Gulden Draak Brewmaster

Gulden Draak Brewmaster

Our brewmaster, Jef Versele, crafted this exclusive Gulden Draak Brewmasters Edition as a tribute to his grandfather Jozef Van Steenberge and the 230th birthday of the brewery. His inspiration came from his numerous trips to the United States and his deepest respect for the craft beer culture. This exclusive Gulden Draak combines the technology and the craftsmenship of the traditional brewing process. By letting the beer mature on whiskey barrels it gives it a distinctive and gentle finish that you have never tasted before.

4.2 Florals and light lemon. Some coriander, clove. Dark golden pour with good head and lacing. Rich aroma with hints of whiskey barrel oak. Sweet finish with a hint of bitterness. Very well done, and nicely balanced. Tap at Porto Beer Fest.
3.4 Vintage 2014....Taste and aroma of malt, hops and yeast. A little bitter. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook and Instagram for more pictures and ratings.
3.5 Smell-weak, malt, faint Belgian tones. Foam-thin, caramel, Belgian yeast, weak sweetness, faint hops. Head is medium-sized, and white in color. Sticks. Appearance - brewer bottle cap, like it, label simple, but I will give overall bonus still as I think the cap is bottle specific. Red-orange amber, clear, no carbonation. From - snifter Price- 3,49 for 0,33 ml Taste- Caramel, Belgian notes, weak hops, weak sweetness. alcohol is somewhat hidden but luring in the background. Overall fine Belgian-styled beer, not the best, above average for sure. Could try again. Rounded up score a bit.
3.5 Bottle, 330 ml shared with Miro B and Max. Clear orange, small white head. Malty, caramel, sweet, bitterish finish. Medium bodied.
3.8 A beautiful , red-brown beer, a head is medium and blond. Arom has dried fruits, banana, apricot, also som oeverriped tones, raisin, sweetness of fruits. Taste has fruitness, riped fruits, hint of over riped banana, some spicyness maybe hint of drier barrel. Medium+ bodied. This is a "big" beer, tasteful.
Carbonatacion media.

3.4 Bottled 330ml (AIH147) Amber colour, small off-white head. Sweet fruits, apple and alcohol in the nose. Medium-bodied. Sweetish fruity flavour, even some caramel, backing alcohol, malty too. Barrel notes are not evident. Ok.

3.6 33cl Bottle @ Slainte, Salamanca, Spain. Hazy amber colour with a thin white head. Aroma is malt, sweet, yeast. Taste is malt, caramel, yeast, spices, hints of toffee, slightly boozy. Full body, average carbonation.
4.0 Brun med lyst beige skum som legger seg som ett slør. Aroma malt karamell humle Smak malt karamell humle modne epler. Kraftig og smaksrik med god smaksbalanse. Flaske delt med Rune og Finn.
3.3 Amberkleurig bier met een gebroken witte schuimkraag. Smaken van rood fruit, caramel, vanille, licht kruidig, vleugje zoethout. Beetje plakkerig in de mond. Alcoholisch warm.
3.1 Bottle at a tasting with RB boys. Bottled 4/2017. Med-full body, lots of honeyish and lightly caramelly malt character. Also assertive red/overripe apples. I do not like this very much. Lacks complexity and nuance, feels just overly alcoholic (not burning though, just applish, higher alcohols). Average.
3.5 Bottle at BBT 06/2021. Malty aroma and taste, spicy yeasty notes, light to medium sweet and bitter. Medium to full body, malty spicy bitter finish. Ok.
3.7 Tasted @ BBT 07/2021. Murky dark golden color with mesium white head. Aroma: dark fruits, spicy, cloves. Taste: barrel presence is almost not evident, red fruits, caramel, toffee, spice. Kinda generic.
3.8 Bottle from Rubin77. Deep golden color with white head. Aroma of candy, sweet malt, alcohol. Taste, sweet malt, candy, nuts. Warming alcohol.
3.6 Bottle at Bratislava beer tasting 07/2021. Vintage 2017. Pours hazy amber color, white head. Aroma of caramel, banana, Belgian yeast. Taste is medium sweet, lightly bitter, caramel, toffee, vanilla, chocolate.
3.7 A boozy, amber, malt forward and yeasty phenol driven beer. A bit of a unique mix. It is strong but not bubblegum-like yeast, more of a wine-like booziness, in mostly a good way. Albert heijn ams
4.3 Tasting at Det Bette Ølhus. Slightly hazy dark amber with a medium sized off white head. Aroma: Dark fruit, brown sugar, dark fruit and whisky. Taste: Sweet with modest bitterness, light sourness and a bit of alcohol. Very nice!
4.0 Bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy copper pour, one finger frothy off-white head, short lasting. Slight lacing on the glass. Sweet on the nose, malty, caramel and toffee, ripe fruits, herbal background. Medium to full body, average carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel and texture, mild fizzy, soft and chewy. Sweet malty taste balanced with mild bitterness in the background. Aroma of caramel and toffee, dried fruits, candy, molasses. Herbal, spicy notes, yeast. Earthy. Warming alcohol, subtle lingering burn on the tongue. Medium to long lasting finish, dry, boozy, lingering spiciness. Good one.
3.8 Gulden Draak The Brewmasters Edition Belgian Ale - Strong Dark 748415 Lukt: Malt, frukter, svak karamell, eik. Utseende: Lys brun. Skum/kullsyre: Tykt dekkende skum. 3.2 Bouteille d'or (recolte 02/ 2014): Quite light amber coloured, neither hazy nor cloudy, but lots of floaties visible, medium-sized creamy and stable off-white with a ruby sheen, moderate to solid sweet caramelly and fruity nose with mild traces of alcohol and of an even milder herbal bitterness, the aroma is hardly influenced by the announced "whisky barrels"; full bodied, solid sweet and both mildly bitter and sourish flavour; slightly lingering and a bit drier, but nevertheless sweet caramelly finish with a mild alcohol-burn and - finally - delicate traces of vanilla and wood. Not bad, but not my cup of tea...
2.7 Flaske: Meget sødlig duft. EN dimensionel, nærmest malt liqour. Smagen er igen ekstrem sød malt med en metallisk eftersmag. Virkelig for rå og ikke godt lavet. Minder meget om master brew.
3.6 Sweet and intense. Malty, dark honey, caramel, fudge, toffee, cream. I am missing the whisky-bartel touch. Really nice one.
4.3 Ocena wystawiona na podstawie wspomnień z degustacji w ramach uzupełnienia profilu.
3.7 Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Pours a clear deep amber/orange colour with a medium sized fast dissipating off-white head. Aromas of caramel, bread, spice, lighter notes of dry dark fruits, wood and whiskey. Taste is again similar to the aroma with added notes of vanilla, coconut with stronger notes of the dry dark fruit, wood and whiskey. Full bodied, average carbonation and a smooth oily mouthfeel. Slightly alcoholic finish. Nice sipper to enjoy once in a while in the winter months.
