Grimbergen Goud (Dorée) 8°

Grimbergen Goud (Dorée) 8°

This is a strong blonde beer, full of character with tertiary fermentation in the bottle yet still very accessible.
Alc. 8% vol.
Taste: The traditional Grimbergen recipe is enriched here trough the use of aromatic hops, which gives the beer its refined bitterness and hoppy character. The result is a refreshingly strong blonde beer.

4.0 From elcervecero. In Duvel glass. After dinner. A few days before BB date. Much better than the grimbergens sold here in Spain. This tastes like a Duvel. Alcohol well hidden. Be careful
3.0 Bottle, 330 ml. Pours yellowish amber, clear. Head is white and frothy with good retention. Bit of lacing. Standard malty belgian nose with the usual bread and honey notes, with a little spice and fruitiness. Can’t say I detect any specifically hoppy notes, though alcohol is apparent. Taste is sweet and fruitier with notes of pineapple at the forefront as well as the expected honey malts. Gets a little bit bitter towards the end with the advertised hoppy notes finally emerging, bringing with them some tingly spicy and herbal notes, all quite subtle or subdued though. Finish is a bit too long and sticky, with yeast hanging around for a while. Well balanced but could be better. Unfortunately alcohol is too prominent still, bringing it down a notch. Palate is constructed decently with a little bit of carb and a good medium body. Pretty standard tripel with a small hoppy edge keeping things enjoyable, though again too much booze in the taste.
3.1 02-18-2015 - Another Grimbergen bites the dust... The original was better for me...
3.4 Bottle 33cl. Clear yellow with a medium white top that lasts. Aroma is mildly sweet with hints of malts and yeast. Pleasant. The taste is mildly sweet with a bitter undertone that gets stronger in the aftertaste.
3.3 31.1.2015. Fresh aroma with fruits, yeast, spices. Taste has lemon, yeast, some fruits, sweetish. A bit lame.
3.0 Bottle. Pours a clear golden beer with a medium sized, white head on top. Aroma is grainy, yeasty, fairly boring. Flavor is medium sweet, slight boozy, big malty sweetness. Typical tripel, textbook but boring. Meh.
3.2 0,33L bottle (from Wine of Galilee), BB 21.12.15. Pours clear golden wtih white head. The head stays. Aroma is fresh fruits, spices, yeast. Flavor is sweet and bitter, fresh fruits, spices, medicinal notes. Carbonation is high. Overall: very simple, but ok as long as it’s cold. Once it’s starts to warm up, the booze starts to kick in.
3.0 Golden liquid, small head. Aroma of hops. Medium body, average carbonation. Taste is bitter.
3.4 Bottle 33cl. Clear deep golden color, large white frothy head; recedes slowly to a thin layer with yeast islets, good lacing; malty yeast nose, bread, fruity, light citrus, grass, spices; taste medium sweet and bitter, rather sharp and peppery; medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation, aftertaste light to medium sweetbitter, spicy, bit banana, alcoholic; overall a tasty Duvel-like beer, but too rough and sharp.
2.3 330ml bottle. Clear golden color. Medium size, white head, stays. Fruity, bit yeasty, caramel, farty aroma. Malty, straw, dead fruits, yeasty, alcohol in taste. Rough. Alcoholic aftertaste.
2.3 330ml bottle - thanks Marduk! Pleasantly hopy tripel aroma. Rough alcoholic taste. Thin palate. Way boozey ffinish. Not a good belgian at all. So rough and boozy. I think I can breath flames after this.
3.5 Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. Clear, golden beer in which little gems provide a creamy white head. Complex earthy aromas complemented by fresh notes of green apple. The taste is mostly dry and fruity notes of citrus and mandarin. The finish is very nice and malty.
3.8 Un peu comme la Duvel. Même couleur dorée, large col de mousse quand on la verse, goût assez proche.
3.5 Golden with rich bit creamy white head. Yeasty aroma. Sour and sweet taste with fruity/floral notes, certain carbonation, followed by remaining bitterness. A but too sharp taste.
3.2 33 cl. bottle . Clear golden colour with a white head. Aroma and flavour of spice, yeast, alcohol, fruit and floral notes.
2.9 Bottle 33cl. Golden with a white head. Aroma is very subtle, some wheat and to me of a sort of saison style. High carbonized, and rich tast which also reveils hops. Rather short finish.
3.1 Duvel-inspired addition to the Grimbergen range since 2008. Snow white, sticky, regular head, pale yellow blonde colour with lively sparkling, clear but misty after adding the deposit, so clearly bottle-fermented. Not very strong aroma of pale malts, unripe peach, green apple, bread, sweat, cheese spread, flowery hops and a plastic-like chemical smell. Sweet fruity onset, apple, sharpish carbonation with dry effect, restrained malt sweetness, bit yeasty, supple mouthfeel, grassy hops in the finish, medium long, also a bit phenolic. Okay, for a Grimbergen at least.
3.6 Bottle at home. Very pale golden colour with a thin white head. Fresh, yeasty, grassy aroma. Alcohol, yeast, faint fruit and mild hoppiness in the flavour. Best when not too cold. Similar to the triple but with more bite.
3.2 Bona cervesa, bastant equilibrada i gustosa. Buena cerveza, bastante equilibrada y sabrosa.
3.5 Bottle at The Fiddler, Den Haag. Poured a crystal clear straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is sweet fruity, floral hop. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a huge crisp, sharp yeast, dry hop, alcohol bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. The aroma was special but the palate felt like is was going to suck all the moisture out of my mouth! Rather like a KLM sandwich then :-)
1.9 Golden abbey tripel, yeast, spices, dryness, esters.balanced. but load of alchool in the taste
3.3 Appearance with golden color, liquid turbid (medium) and nice head of foam. Floral aroma (hops). On the palate, a fruity flavor (melon), malt and alcohol. Excellent Strong Ale, this Grimbergen points to Duvel!
3.6 Gouden kleur mrt lichte kop.
3.3 33 cl. Pours a light clear yellow with big white head. Aroma is nondescript. Taste is sweet. Palate: light. Carbonation. Overall: good beer
3.4 33cl bottle at home. Pale golden with a medium white soapy head. Medium body with lively carbonation. Sweet with bitter hoppy notes. Ditrus, grass and herbs. A decent tripel.
