Great Lakes Lake Erie Monster

Great Lakes Lake Erie Monster

Issue a small craft advisory: this South Bay Bessie-inspired brew launches an intense hop attack amid torrid tropical fruit flavors.

Astonishingly full-bodied, with a leviathan load of American hops.

4.4 Pours light golden and translucent with a white head. Tastes of sweet hops and a little alcohol with a moderately bitter finish. It’s clear, yet medium to full-bodied with lively carbonation. A big, savory IPA.
3.9 This is just a bit too sweet, which in turn let’s the alcohol come through. Not a favorite of the style for me.
3.5 Bottle from J’s. Pours a clear, deep gold with a small finger of head that dissipates almost instantly. Oranges, malt and caramel dominate the nose. Light on the palate, citrus and orange hardcandy. Caramel and booze. Finish is a little hot.
3.8 Big aroma over a small white head. Taste is bursting with tropical flavor. Nice long finish. Very drinkable at 9%. Very good but not quite great.
3.1 Overripe orange, lemongrass, and ash nose, not strong. Cloudy orange, thick sticky yellow head. Sweet triple sec, vegetal, tangerine. Full body, easy carbonation, warm. A bit cloying.
3.9 This is a great IPA. Pour is cloudy amber with a small head. Aroma is sweet and hoppy with lite earth tones. A creamy beer hops to go around and a earthy but sweet finish that leaves you a little bitter !
4.1 Great looking, smelling, and tasting brew. In short, this is ideal for fans of Dogfish Head's seminal 90 Minute IPA but with a bent towards more tropical than resinous hops. Great for a hot summer afternoon
3.8 Really good beer. A great taste for an imperial IPA. Hoppy and citrus on the finish. Pours nice.
4.0 This is a balanced but complex imperial IPA, and I really like it. It pours hazy orange, average head, with an aroma of caramel, booze, and big, dry, bitter hops. The flavor is sweet up front and then closes with a burst of hops and vapor on the back of the tongue. Finish is sweet again. Nice.
3.5 Pours orange with a moderate white head. Smells of citrus and caramel. Taste is balanced bitter and sweet. Citrus, caramel and bread, bit of pine and hint of mango and pineapple.
3.5 On tap at Gordon Biersch @ DTW Pours clear dark golden with a medium sized, some lacing. Aroma is fruity, citrus and herbal. Flavor is fruity, caramel and pine resin
3.6 Pint at the Winking Lizard Cleveland Slightly hazy deep golden with a decent sized bubbly white head. Old school bready caramel maltiness with plenty of citrus and pine and maybe just a hint of tropical. Nice beer.
3.6 Unusual IIPA. Orange pour with thin white head. Has a strong banana taste taste on the tongue, and a bitter finish. Not bad.
3.8 Pours a shiny orange amber from bottle. Grapefruit, floral, some pineapple and resin. Malt too Very good.
3.5 It pours dark gold with an off white head. It has aromas of pine and some biscuit. It has flavors of pine, hints of citrus, and biscuit. It has a moderate body and is sharply bitter. The bitter finish is long lasting.
2.9 Meh...Description begs for something more bitter and hoppy but is more on the malty sweet side. Wasn’t impressed with this offering. You can taste the alcohol also. Would not buy again.
2.8 Reddish, golden pour with moderately dense white head. Rich (malty) and piney nose. Moderately bitter with biscuit at the outset and malt at the end. Malty, slippery mouthfeel with moderate fizziness. The finish has some bitterness, but tends toward the malty. The description led me to expect something much stronger in flavor with more prominent bitterness.
4.6 Absolutely outstanding brew ...$11 drafts, so it better be.. Im not even a big grapefruit fan, But this beer is delicious...Very hard to find yet the brewery is an hr north of me...wish they sold this locally. ..after 3 16oz drafts I definatly had the "yup..im buzzed" Grin..
3.7 Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is fruity malt. Sticky sweet mouthfeel. Flavor is sweet tropical fruit up front with mango. Sweet malty base. Finish is citrus.
3.7 355 ml bottle. Pours an orange colour with a small head. Aroma is hops, floral. Taste is similar, some bubblegum, pine. Pretty good.
3.7 Clear orange body white head some lacing. Sweet hoppy fruity bubblegum resin aroma. Taste it rich only slightly bitter but really nice and flavourful. Really unique and nice double IPA.
3.5 Strong, but not overpowering. Pine and resin, grapefruit and hops. There is some floral note, plus a light bitterness, but the finish is long and rolling. Pretty good.
3.9 On tap @ 3 Cellars, Franklin, Wisconsin. High alcohol content is undetected. Pineapple, koogin, and a bit of pine. Some grapefruit in the backdrop. A lovely pour. Very nice!
4.0 bottle. hazy orange. sweet overripe peach aroma. flavor has notes of stonefruits and pineapple with some residual honey, grainy, malt sweetness. somewhat low bitterness with deeper hop flavor. doesn’t strike me as 9.1%. an enjoyable beer thats different from the typical dry west coast version.
4.1 Poured from a 12oz bottle with a enjoy by date of 10/4/15 Poured into a tulip glass. Nice golden orangish color. Very enjoyable beer with a great lingering taste.
2.8 Not good. Not enough hops. Too much alcohol and fruit. Just doesnt work for me........
3.6 pours an orange amber with a thin white head that vanishes quickly. Aroma is slightly dank. Notes of apricot and tropical fruits. Taste is a little sweet. Apricot, mango, pineapple and a little peppery spice. Medium/full bodied with a oily/sticky texture. lasting bitterness in the finish. Perhaps a little sweet but a nice Imperial IPA. The tropical flavors are a highlight in this beer.
3.7 Sampled from bottle...tons of hops...really nice balance...alcohol is present....very tasty double ipa..i would drink again.
3.5 On tap @ Silver Creek. Pours a clear gold with an orange tinge, moderate white foamy head. Skucbt citrus aroma. Flavor has pronounced mellow orange first impact, balancing out with a nice malt framework and slightly dry finish. Palate has some nice body. Overall a very good DIPA though not as complex as some.
4.2 Poured from the 4-pack of bottles, looks orange with brown highlights. Hops, tropical hops, citrus hops, creamy, with sticky resin on the back end. Nice and strong, more character appears with every drink, a sample would not do this beer justice should drink multiple beers to appreciate.
