3.1 Pours dark reddish-brown with a fast fading tan head. Finishes as a rim and coating. Aroma is malty and slightly sour with faint notes of chocolate. Mouthful is very active with a creamy aftertaste. Taste is mild chocolate malt and again some sourness. Classic English porter, but lacking a bit in depth and complexity of flavor.
3.4 Pours a deep brown to black with a khaki head. Aromas of malt and coffee. Taste the same with some semisweet chocolate. Nice beer.
3.6 On tap at the Shroom. Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Roasted malt, semi-sweet chocolate, nuts, coffee. Medium body. Roasted malt, coffee finish. Very good.
5.0 Deep, dark tan colour; thick body with a small beige head. A full-bodied, creamy porter with a rich, slightly oaty, dark chocolate taste with a bittersweet finish of toasted, roasted malts.
3.5 Bottle from Harris Teeter, Hampstead, North Carolina. Very dark with a thin head. Sweet and rich with its dark malts with a hint of roasted malt.
4.5 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a dark brown to black color with a small tan head. The aroma is roasted malt with some chocolate and a bit of coffee. The taste matches the nose. An outstanding porter.
3.7 Grabbed in a mix and match 6-pack in SC while visiting Myrtle Beach. They actually have Green Man here in FL now, but hadn’t gotten around to trying them yet. This porter was the one I really was curious about. This is a very good resemblance of the style. Super dark brown, near black appearance. Rich creamy texture. Sweet up front with some bitter chocolate and hops at the end. Decent balance, but leans slightly on the sweet side. Reminds me of one of my favorites, Anchor Porter. Will probably get an entire 6-pack one day in the future.
3.4 From tap. Pours dark brown to black. Small tan head. Light liqourice, roasted and dark malty. Lingering dark malty. Roasted. Medium dry. Lingering dark malty and slight liqourice finish.
3.4 This porter is to style with a toast and chocolate flavors. Minimal head from the tap. Moderately dry finish.
3.4 Draft - My palate is not very good but I seem to taste coconut on this Porter. Rich dark brown color with almost no head and very few bubbles. Light roasted flavor, tastes slight sweet as well. A very good representation of the Porter style staying true to the style.
3.7 Poured from bottle. Aroma of fresh malt and hops Dark with no head Tasting roasted malt, cocoa, anisette, marshmallow. Feel is a bit sticky.. Overall. not bad
3.5 Bottle at Palmetto Oyster House. Pretty classic porter with some molasses and coffee. Nice.
3.6 deep, dark brown to black color; dark, roasted malt aroma with chocloate notes; roasted malt flavor with coffee and chocolate notes; fairly bitter
3.8 From a 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a small light tan head that leaves a bit of sticky lacing. Roasty malts, unsweetened chocolate, coffee, caramel, and toast. Surprising bit of a bitter hop resin on the backend. Medium body, smooth texture, lively carbonation. Very flavorful porter here. Well balanced.
3.3 12 oz bottle. Pretty basic American porter. Subtitle Chocolate and roast. Low sweetness.
3.8 On tap at Mellow Mushroom in Asheville. Chocolate. Sweet caramel. Light roast. Hits all the standard porter notes, but chocolate-ier. Nice! 14.2
3.7 Quite thick in features and strong in percentage, VEry robust and enjoyable at special moments it is.
3.6 12oz bottle made on April 21st 2016 - nose is roasted coffee and chocolate. Sip adds caramel, grass, floral notes and toast. Decent balance but bitterrer than sweet. A solid porter.
4.0 Near black pour with short lived head. Aroma is roast malt. Taste leans toward coffee. Nice choice.
3.1 From a bottle this is a nice full bodied beer without any of the nasty typical ale effects. fer sure, this is smooth and easy. I find it to be better than expected.Yes, more friendly than most porters. Has manners, is easy going and is so unexpectedly nice. Certainly up there with Labatt Porter, Beaver Black & Tan, Saranac 4059 Porter and Beaver Maple Brown Porter but not as good as Indigo Imp Gatekeeper, East End Pink Clouds Porter, Yuengling Original Black and Tan or Bayhawk Chocolate Porter
3.3 A decent starter porter but not enough complexity or flavor for me. Aromas of light chocolate and light roast. Taste is faint chocolate, roastiness, and maybe a taste reminiscent of a flat Coke. Mouthfeel is thin and finish is clean. An ok porter that does not stand out.
3.5 Poured from a tap. Dark brown color, medium off white head. Mild sour milk and caramel aroma. Medium body with a sweet malt flavor and a medium finish.
3.5 12oz bottle thanks to darrel. pours out brown topped with a tan head. nose is standard porter light roast malts and a little hops note. Taste is more of the light roast and a nice malty end.
3.4 nice take on an English porter - caramel and chocolate, a little bready and ,ight to medium bodied. Dry finish.
3.1 Cask at Green Man. Roasty aroma. Fairly uninteresting taste. A little dry, a little roasty. Nothing wrong with it.
3.5 Cask pour at the source. The beer is a clear amber to brown with little to no head. The aroma has molasses and toffee with notes of some cooked apples and interestingly enough, granny smith apples. Fairly sweet. Medium body and no carbonation.
3.7 Pours dark brown / black color with tan head. Aromas roasted malt and chocolate. Slightly bitter roasted malt and sweet milk chocolate flavors with a hint of coffee. Medium body with moderate carbonation.
3.1 Vanilla and coffee aromas. Brown-black with a somewhat lasting tan head. Some sweetness, lightly roasty. Medium bodied.
3.3 Dry nutty malt aroma. Light tan head and dark brown almost black body. Flavors of earthy malts. Smooth on the palate.
3.5 Pours a medium brown color with tan colored head. Roasted malts, chocolate, biscuit, and some light coffee on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with cocoa and some roast. Decent beer.
