Green Flash Citra Session IPA

Green Flash Citra Session IPA

Our Citra Session™ IPA is brewed with high-quality Marris Otter and Vienna malt but the flavor is dominated by the Citra hops introduced throughout the boil and again in the dry hop for maximum aroma intensity. Notes of lemon, orange and grapefruit make this hop-laden brew a perfectly potable summer session IPA.

3.4 Cereal, soda bread, and crackers sustain gentle hop notes of lime, grapefruit, just a bit of tropical fruits, and light grass. The mouthfeel is easy, with plentiful but gentle carbonation and little viscosity. The taste is a tame bitter, with bready malt flavors being almost as preeminent as citrusy hoppy ones.
4.0 BBD 1/20/16. Pours a clear gold with a touch of amber. Outstanding head volume, world class lacing and retention. Outstanding nose of grapefruit with strong notes of orange over a light biscuit. Heavy light body with a semi-smooth texture. Perfect carbonation with a burst of effervescence in the middle a rollicking finely bubbled prickly finish. For a session IPA, this outstanding flavor profile packs a lot of intensity. Reasonably complex with a balance that slightly misses balancing the hops with biscuit sweetness. It begins with hop flavor that is rind dominated with grapefruit and orange notes. The middle brings a mild bitterness that is rind based. The finish is a slow fade of rind bitterness.
3.6 [Bottle (12oz)] Pours a slightly hazy gold with an average size lasting fluffy white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma of hempy and citrusy hops, a bit herbal as well, along with some bready malt and grain in the back. Flavour follows, but is a touch watery and has a decent bitter finish. Average bodied. Pretty good beer.
3.9 Bottle. Golden orange pour with white lacing. Full citrus, orange and some light herbal hop notes. Orange, citrus, light sweet Flavors, finishes easy.
3.7 Aroma is west coast hops, pine, floral, tropical fruit malt. Appearance is darker than I’d like, golden amber with a white head. Taste is very full, lots of pine, minimal tropical sweetness and light floral characters. Mouthfeel is medium body, crisp carbonation. Overall, this is a pretty good representation of the style.
3.8 bottle courtesy of mister minderbinder, many thanks bro! clear bright gold with a small reviving white cap, some retention and lacing. sulfuric citrus, pale lean spicy maltiness, white grapes - white wine, nelson-esques, faint catpee, some apricot fruitiness, clean. moderate carbonation, light body - almost oily; balanced grassy-spicy-grapefruity finish. nothing explosive, but a perty nice citra session offering.
3.5 12 oz bottle served in a snifter. BB date stamp: 13 Jan. 2016. 65 IBU. 4.5% ABV. Sparkling clear golden-honey colored body topped by a weak head that does manages to leave a very durable but thin island of foam on top for a good while, and to leave some spotty lacing. Strong Citra hop aroma - no watered down IPA here. Flavor: Mild for a West Coast IPA, but admirably flavorful for a 4.5% ABV ale. Very low bitterness for style, especially before the finish.
3.9 Draft pour pint at Frankies pizza. Pours a light golden color with a big bubble head and lace. Solid session here. Easy drinking, heavy hop character, citrus fruit, and a cool, low bitter finish. Very tasty.
3.9 Appearance was clear orangish gold with diminishing creamy white and finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are tropical and soft citrus fruits abound with a touch of pale malt sweetness. Taste are pineapple, orange, grapefruit upfront with slight malt sweet mid sip, finishing with soft cedar, pine finish. Palate is smooth creamy CO2 with light body, lasting balanced fruity slightly drying finish. Overall a solid west coast session IPA, highlighting g the Citra hops.
3.3 Clear yellow, big lasting white lacing foam head. Hoppy aroma and taste, just a decent beer. (Chicago 201510)
3.8 Beautiful session ale. Nice yellowish body with thick white head. Nose is all citra hops lots of nice tropical notes. Flavour is light and refreshing. Tropical fruit and citrus.
3.9 12 oz bottle purchased at Tipsy’s in Mission, Kansas. The pour is a clear golden orange with a 1/2 inch white head. The aroma is fresh citrus fruit, orange tangerine, resin and some grass towards the back. The taste is the fresh bright orange tangerine resin hop character, simple clean flavor. There is also a nice cracker malt backbone which ties the beer together nicely. The palate is light bodied with bright carbonation and the dry citrus finish, which softly bitter and mineral. Super drinkable, right up my alley.
3.0 Bottle pours clear golden with thin white head. Aroma of grapefruit and floral. Taste of the same with a hint of bread and carmel. Has a bitter lingering finish.
3.5 How: Bottle (12 oz) at home. Courtesy of Minderbinder, thanks! >>> A nicely hoppy citra forward beer that is drinkable, but not as sessionable as the name or the abv suggest. - Clear golden-orange with a medium off-white head, good retention and little lacing. - Aroma is nicely hoppy and there’s no doubt that Citra hops were used here. - There’s an interesting grassy presence throughout aroma and taste that persist a while in the aftertaste as well. - Bitterness is moderate and bring a resinous presence. - Body is medium, carbonation is moderate and finish is rather dry. - Easy drinking, but not exactly "sessionnable" and certainly feels a bit heavier than 4.5% abv. Flavors: Citrus, tropical fruits, grass, resin, mild malt spiciness, light caramel.
3.9 Bottle thanks to Cory. Clear bright gold pour with thin creamy white head, come lacing. Aroma is really good, lots of potent citra notes, wet juicy hop aromas, grassy with just a touch of honey. Taste is juicy, nice tropical lemonade notes, with a potent bitter grassy finish, just a touch of honey to smooth things out. Palate is light bodied, dry, just a touch watery with good carbonation. Super easy drinking, delicious.
3.5 2015 bottle. A mostly clear golden color with finger of white head. Smells of dank weed, citrus, tropical, onion, grass. Taste is a dank citrus hop, smidgen of cracker like malt in the finish. Citra done well, easy and sessionable.
3.8 Nice aroma. White frothy head. Great initial flavor but finishes a little dry. nevertheless pretty good for a low gravity beer.
3.6 Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a foamy white head. Aroma of pungent citrus and floral hops. Taste is mildly sweet with a pronounced hop bitterness up front that yields to more of a floral lingering bitterness.
3.6 On tap at Food Wine & Co. Nice copper body with medium head. Nose is hoppy, citra of course. Taste is hops, floral, grapefruit. Some malt. Well carbonated.

