"Abbot Ale is the culmination of knowledge and skills that have developed over centuries of experience. Brewed longer to a unique recipe using pale, amber and crystal malts, making it a full flavoured, smooth and mature beer. This irresistible ale has masses of fruit characters, a malty richness and superb hop balance."

3.4 Amber pour, decent head. Nose is malty and nutty. The middle shows some caramel, medium kilned malt, light nuttiness, some dried fruit. Finish is medium bitterness and drier than the body. I liked it.
3.1 Lighter than I expected but still like it. Amber color and that carbonated as more of the beers
3.2 Non nitro can. Bright orangish amber with a coat of pale beige head. Aroma of stone and citrus fruit, spices. Less marmalade-like in the taste mainly because the bitterness is a bit higher than you'd guess from the aroma. Lacks a welcoming texture, but not bad at all.

2.7 Bottle, toasty, malty-sweet and faintly sulphurous nose. Sweetish and hoppy dry-bitter, caramel and dry leaves, a little two dimensional and metallic.
3.7 500ml bottle brewed in England at 5%. Clear light tawny amber, with a small, decent-duration head. Light strawberry hops and toffee-biscuit malt. Moderate carbonation. Faintly leafy strawberry hops, a biscuit malt with a little toffee, and a dry metallic finish, not unpleasant per se and helping to balance the maltiness. Shades of black grape in the aftertaste. Still, this is recognisably a budget bitter; although it works very well with what it's got, being somewhat rich and faintly creamy in texture, you just don't want to be in the position of having to choose between a puddingy-sweet ale or a suck-a-penny bitter finish in the first place. Greene King brews are best experienced on tap, but fans of 'old school' (as distinct from genuine heritage brews) English ales will find this enjoyable bottled (if probably not quite what it was back in the day). Drinkers of 'modern' style beer however, let alone 'craft'....well, a bottle to try is cheap enough, and it'll make a change that's for sure!
3.7 Bottle. Clear amber color with small white head. Caramelized malt, grain aroma and flavor with some sweetness. Medium to low carbonation.
3.2 Very tan head stayed on a reddish brown still body. Sweet & malt aroma. Medium bodied, tingly with a clean back. Sweet jam, berries, malt, caramel & lightly hopped tastes.
3.9 Lovely copper colour, rich toffee flavour and just the right amount of bitterness, definitely one to have again.
2.8 Bottle from Asda. Pours clear amber, small white head but minimal retention and no lacing. Roasted malts and stone fruit aroma. Taste is a disappointing watered down version of the aroma, more like tea with a bit of biscuit. Lightish body and moderate carbonation. Average.
3.5 Długo utrzymująca się piana, bursztynowa barwa. Gorzkie, wytrawne, w smaku wyczuwalne nuty rodzynkowe. Dobre piwo.
3.0 Clear copper appearance. Aroma is malt and toffee. Flavour is malt, bitter, metallic and toffee.
3.4 Pours a clear, amber coloration with a small, foamy head. Smells of bready, grainy, slightly caramelly malt and hints of floral, bitter hops. Taste follows the nose, with a decent balance of of bready, grainy slightly caramelly malt, with hints of dark fruit: fig, raisin and a very subdued hop presence of rather bitter and slightly floral hops. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some sweet malt and bitter hops lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. This is a rather malt-forward Pale Ale that is very much dominated by sweet and grainy malt, with some light dark fruit and very little in the way of hops coming through, except for some light floral notes and a good bitterness that serves to balance out the malt sweetness well enough. It's all right, but the lack of hops and with the malt primarily just being sweet and grainy, this just seems a bit dull.
3.0 A copper beer, a head is big and blond. Aroma has caramel, wood, some dry cake and fruitness. Taste has caramel, wood, some mustyness. Medium bodied. Basic good.
3.3 Greene King Abbot Ale 5.0%. Amber, fruitcake aroma, medium bodied, barley malt, bittersweet citrus, pear, grassy, bitter finish. Average ESB from Bury St Edmonds.
3.3 50cl bottle thanks to @simontomlinson and EuroSwap 2/2020. Pours clear mahogony with white head. Aroma has hint of citrus and herbs. Taste is dominantly sweet nutty malts with nice noble bitterness. Simple, good and enjoyable!
2.3 Bottle version of Greene kings flagship strong ale Sweet taste with malty notes No comparison to cask hence low score
3.0 Bottle from Morrisons;
3.3 500ml Bottle from Nisa Supermarket, Springwell Village, Gateshead. Amber coloured with a thick white head. It has a toffee, malty and honey flavour with a gentle nutty, dried fruit and smooth almond finish. Pretty good.
3.0 Old school bottled bitter. Nice golden colour with a light head. Not over complicated, quite simple really, but a balance of bitterness and malt. Ok beer.
2.4 Aroma : Medium toasted toffee malt, merest hint of red fruits with a very light soapy/fusty note. Taste : Body is on the thin side of medium. Taste is mellow bittersweet throughout with a very slight astringent bitter aftertaste. Only real flavour of note is a strongish toffee maltiness. It's O.K. but really just a solid 'best bitter' rather than an ESB for me
3.1 Walked past this in the shops many many times without bothering to try it. It's always been on the shelves to the point where it is so ubiquitous you assume it must be shit. It's actually not a bad ESB. Caramel and toffee sweetness with a hint of dried prunes. Big on the malts. Bit of soapiness in the finish with a lingering bitterness. Would happily drink this again.
3.6 Part of me wants to hate this beer. After all we are living in a time of amazing IPA, APA, NEIPA, double dry hopped, craft, hazy, full flavoured massive % abv, ultra hopped, fat, citrus, mega chunky fruit bomb crafty beer...and I love it all. I do. But this.. this hits home. It's so close to home...This is heritage. This is dinosaur ale, soon to disappear forever. It's your first pint in a pub, it's what your dad had in his local everyday after work. It's on the pumps, it's in boring glassware. It's always been there. This was the beginning, and boy, in a way, it was beautiful. It's like a freshly baked loaf of boring old brown bread. But who doesn't like it every now and then? Copper pour, small white head. Not much carbonation at all. Smells sweet, malty. Loads of malt! Caramel, toffee. Roasted, coffee notes, sweet, always sweet. Taste is clean, sure boring, but satisfying. We don't need explosions everyday, some days we have to cruise and reflect and take stock. Sure it's bland but it's a reference, and it's a love letter to yesterday's brewing. Soon ... It will be gone.
3.5 2016 08 12 Butelka 0,5 l. Kolor piwa miedziany, herbaciany, trunek klarowny. Piana barwy brudnej bieli, obfita, z drobnych i średnich pęcherzyków. W aromacie toffi, karmel, nuty opiekane, ziołowe. W smaku bardzo podobnie - karmel, toffi, skórka od chleba, nuty chmielowe - trawiaste, ziołowe i przyprawowe. Pełnia średnia, wysycenie średnio niskie. Goryczka średnio niska, krótka, ziołowa. przyjemny, zbalansowany i pijalny angielski bitter.
3.1 A number of cans at a beach house in West Sussex. Decent dark amber fruity malty ale with good balance & well hopped.
2.8 Beer with copper color, clear aspect, soft bitterness, flat carbonized, low volume of foam on top, (drunk a 50cl can beer with PG, bought at "Apolónia", Almancil, PT #1063)(#18 EN)(#3 Suffolk).
