3.1 On draft at Ulysses. Pour was orangey red, decent head. Aroma of caramel and grapefruits. Flavor followed, a bit heavy on the caramel malts, overwhelmed the rye spiciness and even the hop bitterness to some extent. Some pine and resinous elements in the flavor that I didn’t pick up in the aroma. Mouthfeel on par for the style, carbonation a tad light. Just needed to be more lively, malts killed what had great potential.
3.8 From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Expiration date of 26 Nov 15. Attractive amber pour with a long lasting off-white head. Good clarity Aroma brings out a roasted malt character with floral and pine hops to enhance it. Body is medium. An odd sort of astringent character in the flavor along with the caramel malt sweetness and lingering hop bitterness at the end. e taste feels a tad astringent but I get a decent malt character and a forward floral hop character that lingers briefly. Tastes like mulch at the end.
4.3 Green Flash has something special going with many of their beers. Road Warrior is a great rye IPA. It’s a little heavier tasting than your typical IIPA... but very drinkable. A great beer from start to finish. A very enjoyable well crafted brew.
4.0 Rating #1239 - 02.09.2014 - On tap @revolutionyeg. Clear golden pour with a bubbly white foam, spotty lacing. Citrusy sweet, Mosaic hop fruitiness on the nose.. Mouthfeel crisp, mild alcohol warmth, low-medium carbonation. Taste is sweet orangey notes, a distinctive rye bite, Mosaic predominant.
3.8 Botella, @3º Cata Ratebeer Asturias.. 26/10/2015. BBD:20/10/15 Color ámbar, aroma frutal, resinoso, sabor frutal, cuerpo alto.
3.8 12fl.oz. bottle. Pours a hazy copper with a medium, frothy, long lasting, beige head that laces. Hoppy, grapefruit aroma with caramel malt and grass. Sweet fruity flavour with grapefruit, caramel malt, grass, pine and resin with a hint of rye in a dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Well brewed and delicious.
3.7 Bottle. Dark copper color. Aroma of bitter pine, rye malt and caramel. Taste has caramelly pine, dry grassy bitters and malt. Hoppy bitter finish. Good stuff.
3.8 Pour is a dark amber with a thick tan head. Aroma is a pine groove in winter. Taste is bittersweet with a strong hop note. Finish is warm and complex. Very good ale.
3.6 Bottle at home. Red pour almost no head. Nose is piney, some earth, and dark fruits. Tastes of cherry, pine, caramel, earth, some rye without over doing it, malty, some grapefruit rind. Big chewy palate. Not too sweet or bitter. Red fruits on finish.
3.2 Draft at falling rock. Dark amber color, white head. Mild malt aroma. Hop forward taste with a malt and rye finish. Tasted a little stale, maybe a bad or old keg?
3.3 Refrigerated brown 12 oz. bottle, best before November 12, 2015, poured into a glass. Dark Crimson with small beige head. Aroma is rye, medium body, medium carbonation, and some small-bubble lacing. Taste is rye, grassy hops, pine hops, dank, and bitter finish. Pretty heavy and not my kind of IIPA.
4.2 Resinous and citrusy aromas. Hazy bronze with a fairly lasting white head. Dry malt profile with a lot of hop bitterness, somewhat spicy. Medium bodied.
3.3 Undated bottle (which has a "Best Before" box on the label and yet no date there....) drunk 9/6/15. Deep amber-orange with cherry-auburn tints and a light beige head that is full and fluffy, slowly receding to cover. High clarity, fairly well-filtered, their beers seem to be nowadays and certainly not bottle conditioned (if they ever were?). Nonetheless, it’s got a deep, lush hop nose, with some slightly aggressive resin and a pinch of alcohol. Tons of fruitiness and almost a wintergreen-like note, with vanilla, cherry and light toffee emanating from the malts and providing a pretty good balance. I think the mosaic and amarillo really go along way for it not being overdone and while the Colombus still impart some pine and grapefruit, it’s pleasant enough, if a bit challenging. The flavor is sweet, well-malted with cherry, vanilla, rye spiciness and again, full, lush, juicy citrus and pine, with some pineapple and a light woodiness that gives a little more subtle, enjoyable, unique flavor to the finish. Green Flash makes well-executed beers and even if a 9% rye DIPA is not in my wheelhouse, I can still respect it (and I did finish the whole beer fairly easily).
3.7 On tap at ChurchKey. Nice red body with medium head. Nose is skunky, toasty of cheese. Taste is sweet, bitter with roasty and toasty malts. Nice kick.
3.3 How: Bottle. Where: The Bishops Arms Savoy, Malmö. Appearance: Amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma: Caramel, malt, bread, grass. Body: Medium body and carbonation. Flavour: Bread, malt, alcohol, grass, caramel.
