"San Diego-style IPA, as it has come to be known by many, is a super-hoppy, high gravity, yet highly quaffable ale. Green Flash Imperial IPA is created in this new tradition, with intense hop flavors and aromas from a unique blend of Summit and Nugget hops. It’s all about the hops!" -- Brewmaster Chuck Silva

3.6 Leuchtend gold, leicht trüb, wenig weisser schaum, leicht fruchtig in der nase, schlanker körper, gute bittere, schön trinkbar
3.8 Brilliant white rocky head stayed well on a dark gold coloured, lightly effervescent body. Malt & sweet citrus aroma. Thick & almost chewy on the palate. Prickly with a sharp clean aft. Malty to the fore with a pine, citrus & a very hoppy flow over the tongue. On the back there’s a long bitter finish. Very nice indeed
3.8 It pours golden with a moderate slightly off white head. It does leave a quite a bit of lacing behind. The initial aroma is stone fruit with a caramel background to it. The stone fruit is most favorable towards peach. Present are also citrus and a bit of floral. The flavor has a strong hop bitterness highlighted by peach and floral elements. There is also a caramel backbone to it as well. It has a moderate feel to it with moderately high hop bitterness that lingers well into the finish. Overall, this is a quality imperial IPA that is not over done with the bitterness, but does provide a good bitter bite to it.
3.7 Bottle a dark golden yellow colored beer with a white head aroma malts citrus pineapple spicy and bitter hops flavor malts citrus pineapple grapefruits fruits white fruits earthly notes and bitter hops
3.5 Draft at GF Mira Mesa. Pours almost clear amber with a fizzy off white head. Tastes like hop resin, lemon, cracker malt, and spicy and grapefruit hops. Let that/medium body and carbonation. Smells like hop resin, lemon, cracker malt, and spicy and grapefruit hops.
4.0 From a 650ml bottle on 30/1/2017. Pours an opaque medium golden with a small head head. The nose is very cirussy, with lots of grapefruit in particular. Flavour wise, it’s sweet and fruity up front - peach, apricot and mandarin, with a touch of honey and bready malt in the background. The hops are big, grapefruity and peppery. The palate is a touch syrupy and the carbonation is soft. A big, bold, in your face, and very enjoyable DIPA.
4.1 Pours a lovely peach with a wispy ivory head, spotty lace. Aroma is citrus, peach, notes of mint and ginger. Spicy pop on the tongue, bready, citrusy malts, more ginger, grapefruit, pepper. A tad boozy for 9% but outstanding flavors all around.
3.8 Aroma: Medium aroma of malts, caramel, honey, fruit, hops, citrus and grapefruit. Appearance: Turbid golden/amber beer with a medium white/off-white head. Taste/Palate: Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, honey and fruit; ends slightly/medium bitter and dry with hops, citrus and grapefruit. Overall: This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. Great amount of hops, but misses some distinct fruit flavours. Great appearance with a steady head, but the aroma could have been stronger thanks to this.
3.9 Bottle from Safeway in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is tropical fruits, grapefruit, maybe some honey. Taste is tropical marmalade, grapefruit peels. Up front the taste is really great but the combination of bitter peels and booze started to wear on me at the end.
3.5 Backlog. Draft. Golden brown color with medium to larger head. Smell and flavor are heavy and resinous pine, grapefruit, overripe pineapple, toast, and grain. Lots of bitterness from the 100 IBU’s. A little aggressive and boozy but has a lot of hop flavor. Used to like this one but would never order it these days with all the lower alcohol and cleaner juices.
3.5 1pt 6fl oz bottle at home from FirmaBier, 6 weeks after expire date. Nose is citrus, grass, weed. Body is clear pale, head is small, offwhite, frothy, average lasting, good lacing. Aroma is malty, grapefruit, honey, tropical fruits, leather. Medium sweet, light bitter, light citric sour. Finish is long lasting hoppy medium bitter, hint of salt. Medium body, dry texture, average carbonation. Quite easy, strong flavor, good balance but weird taste, should drink a fresh one next time, not bad though.
