3.6 Thanks YantarCoast for this one. Almost black, decent ivory-coloured head. Nose: roasted malts, toast, esters, chocolate. Medium minus body. Taste: quite dry, fairly roasted, coffee and chocolate, light roasted and estery sourness. Light to medium bitterness. Not bad overall
3.2 From Tesco in B stoke
3.4 Sample@Ølfestival, København 2019. A black beer with a beige head. Aroma and flavour of malt, caramel, chocolate, alcohol and with a roasted finish.
4.2 600ml Bottles from B&M Gateshead. Inky black with ruby red highlights and a massive rocky tan head of foam. It has a very rich chocolate, brine, and red fruity flavours with oak, vanilla, roasted and whiskey notes on the smooth spicy finish. Excellent.
3.2 Bottle at Ikoyi. Dark brown-black with a bubbly beige head. Roasted aromas with notes of prunes and some fruity esters. Modertely sweet, roasted, chocolate, caramel, prunes, esters, alcohol, slightly sourish. Medium-bodied, soft carbonation. Decent.
3.5 Clearly not my favorite Guinness. A touch bit too bitter for my taste. But has the advantage to be a tad stronger than your average Guinness and I know some people love it for that fact. Still a good beer with a lot of aromas.
3.7 Black beer, thick head. Rich malty smell. Taste is malty too, with some dark chocolate and a little liquorice. A touch of fruit too. Really nice.
3.9 Ciemnobrunatne prawie czarne nieprzezroczyste piwo z obfitą pianą. Aromat kawy, pieczonych tostów. W smaku kawa, prażony chlebek, karmel i trochę nut palonych. Dobry fes
4.2 330ml bottle in 2017. Black with a dense brown head. Aroma of sorghum, molasses, dark rum and burnt malt. Really full bodied. Flavours of port, coffee, treacle and burnt toast. Slightly sweeter than the Irish and Belgian versions, but still probably the best beer you’re likely to find in a British corner shop.
3.7 Appearance and strength excellent. Coffee flavours good. A little harsh. Will need to compare again with local stuff. Second tasting strong flavours. Mollasses and deep flavours of chocolate. Nice
3.4 Bottle from beers of Europe. Black colour with a tan head. Roasted malty, burnt ash, liquorice and chocolate hints. Sweet to roasted bitter taste full but slightly course body.
2.7 Can, thanks Ritzn. Nose is burned coffee beans, some rubber. Palate is fake coffee, rubber, chocolate. Not horrible for a country tick.
3.2 Can from Nigeria (really!). Dark brown, decent head for a non-nitro Guinness. Light sweetness in the nose overlaid by coffee roast notes. WOW this is different from a normal Guinness Export; flavor is more like an alcoholic version of the grain-based no-caffeine coffee substitute. Really strange but interesting.
2.3 Can, thanks Theresa. Dark brown. Aroma is dusty burnt rubber chocolate. Taste is harsh melasses with some burnt rubber again. Not so great. Weird coffee.
2.8 Can. Darkest brown color with white head. Aroma is burnt rubber, chocolate, grains. Taste is grains, roast, burnt rubber again. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Alright for a country tick.
3.6 325ml bottle from beersofeurope.co.uk. Very dark brown colour with large tan head. Big sweet dark roasted malts, sorghum, dark chocolate, cocoa beans, espresso, green coffee beans, caramel, dark fruit, tobacco, molasses, liquorice, ashy, dry, more booze than expected for abv - weird almost dark rum type alcohol (?), bit sweeter than the regular foreign extra stout and weirdly sour + lactic almost - I'm guessing because of the sorghum in this Nigerian version. Definitely pretty different to the regular version, bit unusual + weird in a good way
3.8 Fles 66cl thuis. Bitter, laurier, drop, romig, zoeten, suikers, sorghum, wat grassig, tonen van caramel, gebrande mout, koffie, chocolade, stroperig, soms metalig bijsmaakje. (15-2-2019).
3.7 Bottle. Opaque black liquid with medium light tan head. Aroma of raw sugar, light chocolate, caramel, toffee, light booze and licorice. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of caramel, chocolate and raw sugar. Some burnt malt as well. Medium to full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Nice stuff!
3.3 Not terribly similar to the Irish-brewed version of Foreign Extra. The head is more modest, the aroma less interesting: sweet and malty, with some bread, vanilla and toffee - I'm (largely) missing roasty components. Bitterness is the foremost tongue experience, accompanied by an unwelcome sour edge and finish (albeit with a hint of cream sherry). Decent enough - but I wouldn't stock it at home.
3.9 Bottle from Tesco. Black with a craggy beige head. Really rich, creamy mouthfeel. Milk chocolate, coffee, cream, brown bread, cherries and a light roastiness in the flavour. A touch of spice too. Unfortunately there's also some cardboard and metal - something I normally hate, but in this case it's not prominent enough to ruin the other flavours. It's pretty good actually. See Big Beer, you can make decent brews!
3.2 Bottle from Tesco. Pours black with a big tan head. Aroma: burnt roasty malts, cholclate, earthy. Taste: moderate sweet, sweet roasted malts, light bitter, dark chocolate, liquorice, light coffee, ash. Medium body, ample carb, creamy mouthfeel, dry finish.
4.7 Amazing stout, certainly one of the greatest bottled Guinness. Toasted notes, with clear hints of licorice and coffee, which are really balanced. Dark colors, black with a beige, fine, dense foam.
3.3 Bottle received from minutemat in euro local swap 2/2018, cheers Mat! Pours black & tan. Aroma is somewhat sour with a huge candy-like sweetness with (sweet) liquorice emerging behind it, quite estery, almost like a Belgian yeast is used. Taste has liquorice, salmiakki, tobacco, some spices (nutmeg, ginger?), cherry liqueur even? It is very sweet and somewhat salty. It's a weird one, there are some things I like, but it's a bit too much and too sweet.
3.3 Bottle from Beers of Europe cons 2018-06-09 Uddingston AR: roasted malt, bakers chocolate AP: dark brown, stouty sand brown lid F: roasted malt, bakers chocolate, bitter,
2.2 bottle shared @Caesar's Mancave tasting, from trade with Minutemat, shared with Caesar, Benzai and Skortilla. black with a fine beige head. aroma of roasted malts, malty, some cacao powder. Taste of chocolate, some coffee, grain, slightly acidic, weak roastes, rye bread. typical guinness
2.9 Tx shiva dragon. Aroma is grainy, bit chocolate, bit rye. Black coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is caramel malty sweet with chocolate.
2.8 THT April at Kwartje, Gooey/Geoduck Edition. Bottle. Black with tan head. Roasted dark malts. Licorice, cardboard, alcohol, old cigarette buds. Moderate sweet and bitter. Over medium body and soft carbonation.
2.7 Bottle shared at THT April. Black with dark beige head. Apple, licorice, ash, raisins, lots of roast, quite earthy, light berries. Medium sweet, over medium bitter and light sour. Medium bodied. Quite weird, but not horrible.
2.6 Bottle at tht. Aroma of sweet malt, chocolate and licorice. Taste has sweet malt, chocolate, licorice and even more licorice. Blech.
3.7 17-03-18 // bottle at Nollywood, Frankfwurt. Pours dark black with a beige goamy head. Aroma of sweet malts. Taste is full of roasted malts, solid sweetness, I dont know how sorghum is supposed to taste but it definitely gives a nice twist to the Guinness.mild roasted biter finish. Good stout.
