A perfectly balanced ale, characterised by its fresh hoppy taste and a clean bitter finish. The Official Beer of England Rugby, Greene King IPA is now the fastest selling cask ale in the UK.

2.7Cask @ Sherlock Holmes, Lontoo. Kaatuu lasiin kuparisena ja niukalla pysyvällä vaahdolla. Tuoksussa on karamellia, pähkinää ja sitrusta. Mieto maku taas on viljainen, pähkinäinen, lievästi sokerinen ja kevyesti löytyy makeaa hedelmää. Suutuntuma on kevyt ja ohut, hennot katkerot tuntuvat hieman. Kevyt bitter, ei erikoinen.
2.5Draught in Edinburgh. Amber pour with small off-white head. Typical British ale, which means hardly carbonation, so little aroma. Bit caramellish, but no hops really. Small bitterness. This is nor what I consider IPA. And no carbo indeed.
3.4Deep gold to copper. Thin head. Aroma intensity 3/5. Cut grass and peach aroma. Medium bitter. Slightly dry. Medium body
1.0Looks like a decent pint, then you taste it. It's very low carbonation makes it taste stale. It could have been sitting in a pump for months is my best guess. Consequently, the flat/still beer comes across flavourless and dull. With very little mouth feel, it's water texture is very off putting. Avoid it
3.1Cask at The Curator, Terminal 3 Heathrow. I feel peoppe have been a bit mesn to this one. Old English ipas are never gonna have any relation to the new styles we see as ipas. especislly from a big old macro like Greene king. it is also 3.8% or whatever. I would call it a bitter but whatever about the semantics. sweet malty aroma. mahogany brown. watery finish and taste.
3.0Cask at mccowans. Pours clear amber, nose is toffee, caramel, a bit of almond, floral, taste is similar, sweet.
2.1Cask @Bridgewood Manor. Bland, some light bitterness, some malts. That’s about it.
1.8V metropolitan bare. Vona takmer ziadna.farba medova. Chit skoro ziadna ki koncu trochu horka. Velmi nezaujimava.
2.3Cask @ Kings Stores, London. Clear amber with a small white head. Faint aroma of citrus fruits. Taste is very mild. Small hints of citrus fruits and biscuits. No bitterness to speak of. Low carbonation. Pretty inoffensive. Maybe, just maybe it grows on you after half a dozen of pints but I didn't feel it was worth finding out.
2.1Cask @ Kings Arms, Londen VII 2018.
2.1Cask (The Cricketers, Cambridge). Clear amber color. Huge size, white head, stays. Citrus, sweet, bit dirty in aroma. Sweet, lemon lollipop, caramel in taste. Caramel, sweet and citrus in aftertaste. Quite fizzy for a cask beer. Happens.
3.0Cask. Rather bland and boring but without any obvious faults. Sweet and fruity.
2.5Cask. Pours a pale copper gold with a thin head. Aroma is biscuity malt, mild caramel, orange and sweet malt. Biscuity malt and mild pine/caramel flavours dominate. Mild citrus. A little bit of a dull flavour palate, and the hops are not discernible. Thin to medium bodied. Mild lingering bitterness. A little bit too thin and dull for my liking. Drinkable, but average.
3.3Cask @ The Wadkin, Osgodby, Nr Selby North Yorkshire.
Where to start, its not in my opinion an IPA.
Malty, sweet edge, flavoursome bitter. Easy drinking beer.
2.6Cask @ Duke of Cumberland, Barham. Clear caramelcoloured beer. Sweet, malty, light bitter, some cardboard and tartness. Meh.
2.3So everyone's up in arms because they called a bitter an IPA. The nerve! Cask in the UK. Slightly hazy amber with a lacy off-white head. Aroma is caramel, breakfast tea. Flavor is very malty, caramel, old leaves, toffee, very slight bitterness. Feel is smooth, pretty light. Basically an average bitter, not at all an IPA.
3.2In Bulls Head, St Neots; little bit amber; little bit malty; little bit bland; little length; but... easy drinking and inoffensive
1.5This is fine as a standard bitter/ale but this is not an ipa as many others have said. Steer well clear
0.5Well I am sat in The Magpie, innit. Trying not to cry since Gary never turned up at KFC to share a bucket of chicken wit me. The bastard stood me up and I thought I would look for him in his yard. My bestie, Destiny told me to batter the prick when I see him.
So anyways I am here sat drinking a pint of this shit. It reminds me of Gary. Smells cheap, it's all rather flaccid with no oomph. It talks big, but when you get down to it there is nothing to excite me here.
Oh why do I waste tears on this arsehole. I am going to confront him at work later this week, Mark my words.
2.5Cask at the Bell, Kesgrave. Backlog rating from historic scoring. No tasting notes kept, just rating. Slightly better than bottled version.
1.6Malty rubbish! Smaakt en ruikt naar niets.... zonde! IPA ook totaal niet.... geen hops te merken.
2.3On cask in Kentish Town. There's is nothing about this beer that's an IPA. It's malty and hop-free, and pretty much the definition of a boring cask bitter.
0.5Filth. Seriously, Trading Standards should be on to these charlatans. A disgrace to beverages, not just beer. This website wont allow me to give a lower rating.
I'd rather drink warm Yazoo through my great aunt's old tights.
3.0On cask at Three Magies Heathrow. Gold and clear with minimal foam. Mostly light malt flavor with some floral hop bitterness. It’s drinkable.
2.0Dark amber colour. Not much smell nor taste similar to dish water. Unpleasant till the end and very watery. Very thin head. May taste better bottled but yet to try. Not a great IPA
4.0It may not be a beer that screams and shouts anything in particular, but if I was forced to choose one beer to drink for the rest of my life, I might well choose this one, because it has this thing called subtlety. It’s drinkable, refreshing, has no overpowering notes that make you feel you’ve had enough after the second pint. It has great aroma and subtle flavours which will grow on you.
2.7Sweet and sour yeasty aroma. Dark Amber. Creamy off-white head. Sweet through to a light bitterness. However the more I drink the more sugary it seems to get. Light bodied. Watery with a dish water finish. Really quite crap.
1.2On cask in a pub near St Paul Cathedral, London, UK. It pours clear amber, with a minimum white head. Aroma is malt and caramel, notes of toffee. Taste is... ? Which taste? Light bitter, not good. Body is light, carbonation is flat. Overall terrible.
