HaandBryggeriet Haandbakk

HaandBryggeriet Haandbakk

This beer was brewed in sept. 06 and has since then
been aged in oak barrels until bottling on March 22. 2008.
The beer is blended for roundness but is still very sour and a little bit acetic. We think our first attempt has been a great success and we will definitely try this again.
8.5% alc. 20 ibu. Serve at 8-12C

3.4 500ml bottle. Dark burgundy with a foamy beige head. Flavors are lightly roasted cereals, molasses and berries with vinous notes. Intense lactic acidity. Medium body, soft to moderate carbonation, oily texture.
3.8 Draft @ Van Moll, Eindhoven. Cloudy chestnut colour, light beige foamy head. Classic and well done flanders red ale notes like sour cherries, berries, herbal, clove, caramel: I prefer it a bit more sweet. Medium body and medium-high carbonation.
4.0 This brew is truly strange, and I mean that in a nice way. I guess the best way to describe this is that it's like a Flanders Red expect that it has HaandBryggeriet's Scandinavian charm. So I guess you could call this a Nordic Red? This rust-colored beer has a healthy dose of barrel character. There's lots of earthy, leathery oak funk. The acidity is strong and vinegar-like. While there is some caramel malt and tannic vanilla sweetness, you get more of the funky barnyard bacteria, smoky barrel char, and fruity sourness. This is a highly nuanced Sour beer and there's not anything that's quite like it.
3.6 Bottle. A- Vinegar, cherry, oak, funk, mild vanilla. A- Dark red color, clear liquid, minimal head. T- Tart, sour, funky, balsamic vinegar, cherry, oak, P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, tart finish. O- This bottle was over 6 years old! Not sure if that helped it or not. Lots of serious tartness and funk from the oak barrels. Vinegar notes are a bit heavy. Really good but fairly aggressive flavors.
3.8 Bottle thanks to Stuu666. Pours brown with no head. Aromas of basamic funk, red wine, acetic notes. Taste is light sour, more balsamic, sourness creeps up down the glass. Dry, woody, sour finish, light cidery hint. It's a bit good this is.
4.6 Bottle from Dyspensa in Radom. Alez kwasne piwo. Niesamowity aromat juz po zdjeciu kapsla. Pachnie octem jablkowo-winnym. W smaku sos beszamelowy zalany a wlasciwie utopiony w occie balsamicznym, ocet winny troche wisniowej zadziornej kwaskowosci. Caly czas gryzie i zakwasza gardlo. Extremalne i dla wielu nie do przelkniecia. SUPER sour red and brown Ale. zblizony do Rodenbach vintage troche tez do dobrych wytrawnych win wloskich, zwlaszcza sycylijskich. Hardcore Sour I’m lovin it.
3.9 Bottle @ home, cellared 2,5 years. Pours a dark ruby red color and a minimal head. Aroma of ripe dark fruits, acetone, cherries, oak, caramel. Taste is tart, quite acidic with some acetone. Brettanomyces, vanilla, oak, cherries, some sweet caramel, raisins and ripe red fruits. Finish is very dry with lingering oak, red grape tannins and cherry. Very nice.
3.9 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer.
3.8 Bottle - 500ml. Dark brown body with low carbonation and a fading, off-white bubbly head. Complex, robust, malty/hoppy aroma with oaky, fruity, and spicy hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Its sharp sour taste carries oaky, brett, and wild berries notes. Ends with a long sour finish. Well done.
3.4 Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Very dark brown-ruby red in colour with a vanishing head of foam. It has a sour cherry flavour with dried fruit notes and oak on the sour finish. Pretty good.
3.5 Dark, dark amber/ruby. Sparse head. Aroma intensity 3.5/5. Wild yeast, acacia and tomato aroma, notes of thyme and barbecue. Heavy sour. Medium body. Long sour finish
3.9 Bottle. Red brown pour. Aroma of red fruit, tart, oak, berries and mild vanilla. Flavor of sour red fruit, oak, vanilla and a nice sour fruity finish. Very good.
3.9 Bottle at salthorse. Pours deep brown, nose is funky, balsamic, oak, toffee, taste is chewy toffee, sour, berries, wood.
