Gulden Draak
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers.
Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

330ml Bottle 14/04/2022 Large bubbly white head. Medium carbonation. Malt and a little spiced aroma. Amber coloured smooth on the palate and fruity. Some initial sweetness. Strong in alcohol with a hint of bitterness in a slightly dry lasting malt finish.

Piana beżowa, klarowne brązowe.
Smak słodki trochę melanoidynowej goryczki.
Nagazowanie spore,, delikatne, alkohol niewyczuwalny zbytnio, treściwość średnia.
Ogólnie przypomina trochę koźlaki tylko ma bogatszy aleowy smak taki barleywine, lepszy niż quadruple które piłem do tej pory, chętnie jeszcze spróbuje.
Multipak z Lidla.
Podobnie jak ciemna wersja, bo ona piwa w smaku bardzo podobne, słodowe, karmelowe, może zbyt monotonne przy większej ilości.
0,33 l bottle from a local Lidl. Deep mahagoni in the glass, more than one finger pale beige foamy head. Malty on the nose with a lot of plum and cherry. Taste is also fruity, strong malty, caramel. Earthy. Smooth. Dark. Alcoholic but not boozy. Nice.

Muy bonita en copa, de color marrón oscuro, bastante turbia y con espuma abundante de buena retención.
Aromas intensos a licor, caramelo, y fruta madura. Sabor complejo en la línea del aroma, algo dulce en boca, pero no tanto como otras belgas del estilo. Ciruelas, pasas y frutos oscuros, cuerpo completo con carbonatación media-baja, muy agradable en boca. Se nota la calidez del alcohol , bien integrado.
W aromacie: suszone owoce (daktyle, śliwki, rodzynki, brzoskwinie, figi), ciemne pieczywo, pumpernikiel, nuty orzechowe i czekoladowe, w tle świeże owoce (banan i gruszki).
Smak półsłodki, nuty karmelowe, ciemnego pieczywa, orzechowe, czekolady mlecznej, w tle suszone owoce.
Pełnia wysoka, nagazowanie niskie, goryczka średnia.
Na plus - dobrze ukryty alkohol, mimo, że piwo świeże. Na minus - brak fenoli, w sumie to Belgia, więc powinny być.
Pours a deep mahogany with a quickly dispersing head. Aroma is strong alcohol and sour fruit, taste the same. An amazing beer, on draught from Øl in Ieper and in bottle from Lidl supermarket as a box set with other Van Steenberge ales and from Nico's Belgian Beer House in Fuerteventura. Delicious.

Enjoyed: Poured from a bottle into trappist glass.

Overall impression: Very tasty and enjoyable, alcohol is not sensible despite ABV.
Bottle from Lidl, Hamburg - clear copper color, beige head. Taste is plums, dark wood, port. Quite sticky sweet. Headache stuff. Medium carbonation. Round and warm. A sipper. This seems to have many fans. I‘m not one of them, even though I can acknowledge it’s a well done strong beer.

Botella de 33 cl. Fecha de consumo preferente 11/05/2024. Color ámbar con carbonatación media y dos dedos de espuma. Aroma a caramelo, chocolate, uvas pasas, ciruelas. Sabor a caramelo, ciruelas, uvas pasas, azúcar moreno, chocolate. Cuerpo medio, alcohólica, demasiado dulce, me ha costado terminarla, no me ha gustado mucho.

Dark redish amber color with minimal head. Caramel, prunes, dried fruits aromas. Light bitterness and sweetness. Average to full body, sticky, bit fizzy.
11.2 oz bottle. Pours dark red with tall, long-lasting, foamy off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is Belgian yeast, caramel malt, spices, brown sugar, herbal hops and dark fruit. Body is full and crisp. Taste is similar to aroma. Finish is long and spicy. Great brew.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 21.12.2022) im 2022-04 getrunken. Dieses kupferfarbende Bier kommt mit einer sehr kräftigen Schaumbildung daher. Am Gaumen dominiert eine leicht fruchtige Hefe und weniger schwere Malzaromen wie bei anderen dunklen Belgiern. Im Abgang erinnert es mehr an ein Triple mit seinen leichten Bananenaroma. Ein leckeres Bier!

Fles. Ooit gedronken in de jaren voor ik op ratebeer zat. Werkelijke waardering moeilijk meer te achterhalen, maar was prima bier. Waardering daarom gezet op bovengemiddeld.

Reddish brown pour. Thick foamy tan head with tenacious retention. Big aromas of spices, banana, clove, Belgian yeast, bread, biscuit and some sour fruity notes. Flavor instantly unleashes most of these flavors upon the palate. Sweet and tart dark fruits. Raisin, rum cake, bubble gum, figs. The wine yeast can be detected. A deep and dessert-like taste. Complex malts, heavy spices. Bready and delicious. Leaves a lot of lacing on the glass. Solid and extremely tasty. Excellent and complex Belgian ale.
33cl bottle. Color is bright red with a slight haze. Big expansive offwhite head, sticking everywhere. Strong flavor of belgian ale, solid malts, fruity notes (plum), sugar, candies, candy-fruit (orange). At first pungent in the mouth on a wine-sour note, much noticeable alcohol level, warming. Finish is perfumed, malty, sugary balanced by a relevant sour note and moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is unexpectedly bitter, dry, boozy. Excellent SBA.
