3.2 From keg at a wedding reception in Amsterdam. From notes. Pronounced bitter toffee, hint of smoke, sweet malt, licorice, hint of spice. OK, but not a style i know well enough for a fair rating.

2.2 Te zoet bokbier met een goede schuimkraag. Fles komt uit Gulpener pakket met de gehele collectie.

3.2 Gerardus herfstbok.. decalias dus. Zeer kruidig, zoet, karamel, beetje donker fruit. Beetje dun en waterig.

3.4 As Gerardus Herfstbok, Dark ruby red, small to medium, aroma is malt, wort, caramel, sweet, taste is the same, sweet, slight bitter, caramel. Meh

3.6 Bottle at home. Slightly cloudy reddish amber, creamy offwhite head. Caramel malty, some dried fruits, dry, herbal: balance is fine, pleasant drink. Medium body and carbonation.

3.2 Bottle pours beautiful clear dark ruby-brown, with a tan head; limited retention. Soft aroma with caramel and roast malt. In the taste same: caramel, bit chocolate, roasted malts are clear; medium sweet and soft bitter. Firm carbo. OK bock, not bad at all, bit on the sweet side, and a bit flat; pity the nose is so weak. (Combined rates on 12/01/19 and 13/10/21)

3.8 Prima bockje a la Grolsch, dus zoet. Dat komt door de caramel. Gulpener voegt er ook nog een bittertje aan toe. 6,5% alcohol.

3.3 Fles 30cl thuis. Gebrande mout, niet te zoet, caramel, fruittonen. Wat bitter, drogig. (10-2012).

2.9 Zoete karamel smaak met een bittere afdronk, niet erg onderscheidend.

3.4 Reddish clear brown pour with a fast dissipating tan head. Yummy aroma of toffee pudding, roasted malts, some back licorice and dried fruits. Taste follows the nose with a light warming alcohol finish. Medium bodied. Very well brewed bock. My favorite of this year, for now.

3.3 An amber-red, dark beer with a slightly brown layer of foam. It has a sugar-sweet aroma which resembles apple-juice. But the tast is quite bitter, with a touch of licorice and a hint of chocolate. It has a nice bitter aftertaste. Een amber-rood, donker bier met een licht bruine kraag. Het fruitige aroma is suikerzoet en lijkt op die van appelsap. De smaak echter is drop-achtig met de hint van chocolade. Het heeft een aangenaam bittere nasmaak.

3.5 From tap in Strandpaviljoen Zuid, Bergen aan Zee, Netherlands. Pours ruby with a creamy off-white beige head. Taste is mild yet complex enough to make for a very nice sip. Malty flavors dominate, some fruit, very slight alcoholic note. Quite good!

3.3 0.3 l bottle from 'AH XL' (Maastricht), best before January 2019. Clear, ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of molasses, raisins and some caramel. Very sweet, malty, slightly fruity and a little roasty taste of molasses, caramel, raisins, plums and traces of chocolate, followed by a short, moderately bitter, sweet finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice, classic Bock!

3.2 Tap @ Café Bar 't Kroegje, Heiloo oktober 2017. (Bokkentocht 2017). Donkerbruin bokje met een robijnrode gloed er in en een gemiddeld koolzuur wat een licht bruine schuimkraag vormt. Je ruikt een vleugje karamel en rozijnen. Zoet bockbiertje en je proeft in de herfstfruit de eerder genoemde smaken en nog meer gedroogd fruit zoals subtiele hint van appelstroop. Dit alles eindigend met een gemiddelde bitter. Het is niet heel vlak maar alles bij elkaar mocht het wel een vollere warmere smaak hebben die je door de koude regenachtige kan lozen. Dat is best jammer nu blijft het net onder de middenmoot hangen.

3.5 Bottle at home. Light red, brown color, little beige head. An allright bock, but not very special.

2.7 Standard bock. Lightish brown appearance, thick tan head. Sweet malty aroma. Brown sugar, some caramel, licorice and a nice slick mouthfeel. Tried for the first time back in 2007.

3.8 Helder roodbruin, crèmekleurige kraag. In de geur veel overrijp fruit, drop. Smaak ook overrijp fruit, zwarte bessen, laurier, gebrande mout. Prima bock! Earlier Rating: 10/22/2011 Total Score: 3.1 Roodbruin bier met matige lichte kraag. Vrij zoet, beetje honing en kruiden. Bittere nasmaak.

Clear medium to dark amber color with a average to large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, sweet malt, caramelized malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, caramel, sweet malt, caramelized malt, malt bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20160708] 5-3-6-3-12 Earlier Rating: 2/2/2009 Total Score: 3.4 Bottle 30cl. @ [ Back2Bock Tasting ]. Clear medium amber red color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, nutty, brown sugar. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20081115]

3.6 2016 edition from draft @ De Zwarte Ruiter, next to the brewery (although I’ve been drinking this since about 1984, albeit not recently). Clear red-brown color. Dense off white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma’s: caramel malts, drop/licorice, light red fruit. Retronasal it’s sweetish, drop/licorice, some fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet, roasted/gebrand, light drop. Medium bodied.Finishes roasty, moderate bitter. Quite enjoyable bock, but different from how I remember it to be.

2.3 Helder kastanjebruin bier met een lichtbeige schuimkraag. Aroma van salmiak, drop, mout, noten, karamel. Smaak is licht zoet, licht bitter en lijkt zelfs een beetje zout. Vlak en weinig spannend. Earlier Rating: 10/10/2012 Total Score: 2.7 Fris en licht kruidig. Is niet zo zoet en vrij bitter voor een herfstbock. Weinig body.

2.9 Dit bier is overwegend slap. Je proeft wat tonen van gebrande mout, wellicht iets cacao, maar allemaal erg mager. Wel lekker zoetje. Pils met een smaakje. Slap, maar wat je proeft is wel lekker.

3.3 Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear amber to brown with a small white head and an aroma of syrup, toffee, cloves, cinnamon and sweet and roasted malts. The taste is medium sweet with some bitter and salty notes. Not bad for an industrial bock.

3.0 Bottle at home. Aroma is rich malt, caramel, touch of raisins, hint of liquorice. Flavour is sweet and moderate bitter. Body is medium. Not a bad Bock.

3.2 Bottle at home thanks to opa Piet. Clear chestnut brown with thin offwhite head. Sweet roasted malts, grain, syrup, old leaves, chestnut. Medium sweet and light bitter. Medium body, slick malty feel, average carbonation. Bittersweet syruppy finish. Earlier Rating: 12/21/2015 Total Score: 3 Fles. Beetje rogge beetje zoet, smaakt naar suikervervangers. 3.0 Bottled@PBF XI. Amber colour, small brown head. Aroma is toffee, some spices, herbs and mild sweet malts. Flavour is fruity, toffeeish, some mild toasted notes as well as some mild spices too. Earlier Rating: 12/29/2007 Total Score: 3 Bottled. Very deep amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is sweet malts, some alcohol and mild metal. Flavour is caramel malts and some mild notes of grass and spicyness. Quite watery feeling over it.

3.2 33cl bottle @PBF XI. Bbe Oktober 16. Poured dark brown color with a thin white head. Nutty, malty, bready aroma. Dark fruity, some almondy notes. Flavor has sweetness, caramel, toffee. Warming finish.

3.5 Flesje thuis gedronken.Donkerbruin helder bier met redelijk schuim. Aroma van karamel en mout. Smaak is zoet en fruitig bitter. Smaak ebt snel weg.
