Green Flash Extra Pale Ale

Green Flash Extra Pale Ale

This English-style Summer Ale has a bright golden color as the name indicates. Cascade hops impart a floral aroma that is accented by citrus notes lent from Chinook hops. The hop flavors mingle with with premium pale malted barley to create a flavorful ale that is crisp and refreshing.

3.2 Tap at Mellow Mushroom, Greensboro. Pours clear amber with a small white shortlived head. Aroma is malty a bit sweet fruity hoppy and spicy. Flavor is malty herbal spicy dill cumn bitter and slghtly sweet with tines of resiny pine. Finshes bitter spicy.
3.0 As Retro Extra Pale Ale. Tap. Not really what I’ve come to expect from GF - guess it shows how the hop has seduced them. Soft, malty, easy drinking Pale. Straddling the English/American divide. Soft finish.
2.3 On tap at Resurection. I think retiring this guy was a good move, I dont know how it tasted back in the day but it was kind of rough this week in Philly. Notes of metalic funk, cherry booze, very malty, bitter.
2.6 Draft at resurrection with Vinny. Pours a slightly hazy orange Anne body with thin white lacing. Aroma is fresh hop. Mouthfeel is bitter, stale, sweet malty, and somewhat offensive.
3.1 Poured from the bottle to a golden hue with a thick white head. The aroma is a hoppy floral and fruit. The beer is medium-bodied and slightly tingly, and the flavor is just like the aroma.
3.3 bottle. nothing to get too excited about. It’s golden, it’s pale. it’s and english style.....which doesn’t excite me much. prefer american style pales. not enough hop flavor for me.
2.9 Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Off flowery aroma with some toffee like malty notes. Similar flavor with an strange grainy notes. Not bad, but not that good either, especially when sampled after the 30th St. Pale Ale, which was awesome.
3.0 Very smooth and bitter, lots of hops. Quite refreshing, not as astringent as many hoppier west coast pales. On tap at the Brewery.
4.1 Green Flash Brewing Company--Extra Pale Ale--2006 12 oz. Bottle. 4.90% ABV--19 IBU’s. (4.1 / 5.0) Pale Ale--Beer of the Month Club Selection December, 2006. Lacy head. BC cloudy hint rich bright gold color. Floral hop front. Mildly creamy zesty butter caramel grapefruit mild yeast ester body. Tangy balanced crisp tasty mild hop end. More than 4.9%-19. IBU’s. Sampled 3/20/2007.
3.7 Poured from the bottle to a bright golden yellow with a thick white head that exploded from the bottle. Once this finally settled down, it left good lacing on the glass throughout the drink. Nose is hoppy floral, apples and a hint of banana. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and slightly tingly, and the flavor likens the hoppy floral and fruit sensations in the nose. Not bad for a beer with a comic book name.....too bad it’s retired.
2.9 12oz bottle into a pint glass. I think I must have gotten an old bottle... borderline skunky. Besides that the flavor profile is typical for the style and not bad.
3.6 Well, I love the WC IPA, the barleywine and the tripel so I figured it was time to give this a go. The color is yellow and hazy with a sticky white head. The aromas are faintly metallic with a slight hint of crisp, grassy hops lurking in the background. The flavor is weird, so subtle I almost can’t pick anything out except a slight bitter finish and a tea-like flavor, but wait, lemons!. The mouthfeel is watery but for some reason not in a bad way. I could drink several of these at a time so it would be a good session beer if the flavor was stronger. Although I found this to be slightly above average, the nut brown is next. 3.1 12oz bottle from somewhat out west....pours a clear light yellow brown with a small soapy white head....aroma of light grassy hops and very little of anything else.... flavors of sweet malt and light grassy hops. a touch of bitterness in the finish. not all that complex. medium carbonation. not too impressive.
3.1 Picked one up in a mix a 6 rack. Light golden color with white head. Light malt taste. Left a nice lace on the glass. That’s all.
3.7 A- Pours a cloudy dark straw hue, head is 1finger of white froth and tight tiny bubbles, fair lacing S- Nose is mostly pale malts, crisp and clean, some bread and light toast, hints of pine and citrus hops, grass and earth T- Very well-balanced, the pale and bread malts come through initially, followed by light hops, and a dry bitter finish M- Light-bodied, watery to oily texture, excitable carbonation D- Great session beer and a great pale ale, the crisp freshness is reminiscent of a lager, but the malts and hops add significant flavor and complexity, check this out for a smooth and refreshing ale
3.4 yellowish brown with mild head. flavor without much malt component. the hop aspect is mostly dominated with bitterness and some flavor. overall not an extrememly flavorful brew and the hop choice doesn’t really suit the english style
2.3 Sampled at Bevmo. Pours very clear and light straw-colored. Decent pillowy white head. Minor aroma of American hops. Taste is pretty boring. Easy to drink, but extremely boring. I can see why this is getting discontinued.
2.7 Throw back type beer. Reminds me of the beers my dad drank in the taverns in and around Philly. Nice easy drinking beer.
3.0 Bottle from oak tree. Pours an orange yellow body with a white quickly diminishing head. Burnt malt in the aroma and some hop stuborness. Very malty with a hint of light citrus. Simple beer.
3.8 On Cask at Stone Brewing Co. World Bistro and Gardens. Aroma is hops and pine. Pours pale yellow/orange with nice rocky head, pretty clear for cask. Flavor begins sweet and mellow with a hint of grapefruit. Finishes with a great hoppiness, with an emphasis on pine and again subtle grapefruit. Medium body with great lacing down the glass (cask adds to the nice body). Really enjoyable on cask, very drinkable. But, I’m not sure I would have enjoyed it as much on tap or bottled.
3.0 Bottled. A golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of peaches as well as other fruits, and hints of hops. The flavor is sweetmalty with strong notes of peaches and hints of hops. Thanks Alex (fiulijn) for sharing.
3.7 (bottle) amber orange with small white head. Abundant pine hops aroma. Flavor is strong pine hops with decent malt for balance.
2.9 Not too pale in color, but body is very thin and watery. Has a significant amount of hops for the style, but has this almost soda-water like thinness and taste that really bothered me.
3.5 Cracking Pale Ale. Maintains most English Pale characteristics but with more PNW hops.
3.6 12 oz. bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Hazy orange pour with a medium head. Aroma of earthy hops. Citrus and earthy hop flavor. Full bodied. Very refreshing and pleasant.
3.3 Sample @ the brewery. Pours a clear amber/orange with a small and quickly-dissipating white head. Aroma is grassy notes with slight floral and citrus hop notes detectable. Taste is the same, with nic fruity notes thrown in with the bitter hops that finish a nice pale ale experience.
3.2 Pours a golden orange color with a small fizzy white head that disappears quickly. The aroma is grass clippings with some fruit and a bit of citrus. Flavor has a nice bitterness with some peach, flowers, citrus, and tea. There is a nice sweetness to balance out the bitter. Leaves a bittersweet hop aftertaste.
2.3 this was a very dry beer. It’s aroa was a little sour and its flavor very bitter. Had a long aftertaste and a low abv. I won’t be looking for this one again
3.2 Bottle from Ledger’s in Berkeley, CA. One of the better pale ales I’ve had. Poured a golden color with a white head. Nice balance of citus hops with just a little bit of malt. Not bad.
3.3 I’m not huge on Pale Ales, and this one is no exception. I will say it’s the best I’ve had. It kept a consistent palate the whole way, and the bitterness was rather controlled. Cheers to Green Flash.
