As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest, and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.

3.9 Bottle from Premier Gourmet. Dark golden. Caramel, malty, citric, pine, grapefruits. Fairly bitter. Med bodied. Classic.
4.0 Light amber with a thick head and a hoppy nose. Malty and full-bodied with a hoppy finish.
4.2 Thursday, March 08, 2018 1:09 PM 12 ounce bottle poured to wine glass Sight: amber, hazy, medium head, some lacing Aroma: Very Fragrant- hoppy Taste: Very good Bitter Mouthfeel: low medium carbonation, medium follow through, some drop then long bitter taste, really good Overall very good beer, ok to repeat but not look for
3.9 Amber IPA with citrus and pine aroma. Very bitter, but not insanely so like the old version. Not a strong malt taste which makes it a bit crisp. A very solid, drinkable IPA.
3.8 Copper-golden in color with sudsy white head. Piney, citrus aroma. Bitter citrus peel and pine hop character. Notes: on tap at Brooklyn Bowl, Las Vegas during the Mighty Mighty Bosstones concert '14
3.8 A pine and grapefruit aroma. A golden amber body. The head fades quickly. A heavy malt bitterness. Heavy bodied.
4.1 Draft. It poured a dark gold color with white head and lacing. This IPa has a little of everything. The aroma is happy with floral notes along with Grapefruit, pine, and tropical fruits. The taste is moderately bitter with a little resin note as well. Overall a very good imperial IPA.
3.7 Un petit coup de cœur
3.3 bitter , piney, grapefruit, lemon. oily. didn't really stand out to me but perhaps because there are so many imitators. definitely one to revisit.
4.6 Bottle into snifter. Strong aroma of grassy hops. Generous lacing. One finger head. Certainly get the Columbus and Simcoe off the bat. Strong but not overpowering. Smooth finish. Great brew that I can’t believe I’ve missed out on.
3.8 On tap at Annie's guesthouse, Chiang Mai. Thick creamy white head. Very hazy light amber pour. Lovely bitterness. Great 😀
3.4 It’s a decent IPA with a slightly piney taste with some floral notes. This IPA is good but is pretty much average.
3.3 Bottle Clev. Park Wine and Spirits, 6-22-17 Why did they change this beer?
4.2 Bottle in San Diego. Pours amber, lacy head. Pine and orange aroma. Taste is crushingly dry, huge hops, some malt in the back. It's just a stunningly good example of how a high West coast ipa should be. Salutes.
3.0 Bomber pours a reasonably clear amber with a two finger off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is sweet malt. Taste is really strong malt, high bitterness. Is very much a sipping brew.
2.6 Sample from bottle at GNBF. Poured medium amber with an off white head. Aroma of grapefruit rind, pine, cat piss. Taste was bitter, grapefruit rind, bitter finish.
3.7 12oz bottle 9/13/17 (Ralph's-CA)-44° in Snifter-Pours an orangish amber with a small off white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, and malt. Taste of the same. this medium bodied brew is well balanced and darn right tasty.
3.6 Citrus and grass on the nose. Strong steady hops throughout. A solid IPA.
3.3 Aug17: mørk gyllen hazy. Dufter granbar og malt. Smaker bitter granskog med undertoner av grapefrukt og en diskret maltsødme.
5.0 IPA très amère
3.5 Not a big fan of the bigger, beefier West Coast IPA. (Apparently it’s been six years since I last tried this beer.) Malt bill comes across syrupy and thick, layers of caramel and biscuit, sweet and heavy and much stronger than expected. Hops are as heavy as advertised, although the lack of complexity leads me to believe this bottle’s older than the Drink By date suggests. Not much citrus or dank, mostly hard core malt heft followed by clingy, palate-scouring IBUs. Not a bad thing--I dig the bitterness--but damned if I can find much of anything citric or tropical here. Just a big bitter malt bomb. Eh.
3.6 Nice classic style IPA. Big caramel balanced with big bright hops. Long bitter finish. Good stuff.
3.7 Clear yellow orange pour with a white head. Tons of sticky lacing. Aroma is resinous, grapefruit, and pine. Taste is resin, pine, and grapefruit rind. Bitter hoppiness. Light body.
4.5 Sample at Jack Browns. Dark Golden with thin head. Citrus aroma. Nice clean moderate bitterness. Grew on me even more as I drank it.
0.8 Terrible. The ending taste is so awful jake had to swish his mouth out. Never again.
4.0 On draft at Armadillo Willys in San Jose. Dark orange color. Citrus smell. Pleasant hoppy taste but not overpowering.