3.8 Bottle split at GBBF ’15, day 1, 11/08/15. Amber golden with a decent beige covering. Nose is caramel malt, pine, earthy hops, grapefruit, citric pith. Taste comprises pine needle, caramel malt, mango, grapefruit, juicy hops. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi aggressive hop bitterness in the close. Solid DIPA.
3.4 Bottle share at GBBF, 9%. Thanks! Dark hazy orange, some suspended particles, small foamy tan head. Aroma is sweet with raisins, teacake and toffee. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is sweet, resinous hops, raisins, caramel, soft peppery bitterness to finish. Not bad.
3.7 12 oz bottle from Kroger a 4/pk The ale poured a deep dark hazy amber with beige head and lacing. The aroma of grapefruit rind and pine resin greet you. the taste has some spicy notes from the rye malts. The grapefruit stays with you in the back of your mouth. This is full bodied ale with average carbonation and nice warming on the tongue. The sip pulls you into a bitter finish leaving citrus and piney hops in the wake and a little warmth in the throat.
3.6 Bottle BBE: unknown. Well-chilled. Pours an opaque, deep reddish-brown body with medium, tight, yellow-tan head. High-intensity aromas, lots of cheese & onion crisps (skunky hops), ginger, herbal and brown bread. Light-medium sweetness and a medium bitterness with a hint of smoky, roasted character. Full-bodied with a thick texture, medium-low carbonation and a spicy, gingery finish. Overall this would surely have made the top ten if it was in better condition. Heavy notes of ginger and herbs coming through despite the off-flavours from the hops.
3.6 Bottle shared at GBBF 2015, day 1 - London. Cheers! Pours clear orange-copper with a frothy off-white head. Dank hop aroma, some ripe citrus, caramel, bread, pine. Medium sweet flavor, moderately boozy, with notes of ripe orange and oily, gooey pine. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, warming and resinous, with rich bread and more orange. Good stuff overall, if fairly punchy.
3.8 Clear Amber with a thin ring of white foam around the edge. Very rye spicy nose with a toasted malt and amberish background and a bit of earthy hop resin. Smooth and toast malty caramel undertones, lots of rye, some bitterness, but mostly smooth semisweetnes. Really nice and nuanced.
4.7 Pours clear mahogany with a large beige head. Smells spicy and woody. Taste is bitter, woody, rye spicy. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Green Flash Road Warrior finishes with a lingering spicy bitterness.
3.6 I’ve been passing by this one at almost every bev shop, hesitatingly reaching for it, but never following through. I did this time. Old bottle, best-by is October of this year. Oh well, let’s give it a shot...Deep ruby pour into snifter with a super, at least two finger head. Aroma of toasted caramel malt, little peppery rye, with some really nice lemon-lime and pine dry-hop additions. Still going strong, I see. Flavor is a chewy caramel with the sharp rye alongside, meanwhile juicy floral notes modestly shine, just enough to make it lip-smacking. Medium carb, medium resin on the finish. For being an old bottle...not bad at all!
3.3 12 fl oz bottle. Pours lear and golden orange with a white head. Aroma is solid grapefruity. Toasted and solid grapefruity. Bitter, solid hoppy and grapefruity. Solid hoppy.
3.8 22 bomber to cervoise. Pours deep clear brown ruby red, frothy tan head. Aroma of rye toast, dried fruit, herbal spice and booze. Taste is deep. Malty sweet and roasty up front. Spice builds and builds. Finishes pine, grapefruit, earth and grass. Lots of malt backbone. Some boozy heat in the finish. Mouthfeel is semi-syrupy with good carb.
3.4 Cask gravity at GBBF 2015 day 1. Amber orange coloured pour with a halo of light cream head. Aroma is spicy piney hop, sticky caramel. Crysy malt on yje nose. Flavour is composed of chewy, pine and crystal malts, palate is medium sweet, moderate carbonation. Lingering spicy hop.
2.6 @ Bishops GA. Malmö 15-8-6: Ganska potent doft med tydlig alkohol. Smaken är fyllig men med alltför framträdande smak av korn.
3.6 Bottle at Bishops Arms Gustav Adolfs Torg, Malmö. Amber with a white head. Aroma and taste of hops, grapefruit, peach, light rye and some warming alcohol. Medium body and with a bitter finish.
3.6 This is a sold beer. Aroma was nice. Iced tea, rye and earth. Pour was a nice dark amber/medium brown with a thin off white film for a head. Taste was very big and full. Strong iced tea flavors with heavy hops and strong burnt malt flavors. I think my taste buds associate rye with iced tea because most rye beers have that flavor to me. Dry earthy finish. Nice carbonation round this beer out.
