Gruut Bruin

Gruut Bruin

Gruut brown beer has a deep brownish colour with a golden touch and develops a delicate and stable foam. The degustation is surprising but very pleasant. The beer has character and the presence of abundantly much taste.

3.5 Bit of a stout-like ale. Dark, brownish firm head. Creamy, a bit oily. Smell of wine and red fruits. Stout-like taste - roasted, liquorice, coffee, toffee. Lot of coffee in the aftertaste.
2.2 Brr te veel noot smaak
3.7 PPours a slightly cloudy, deep, dark amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of sweet, quite bready, caramel malt, some estery spice and herbal notes, as well as just a hint of nuttiness. Taste is a good balance of quite sweet bready, caramel malt, dark fruit: fig raisin, estery spice: clove, some herbal, bitter accents and just a hint of chocolate and nuts coming through as well. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some estery spice and herbal accents lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. Considering that this is a Gruit beer at heart, brewed with herbs and nuts instead of hops, it really makes for a surprisingly enjoyable Dubbel. Perhaps a tad too sweet, but the malts, never feel too cloying, being balanced by a surprising herbal bitterness, with some estery spice and nutty notes adding some depth to this.
3.0 Interesting, spicy. Ok, but not great.
4.3 Dark brown with a two fingers wide head. Malty smell of caramel and chocolate. Roasted taste with a raisins component and a nice spicy finish. Full body and medium carbonation.
3.5 7.5% ABV Bottle from Delhaize Supermarket, Gent, Belgium. Cloudy brown-red coloured with a thick white head of foam. It has a dried fruit and spicy flavour with warming plum on the rich Christmas cake like finish. Pretty good.
3.0 Black colour, frothy head. Aroma is lots of raisin. Medium sweetness. Rather boring.
3.5 Bottle from the Crafty Bottle Lincoln. Deep amber to deep brown colour with a thin off white head. Aroma fruity caramel and yeasty. Taste deep back wd bitter sweet. Full body.
3.4 Pours slightly cloudy amber. Aroma is roasted, malty bread. Taste is slightly coffee,
3.0 hazy brown with brownish head. smell is tartness and fruity. taste is very rich, nutty, red fruits, chocolatey finish. nice
2.2 Helder roodbruin bier met weinig crème kleurig schuim. Geur: mout, karamel en ietwat fruitigheid. Smaak: zoet, karamel. Medium koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: wel ja, zoet.
3.1 33cl Bottle @ Beer Mania, Brussels, Belgium. Dark brown colour with a thin white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, nuts, yeast, hints of chocolate. Taste follows the aroma. Medium body, average carbonation.
2.2 Bottle, dark brown colour, beige foam. Nose of caramel, plums, blood, very metallic. Taste is also very metallic, light sweet and lots of iron. Not good.
1.3 flets bier, beetje chocolade, beetje karamel, beetje... net door deze beetjes geen volwaardige smaak. Valt tegen.
3.5 Bottle from a Delhaize in Ghent. Pours hazy dark brown with a diminishing, frothy, tan head; little lacing. Aroma of caramel, licorice, red apple, peanuts, milk chocolate, hebs, cookie dough, some pear. It tastes medium malty & caramelly sweet, hints of nuts & ripe pear, and light herbal bitter, bit yeasty. herbal, spicy finish, but overall malty with lingering caramel & dough. Medium body, thin syrupy texture, soft carbonation. Actually quite enjoyable.
3.8 hazy amber colour, medium sized beige-ish off-white head; aroma of plum jam, unripe fruits like apple, maybe pear and plum, biscuity notes and some alcoholic spiciness; taste has the same notes with some Belgian yeast; good one!
3.7 Botella de 33 cl. adquirida en Zaragoza. Temperatura de servicio 6-7 grados centigrados en Copa. Color marrón oscuro, turbia. Espuma color marrón claro. Poco persistente. Aroma a caramelo, pasas, chocolate. Sabor dulce. Notas licorosas, café, caramelo tostado.
3.1 Appearance: Quite dark brown, clear. Some light tan head. Aroma: Molasses, dark fruit, sweet. Nutty. Taste: Dark fruit, malt, sweetness, spices, Belgian yeast. Nutty. Bought: Beers of Europe, 330 ml, £3.49 Info: 16/12-2017, 109/300M, BB: 15/2-2018
4.4 A very distinctive Ghent beer. Most telling on the palate, but generally satisfying. Ghent is a magnificent city and in the old town this is a fine libation. Would I drink it again, probably no. But in the Dulle Griet it is marvellous and worth the appreciation of professional beer samplers or liquid explorers.
3.0 23-07-17 // bottle shared at home. Deep brown beer with a creamy beige head. Malt forward taste, sweet caramel, mild boozy dark fruits, raisin.
3.1 Sample at the brewery. Light brown color, thin creamy head somehow persistent. Aroma of sweet roasted malta, caramel, cherries, candy sugar. No hops, as they don’t use it, some bittering herbs instead. Taste sweet, smooth sweet finish.
3.8 Bottle 33cl from Dranken Geers. Nose of sweet malts, munich malt, dark bread, slight fruity. Aroma of raisins, chocolate, sweet cream, capuccino even. Taste is rather sweet, lots of residual sugar. Not really sticky, the palate is smooth and velvety. Surprisingly rich but maybe a bit too sweet.
3.4 Bottle 33 cl / Boissons Center - Montagny (CH). Muddy bloody orange beer with an average off-white head and active sparkling. Soft malted aromas caramel, roasted, cassonade, dry fruits and hint of yeast. The taste is soft, with caramel and spices, maraschino cherry, herbs, yeast and bitter of nuts-almond. Alcohol present.
3.1 Hazy brown with quickly vanished beige head. Strong aroma of roasted malts, caramel, red fruits, plums, raisins, cherry, and indeed some nuts. Taste is quite sweet and quite much cherry and other red fruit; too much for me, and somewhat flat. Quite low carbonised. This beer is not well in balance to me; and not my taste...
2.9 Fairly average. Roasted grain, bit of spice, hints of bread and dark fruits and maybe some raisin . Dark amber color, very few foam.
3.2 Sampled from tap at the brewpub. Hazy, brownish amber with a beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity and a bit spicy aroma of caramel, brown sugar, some nuts and slight hints of dark fruits. Sweetish-malty, moderately yeasty-spicy and minimally fruity taste of caramel, nuts, some honey, clove and some dark fruits, followed by a short, slightly bitter, moderately yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, smooth and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Nice!
3.4 0.33 bottle. A very hazy, brown color with a small, off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, sugar, and vanilla as well as some sweet dough. Taste of malts, caramel, sugar, dark fruits, and some notes I cannot distinguish from the mix yet feel their impact. A full body, a creamy texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is sweet, medium long, and emphasizes the caramel. Overall, not bad.