3.6 Bottle at GBBF ’15, day 1, 11/08/15. Clear golden blonde with a decent off white covering. Nose is citric pith, melon, straw, lemon rind, pissy waves, grapefruit, pine. Taste comprises orange pith, citric tinged straw, melon, grapefruit, light pine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a hop bite. Decent SIPA.
4.0 Bottle dated best by 2/3/16 into a tulip. A: Mostly clear tawny gold with a tight 1 finger head. Few rising bubbles seen. Good retention without much lacing. S: Sharp grapefruit zest and pith aroma. Maybe a whiff of caramel. T: An initial hit of sweetness greets the tongue immediately before sharp, biting bitterness. Great malt flavor here which seems to be a rarity in the style.More pith and pine than citrus in flavor. Points for distinction. M: Very light body but resinous and sticky on the mouth. Good carb tingle. O: Overall I think this may be rated so highly for distinction rather than actual deliciousness. Even so, I agree that it earns points for standing out among its peers. Tastes quite good but the malt makes it a powerhouse as the citra is the lone hop. Citra is well showcased. On a side note, I’ve seen others comment and I agree that the GF labels need work. Looks more like some automotive product (octane booster?) however I digress. Very good SIPA, the shit is expensive though.
3.7 A mostly clear golden color with finger of white head. Smells of dank weed, citrus, tropical, onion, grass. Taste is a dank citrus hop, smidgen of cracker like malt in the finish. Citra done well, easy and sessionable.
3.7 Bottle. Pours a golden orange colour with a medium white head. Aroma is citrus. Taste is citrus, bread, some caramel. Nice beer.
4.0 Bomber. Clear deep orange-copper color with a lasting one-finger white head. The aroma hits your nose like one big bad motherf***er. Citra hops in your face, fool. Lemon, orange, and grapefruit notes described on the label nail it spot-on. Malt character is slightly noticeable, a hint of maris otter, caramel and nuts, then a bitter hop blast. Lighter body, high drinkability, and lively carbonation. Legit AF.
3.9 Thanks to Minderbinder for bringing this back! Best by Feb 27, 2016 so who knows how old... Pours a clear golden with a small white head that leaves intense lacing. Nose is of dank hops, tropical fruits and cereals. Mostly dank, grassy hops, though. Taste is lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Some sweet cereals in the taste with dank hops again. Body is light to medium and carbonation moderately high. Overall a really enjoyable session IPA, I’ll be back!
