Guinness Extra Stout (North America)

Guinness Extra Stout (North America)

Labatt’s brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company. Editor’s Note: It looks like Moosehead is also brewing Guinness. Bottles in the US are from there of late, but Canadian bottles are still showing Labatt. 04/23/06

3.4 Bottle in Manhattan, New York. Oh, this has the roasted barley taste unlike the Extra Stout in the British Isles or Europe. Not that different from the draught Guinness, except more ABV.
3.8 My First Love (beer love), I realized I was not the common drinker, my first step towards styles and variety, enjoying more my senses rather than the “non-senses” of getting wasted...
3.7 On tap at The Napper Tandy bar in San Francisco, California. Black aroma with big beige head. Bitter roasted malt taste with dry aftertaste.
5.0 klasszikus
2.7 Smakfull Guiness men ingen höjdare.
4.3 Poured from bottle and it’s a dark coffee color with a head the color of coke fizz. The taste is bittersweet and finishes smooth despit it’s thick texture. The head disappears quickly but leaves good lacing on the glass as you drink. Another fine beer from Guinnes!
3.6 The ABV is 5.6%
4.0 Dark black color creamy tan thick foam head smell of coffee dark chocolate dried fruit taste dark coffee bitter hops at the end
3.1 Poured from bottle into Tulip L Jet black with dark beige head S Coffee, slight hint of corn syrup T Coffee, Chocolate, Caramel, hint of vanilla F Well Carbonated, medium bodied, a little bit of bitterness on the back end. Overall an old Faithful beer, not the best of stouts but widely available and pretty dang good.
5.0 The beer. The myth. The legend.
2.7 Bière bue en bouteille Couleur ébène. Petite mousse beige disparaissant rapidement. Au nez, malt grillé. Au goût, maltée acqueuse avec goût de résine et de bois brûlé. Je me passerais volontier de cette bière.
4.1 coffee and caramel taste is delicious
3.8 From 12 ounce bottle to wine glass Sight: Black, dark brown on the edges when held against the light, medium dark tan foam Smell: malty, nutty Taste: low bitterness Overall: Very good beer ok to repeat not look for
3.7 Bottle at home for end of SNF surprised hasn’t rated prior. Nice dark pour big frothy head. Nose is roasted malt and light licorice. Tastes of toasted malt, light coffee grind, earth, licorice and some cola. Fairly bitter and dry.
3.0 Pours oil dark with roasting on the nose tobacco and bakers chocolate palate with oily finish
4.5 First beer that got me into some really good stuff love the notes of coffee taste
3.5 Bottle. It pours black with a tan color head. Roasted malt aroma. Dry taste. Good.
3.4 Surprinsingly found this one at the nice Beer Store in Gloucester, sweeter and smoother than the original version. I like. Made a very bad impression after having a super Imperial breakfast stout
2.9 Dunkelbraun, cremige stabile Krone. Stärkere gebrannte Röstaromen, intensiver Kaffee. Antrunk Kaffee und Frucht, etwas schlank.
3.6 Six pack from Market Basket. Solid dark brown in color with a thin tan head that persists. Rich roasty coffee aroma and flavor with hints of dark fruit earth and touch of tartness. Tasty as always.
4.0 Much smoother, creamier, and less bitter than regular Guinness.
3.8 Aroma contains Roast malt character. A little chocolate is in the aroma as well. A ton roast, burnt, charred notes. Biscuit is present thought out. An acrid bitter tinge on the finish.
3.4 Great beer, pours very dark, almost black, but not quite. The head is slightly brown (but not in a bad way) it is thick and flavorful, adding a-lot to the experience. The body is full and rich, with a nutty flavor. I highly recommend it.
4.1 Bottle. Close to pitch black but I can see some red hues, nice off white head of foam, and even with the foam shrunk to a fine layer, there's good lacing. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee aromas abound. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, light coffee, all nicely balanced. It's a Lot L so it was bottled in December. At 4 months, still a treat. Mouthfeel is great, screw the nitro, and very drinkable. One of the standard bearers of the style.
3.7 Bottle. Dark. Tan head. Wet cardboard. Corn chips with some malt & bitter. Insouciant beer drinkers will find this acceptable.
4.5 My first beer. My first stout and now many hold up to Guinness when found on tap. Dark black color with a malty, almost slightly burnt malt aftertaste but it isn’t offputting. Very smooth beer. I can drink it all night while hanging with my friends.
4.2 This is the first stout that I ever tried and it is still the one that I compare all other stouts to. I would love to travel to Ireland and get this magical brew fresh from the brewery but until then I am happy with enjoying this from the bottle here at home.
4.0 Bottle poured into a tulip glass, black with small tan head, which left good lacing, Roasted malt flavor with coffee, some dark chocolate, licorice, molasses, pepper, raisins. This is a good stout would recommend to my friends.
4.0 The classic foreign version of Guiness. I don't even bother with the export draught/draft. This has the muscle, but I always wish Guiness here in the states was anything like the stuff in Ireland, which is completely magical. The Irish Guiness in Ireland is like mother's milk, a very creamy head, a stout that washes down in a magical way and has full, thick body. For some reason this beer is almost always pure acid by the time it gets to the states. The bitter hops, maybe? It's not the same stuff, maybe it's an Irish law.
3.8 Pours a dark brown to black with a khaki head. Aromas of chocolate and malt Tastes the same with a little smoke. Thin mouth feel. But overall not bad.
