sessionable. I can't get over how nice the chocolate is in this Porter and how well all the flavours work together. I just found my new favourite example of the style, me thinks. This is one that certainly deserves to be sought out! Thanks again, Dave!!