3.8 dark brown, hazy, minimal off-white foam; cherry, acidic, vinous aroma, medium+ sourness, light sweetness and bitterness; medium+ body, average- carbonation, long dry finish; Overall: great taste, nice aroma, very good
3.4 Brown colors with hint of ruby and purple when held to the light. Diminished tan head. Malt and rich dark fruit in the aromas. Hints of alcohol and lacquer throw things off slightly. Initial paint thinner noted in the front. Light fruit and oak slide in later, but it still has the initial shock of sucking on a siphon tube and catching some crap in the mouth. Some cherry and oak flavor come in late. Too much distraction from the early, crude alcohols. 4/10
3.7 Bottle. Sensoric. Very deep brown/reddish with thin, almost none, light brown head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma is intense acetic, vinous with fruits - cherries notes. The unpleasant acetic notes are well hidden by vinous character and lightly malty profile. Taste is moderatly sour and dry. The sourness is quite noticable from the beginning in the end the intensity makes it slightly warming. Light body, watery texture, lively carbonation, finish is dry and sour.
4.2 Traditional Norwegian Oak Aged Ale Alkohol: 8% obj. Wspaniała gęstość i wielowymiarowość. Alkohol nie jest nachalny. Bardzo dobre! Wysycenie: Średnie. Podsumowanie: Genialne piwo! Wspaniale zbalansowane, wielowymiarowe. Leżakowanie w dębowych beczkach nadało trunkowi charakteru mokrego drewna i minimalnej waniliny. W aromacie stajenne, wiejskie nuty podkreślają charakter trunku. Takich piw życzyłbym sobie więcej.
2.8 Pours like a cola, dark brown with a head that fades away in seconds. There’s a fair amount of sweetness in both the aroma and flavour. Flavour also has some balsamic vinegar sweet and sour notes. Woody dryness in the finish.
3.7 Pours a deep, earthy red with almost now head. It has a strong aroma of wine and earth with some funk and sourness. The flavor is slightly sweet wine and fruit with a long, sour aftertaste over a medium body.
Aucune surprise, bref.
3.8 On tap at Novare Res Portland, me. Pours ruby hued, quick foam cream hued head that leaves zero lacing. Some cherries, plums. Medium body with an acidic finish. Hope I can find my car after this.
3.6 Shared 16.9 oz. bottle. Pours an opaque amber/burgundy with a small beige head. Aroma is sour and vinous. Taste is red wine, wood, and sour dark fruits. It’s extremely tart and acetic, but has some sweetness to balance things out. I wasn’t sure what to make of it at first, but after sipping for some time, I found it to be most agreeable.
2.8 Aroma: sweet, fruity and tart; Appearance: very dark ruby red with thin head that dissipates quickly; Taste: extremely tart that finishes with sourness; a bit overwhelming; Palate: medium body with long, tart/sour finish; Overall: pretty good but too tart for me. Would not buy again.
4.7 Bottle. This is a great beer. Sharp, tart, and flavorful. Very sour. Among the better sour red/brown beers around. No complaints.
4.1 dark brown pour some dark tan head. Aroma char, licorice, blackberries and cream. Tastes caramel, coffee, licorice dense flavors on top of each other. lots of carb
4.1 13-FEB-2016, bottle @home, brought by Morten. Hazy Brown with a lasting, low, off-white head. Wood, cherry, red wine. Coca Cola, bread. Very very tart. Very very nice.
3.7 0.5 bottle. Hazy, dark brown color and a small, off-white head. Aroma is vinous, acetic, yeasty, sour. Taste is obviously sour, once again acetic, a tad fruity. A medium body, a slick texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is even sourer than the rest, introduces strong notes of wood. Overall the beer is definitely too sour to be drinkable; however, I do enjoy feisty brews with flavors full of character. This one certainly falls into this category without offending.
3.3 bottle. deep mahogany red with minimal head. low carbonation. very tart with cranberry and lots of oak. rather thin body. i love sours, but this borders on too sour. interesting, but not among the best i’ve had of the style.
