4.2 How: Bottle Appearance: black, medium tan head Aroma: intense coffee, chocolate, nuts Palate: medium to full body, smooth carbonation
3.6 Bottle. Pitch black with densed, caffee latte like, medium head. Good lacing. Dark, roasted malts aroma - intensive coffee aroma also hints of dark chocolate and dark, dried fruits. In taste you can feel mainly coffee flavours, low acidity (coffee) and medium bitterness. Also dried fruits flavours noticable. Medium body, oily texture, dry, medium carbonation, finish is bitter with hints of dark chocolate and coffee. In general good coffee porter, may be not the perfect combination of coffee with dark beer, but still good.
3.9 Very nice coffee aroma with notes of chocolate. Medium to full body with coffee taste, chocolate and a long finish.
4.3 the aroma of coffee is amazing. medium-full body, coffee, chocolate taste with long finish
4.1 Un travolgente tornado di caffé. Gusto davvero travolgente. Bevuta piacevole e interessante.
3.8 Bottle. Very light roast coffee notes, brownies, a little tart. Lots of earthy notes, and is a nice drinkable beer. I could actually drink a few pints of this.
4.0 Norwegian ’coffee porter’ with coffee actually added. Beige foam, colour entirely black. Strong coffee aroma but complex, with lots of bitter chocolate, dark fruits and liquorice accent. Taste smoothly malty, creamy, almost the same mouthfeel as coffee with milk, sweetish and rich, chocolatey, spicy notes, finishing in a strong roasted, black coffee-like bitterness. More a coffee stout than a porter, if you ask me.
4.1 Tasting at Plonk. Very dark, medium body. Great coffee porter/imperial stout. Very on the ’coffee’ side of the spectrum.
3.8 Couleur noire, forte mousse beige cremeuse. Super nez de café torrefié grillé. Gout de café amer, grain de café, note de houblon, fin amere. Pas de carbonation. Super!
3.6 Bottle, batch 571. Very good aroma, big hit of coffe and roasted tones. Beer is quite light and drinkable, carbonization is low, and...it’s only 6,5% EBV, not so much for a porter. Bitterness is low, beer is semidry. Good stuff.
4.0 Bottle at havnelageret. Pours black, nose is roasted coffee, chocolate, vanilla, taste is bitter, dry roasted, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, toffee.
3.2 Bottle 50 cl. Hazy dark brown, with tan head. Dark toasted coffee, chocolate malty aroma. Sweet, bitter, herbal coffee aroma.
4.0 Bottled July 2011. Deep brown/black pour with a tight tan head. Toffee, dried fruit and coffee aroma. Taste is sweet, caramel, roasty, almost a sweet iced coffee rather than espresso bitterness. Really tasty - sweeter than expected but done so well
3.9 50cl bottle. Color is dark brown to dark. Head is thin and brownish. Body is medium and hipersmooth. Finish is short and soft. Some sweetness. Bitterness is medium. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, light liqueur, light toast.
4.1 50cl bottle, served in Snifter @ Homo Sibaris. Pours deep dark brown with medium beige creamy head (lasting). Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate and hints of coffee. Bitter taste because of the blend coffe + hops, balanced by the malts which give a chocolaty touch. Very nice coffee grains on the palate. Full body, perfect carbonation. So balanced and smooth.
3.9 Botella de 50 cl, adquirida en www.biirkonnen.com. Color marron oscuro. Sabor a cafe, malta tosta, ligeramente a regaliz.
3.7 Bottle 50cl. Small brown layer, quite opaque. Aroma is raisins, berries and coffee. Taste is coffee, woodwork and vanilla.
2.7 Bottle at Beer Hunters. I have rated this before but I noticed that my rating is not on RB so needs to drinked again. Dark brown color, small off-white head. Aroma has pure coffee, coffee beans. Medium-bodied. Flavor is cold coffee, some caramel and low bitterness. This is vintage 2012. Clearly thinner than back then and less aggressive coffee.
4.0 Old rating rerated 15.04.2014, 0,5l bottle @ Café Spesial: Nice light brown creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich, licorice, espresso, dark malts, toffee, chocolate pudding, dark sugar, soy sauce. Taste is slightly rich and sour-ish, espresso, dark malts, burnt caramel, licorice, chocolate, dark sugar, grass. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Very nice, but I wish they would stick to the recipe from the very first batch of this one. It was way better.
4.0 500ml bottle (0lhus Stockholm, Helsinki) Black, and I managed to get a gorgeous tight tan head. Woh, yup, that’s coffee. Hedonistically that’s good, it melds with the roast very well. Taste - wow! Lovely sweet roast, coffee accompanies that perfectly. Lactose sweetness not too sweet. Finish has a great roasty burntness, and the coffee again accompanies that so well. This is brilliant integration of coffee in beer, few have done it so well. Late finish does return coffee to the fore. This is wonderful.
3.5 Bottle 0.5l at Ölhus Stockholm, Helsinki. Brewed 03.04.12. Bottled 18.04.12. Colour is dark brown with slightly brownish white head. Aromas and flavours: Massive coffee, some sweetness and roasted malts. Pretty one-dimensional but enjoyable.
3.7 Considerando che non sono un grande amante dello stile, devo dire che questa è davvero l’evoluzione dello stesso. Veramente complimenti a questo birrificio, che ancora una volta sforna una birra meravigliosa.
3.5 2011 vintage. 500 ml bottle from Portale Birra, served in a snifter glass. Pitch black, no light passing through, with a nice, fluffy dark beige head. Good lacing. Still lots of coffee in the nose, mild dark fruits, black berries, toasted malts, liquorice. Same notes emerging in the mouth, with some added meaty and almost soy sauce qualities, slightly ashy and moderately sweet. Lingering coffee aftertaste. A bit more lively and dry than expected. Average carbonation, medium to full body and slightly oily texture. For a 3+ years bottle, it held great! I would love to try it fresh one time.
3.7 50 cl bottle. Deep dark hueless brown, firm creamy tan foam eventually rings. Aroma of coffee and chocolate malt. Dark roast bitter coffee bean taste, sweet smooth creamy milky dark chocolate, light earthy herbal hop. Softer carbonation, medium-full bodied, moderately hopped. Finishes dry and lightly bitter. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)
Svart. Lavt mokkafarget skum. Svak - men god kaffearoma. Myk munnølelse. Smaken har et behagelig kaffepreg. Har et klart frukt & bærpreg med hint av røyk. Mye sedimenter.
3.6 500 ml bottle. Dark pour. Light body. Decent overall coffee taste. Bit astringent. Ok coffee porter.
3.4 Bottle. Deep brown color, long lasting, light brown head. Coffee and roasted malt nose, hint of vanilla. Roasted malt taste, bitter chocolate, present coffee, earthy, hint of butter. Sweet with a dry finish. Medium body, soft carbonation.
3.8 Bottle, shared with Parksy and Grippitis. Very dark brown with a bubbly brown head that leaves nice lace. Aroma is bitter baker’s chocolate and roasted coffee. Nice marriage of hard roast and fresh espresso bean on the palate. Packs a nice flavour punch for the ABV. Very enjoyable.