4.2 Large bottle @ Flinders Lane. Bisquit and fresh grass on the nose. Fresh hoppy mouth with loads of flavor. Bit soapy at the end but still everything is really well put.
3.8 Lightly hazy yellow orange pour with a fluffy white head and great lacing. Aroma is earthy, herbal, pine, mango, and toffee. Taste starts earthy then goes into citrus and tropical fruit with a piney finish. Some caramel sweetness to balance it out. Lingering piney aftertaste. Medium body.
4.1 Bomber to a pint. Hazy copper orange with thin white head. Pungent pine and citrus notes... Balanced, quaff able, dry bitter finish... Outstanding DIPA!
4.0 Pours hazy orange with a medium frothy white head. Aromas of grass, hay, peach and apricot jam, pine, caramel. Taste is very fruity and somewhat floral with a nice hoppy bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation.
5.0 Possibly my favourite dipa. So amazing in every sense. So bitter in the tongue. Lovely.
3.9 Tap@Akkurat. Grumlig gul vätska. Väldigt bra doft med massor av humle. Gillar tobak och den lätta anisaromen. Massiv humle och en stor maltkropp. Helhetsintrycket dras ner då avslutningen framhäver alkoholsmak, annars hade det blivit 4+.
4.0 Bomber. Pours a clear pale golden with a resilient white head. Aroma is grapefruit, lemon, pine, cedar and resin. Flavor is fruits, bubble gum, pine tree, grapefruit, lime and lemon. Finish is nice bitter punch, mostly fruity. Lingering residual sugars, as well as cedar and pine. Medium to full body, average carbonation. Great!
4.0 On tap at IBU in Beaverton. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Fruity mango aroma. Taste is intensely hoppy, bitter, fruity. Medium oily mouthfeel.
Gott.
3.1 Bottle at home. Pours a clear amber gold with a medium active head, mostly made up of larger bubbles. Aroma is citrus, grass, slight strange chemical ’poppers’ scent. Taste is orange pith, citrus, slight funk, grassy, very slight stilton, slight chemical ’poppers’ taste, dry finish. I think this one has suffered badly from age, unfortunately.
4.0 9%ABV. Imperial IPA. Poured out gold amber. 8°SRM. Nose had sweet ripe pineapple and sweet malt funk, with hard candy, taffy and light brown sugar. There are also pleasant deeply spicy aromas suggesting cilantro or scallions. Also nice pine and resin in the nose. Mouthfeel is deeply soapy. Palate has toasted malt flavors with Graham cracker, wheat toast with honey, with a richly spicy palate suggesting fennel, coriander, cilantro and with a strangely sweet umami suggesting yakitori. The palate is amazingly sweet on this one and at one point, I got an almost berry like sweetness/ Finish is long with deep rich bitter melon bitter laced with some mint, spice, and hyssop. Overall, a very very hoppy ride with a solid solid malt foundation. Kudos, Green Flash! Goes on Favorites List !
4.1 On tap at St. Augustine’s. Straw hazy color, white head. Aroms and taste are candied tropical fruits with resin notes. Same aftertaste. Perfrctly balanced beer. Excellent.
3.8 Poured from a 20 oz bottle a crystal clear orange. Beautiful to look at. The head is thin and white, quickly dissipating and leaving no lacing at all. Aromas are of grapefruit and mild pine. Medium bitter with a lingering bitter finish. I expected it to be more sticky based on the resin in the aroma. Very refreshing and easy to drink, but the alcohol content creeps up quickly, so I’m enjoying it by sipping slowly.
4.4 Pours a pretty blaze orange color. Aromas of grapefruit, citrus, and small amount of pine comes through. Hop flavors of grapefruit and citrus burst on the palate. Not much malt balance, which is great for hopheads. Love this intense hop forward brew!!!!
4.0 Pours a deep dark orangish amber color. Aromas of big hop action, sweet malts, and more hops. Flavor has some bready maltsy tastes with nice grapefruit and floral hop taste. This is one hoppy sumbitch. These guys sure know what they are doing.
