Guinness Open Gate Blonde American Lager

A crisp, refreshing tasting beer with a rich, delicious flavor. Brewed in America in the Guinness tradition known only to our Master Brewers with our famous Guinness yeast and Mosaic and Williamette American hops. Brewed under contract at Guinness Brewing Co. Latrobe, Pa (City Brewery)

Note: Initially brewed at City Brewery on contract, production moved to Open Gate once the plant opened.

2.4 Golden straw pour that is slightly cloudy, quarter inch white head. Sweet grainy lager yeast as well as strong earthiness, hints of apple juice too. Average carbonation, thicker mouthfeel, finishes clean. Earthy Grain and apple from nose are evident in taste, crisp coriander and a hint of nutmeg and perhaps cardamom. Decent.
2.0 11.2 oz. bottle poured into my Guinness 250 Year Anniversary pint glass. Pale, copper pour. White pillowy head. Lots of tiny carbonation bubbles creating a mildly citrus and skunk aroma. Cardboard taste. Guinness yeast is somewhat distinguishable. Whatever citrus character they were going for is drowned out with a pungent biscuit skunk. Not sure what the market is for this awful mixture. Will avoid this one in the future, luckily I only grabbed one bottle in a mix-and-match sixer.
2.9 Finally got round to rating desperate times fellas. More deep gold than blonde not the prettiest hue either. Nose is doughy and sweet sugar. Tastes of honey, dough, grainy, light citrus. Nothing off putting but nothing special.
3.3 Pours clear amber with a nice white head. Fair carbonation, oddly dry aroma for a lager. Taste is like a pilsner on the tongue followed by an immediate sweet tropical fruity taste. Palate includes dry hops and a great malt backbone on the nose. Really interesting beer, nothing like I expected it to be.
3.8 The caramel and malt of Guinness without the heaviness and bitterness.
3.3 16 ounce can at home. Smells malty. Medium white head, film on glass. Golden in color and surprised thought would be lighter in color. Smooth and grainy in taste Not much after taste and very drinkable. Above average beer for the style. Cheers!
2.9 12 oz bottle pours out crisp clean Golden Top with a fluffy white head. Nose is cereal grain notes a touch of grassy hops. Taste is cereal grain corn some grassy Hops and A Touch of Spice.
2.2 I enjoy some lagers, and I enjoy some blondes.....but this one I did not enjoy. Lacked flavor and hops. Was on sale as a promotion when this first started marketing here in the US, so figured I'd try it out for the hot weather in FL. Has a pale light golden appearance. Tastes of light grain and water. This was a few years ago, and was so forgettable that I apparently forgot to review it then.
2.8 12 oz single bottle from Warh. Clear golden appearance with a diminishing white head. Mild aroma of bread, husky grains and light hoppy notes. Similar flavor, adding mild sweetness. Light body with a smooth feel and a grainy finish. Fairly clean overall.
4.1 Something about this lager that I like very much. That subtle sweetness, crisp and refreshing. One of my go-to summer beers for all moods.
2.4 Bottle in New York from a grocery. Pours pale golden with white head. Floral hops with bready malts. Decent if very average lager.
2.8 I'm not sure what the point of this is. It tarnishes the food name of Guinness with something like a Heineken
2.6 Flasa. Zlata farba, biela pena. Vona sladova, sladka. Chut sladova, trosku med, chlebovost, jemna horkost.
2.5 12oz bottle. Pours a crystal yellow, medium white head. Aroma of hay, honey, some floral hop notes. Taste is creamy honey and freshly cut hay. Refreshing after mowing the lawn.
2.4 16oz can. I mean, what is there really to say? It's blonde, it's a bit creamier than your run of the mill lager. Floral, not really all that hoppy, but I suppose compared to macro beers... it is. Earthy hop notes more than anything else. Sweet, okay.
2.6 Tall can purchased at 8th St Liquor Store in New Westminster. A medium amber beer with generous white head and a faint nose malt, trace of hop. On the palate it's more generously hopped than most macro lagers, and the malt is less sweet. 2.6
3.4 Pretty good. Pleasantly surprised. A bit on the sweet side for this style, yet nice and light, very session-able beer. I will buy again. Tall can, lcbo, TO.
3.2 Guinness' attempt at a "standard" American lager. Pours a golden color, clean aroma with some grains and fruitiness, perhaps a slight "straw" aroma as well. Bready, sweet grains and citric/fruity hop notes. Light dryness in finish. Not bad, not too exciting but it gets the job done.
2.7 Dégustée le 2018-07-07. .
2.2 Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is sweet, corn, wheat, earthy hops, some caramel malt. Appearance is amber golden, clear, light tan head. Taste is wheat, cheap, corn, caramel malt, cardboard, earthy hop, slightly astringent. Mouthfeel is light body, light crisp carbonation, cheap wheat cardboard astringent aftertaste. Overall, I didn't expect this to be good and I was correct.
4.0 Quite a nice malty flavoured beer. Not an all night beer but good for a beer with wood
3.1 Guinness’ version of light beer
3.1 Light bitter. Sweet and carbonated. Malty. Enjoyable. Carbonated. Basic beer.
3.4 Pours light yellow, white head. Fruity aroma, grassy. Taste is biscuiyy malt, lightly hippo. Not bad for a euro pale lager, more American hop aroma
3.4 A nice lager with some body and flavour. Better than all mass mass made light lagers by a mile.
5.0 Must be a bunch kids rating their loser family’s brew. This brew is nothing short of brilliant! I’ll say it again, brilliant! I could go on for days about the virtue of this malt. My new all time favorite. When the rest of you learn how to discern an epic brew from some carbonated dish water with vodka poured in, let me know.
2.0 Lager simple. Vigorosa. Sin factores diferenciales.
3.5 Poured from bottle AROMA - off malt APPEARANCE - nice lookin amber gold with frothy head. FLAVOR - malt, hops, touch of spice. PALATE - more dry than sweet, refreshing. OVERALL - not bad. I would buy again
0.8 if you like guinness, you may like this it is just like guinness, but lighter. flavor is sharp, hops are noticed not bad............ but not real good.
3.0 Not a bad Lager, but not my favorite beer. I’ll keep searching for the perfect Lager
