HaandBryggeriet Pale Ale

HaandBryggeriet Pale Ale

Pale Ale - is a pale, refreshing and aromatic beer with a fine malt profile from our English special malts. Generous use of fresh hops renders a zesty and delightful hoppy aroma and flavour. To be served at 8-10 degrees C. Bottle conditioned - unfiltered and unpasteurised, no artificial carbonation. (Not to be confused with the stronger Haandbryggeriet India Pale Ale.) 2.5 50cl. Bottle. Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly fruity, wet grain, yeast, hay, herbs, caramel, grass, hints of dried fruits. Taste is slightly dry, hay, wet grain, hops, caramel, grass, herbs, yeast, dough. Slightly watery mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Fair enough, far from a favourite.
2.7 Juniper bitterness? Besides that not so many characteristics. Serious foam! And deep amber colour!
3.5 Tap@Tap10, Copenhagen - Amber pour with white head. Fruity and malty with some nice citrus and tropical fruity notes, herbal piney hoppy notes, hoppy bitter finish.
3.4 Bottle @ NSB train from Oslo to Bergen ("Bergensbanen") as Haandbryggeriet Dresin (old rating of Haandbryggeriet Pale Ale was probably a bad bottle anyway, so I have chosen to delete this 2010 rating). Pours a slightly hazy golden-hued amber body with a medium white head. Nose is citrus, wet grass, pine, red fruits and hints of bread crust, caramel and nuts. Taste is pine, citric peel, grapefruit, apricot and hints of resin, wet grass, caramel and red fruits. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Enjoyable APA for sure, with a fair amount of complexity and bitterness alike. Goes well enough on a lengthy train journey, but I find myself wishing for an NSB-commisioned imperial stout to go as a slow sipper with the beautiful scenic landscapes shifting outside. Oh well, maybe in 10 years or so: who knows? :-)
3.5 Draught at Tap 10. Hazy, golden amber colour with a thin, white head. Fruity aroma with citrus fruits and caramel malts, floral hops. Slightly toasted notes. Taste is bitter. Medium body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with citrus fruits and caramel malts. Nice APA.
2.5 Bottle shared with JMD and KH on NSB train from Voss to Finse 07.05.16. Cloudy orange. Some beige head. Aroma of pine, resin and oranges. Taste of bitter oranges, grapefruit, pine, resin and a hint of toffee. Earthy throughout. Earlier Rating: 7/31/2015 Total Score: 3.9 From bottle on board Fridtjofen 31.07.15. Cloudy orange. Foamy and persistent off-white head and lacing. Aroma of mango, papaya, other tropical fruits, citrus and pine shoots. Similar taste, balanced with malt and good bitterness of pine and grapefruit. Good!
3.6 Deep golden with a white head - Good hoppy aroma - Malt body with a hop profile that is fruity and has a good bitterness - The hops and bitterness goes into the finish - This was good
3.5 Lukt: Citrus, krydder og karamell. Utseende: Mørk gulbrun honning farge. Skum/kullsyre: Dekkende skum.
3.5 Bottle on train from Kristiansand to Sandnes. Pours hazy dark golden with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma is malty with piney hops. Taste is light sweet toffee, with a good dry piney finish, good beer for a train journey. Earlier Rating: 3/31/2009 Total Score: 2.7 500 ml bottle, batch 192. Pours clear amber with a small off white head. Hoppy aroma with citrus presence. Tasdte of grass and flowers. Ends dry and hoppy
3.3 Orangey colour with thin head. Biscuity, malty aroma and taste. Light hop bitterness. Perhaps some peachy sweetness in the finish.
3.6 50 cl, bottle conditioned. batch #907, best before 09/16 so it’s reasonably fresh. Slightly hazy, dark orange golden, a lot of rolling carbonation, thin off-white head. Aroma is very fruity and hoppy, a hint of citrus and pine needles, not much malt aroma. Mouthfeel is dry, flavours are piny and citrusy hops. Again, I don’t find much malt notes to this. It’s a hoppy pale ale, American West Coast style in my opinion.
3.3 50 cl bottle@Olso hotelroom in small glass@approx 10 degrees C. Pours cloudy light brown with off white head with sufficeint retention. Fruity aroma, citrus and a little pine dominating the maltiness, which is also there. Very well balanced and complex hop bitter taste - more APA than anything else. More citrus, more spice and the malt also finally manifesting itself as it warms up a little. Texture and mouthfeel a little watery, but not bad for a ABV of only 4,5% - lots of taste and good balance.
3.5 Flaske fra nærbutikken. Gylden , disig farge. Moderat karbonert med enorm varig skumtopp. Smaket malt, korn, gress, sitrus ,furunål og tropisk frukt. En fornøyelig butikkøl
2.9 Pours light amber, loads of foam that becomes thinner quite soon but lingers on quite long. Aroma is really metallic and plastic at first, not really nice.Taste is hoppy, light body, bitter hops. Not too special, works in sauna OK. Becomes nicer once it warms.
3.2 Nice copper color with medium head. The finish is slightly sour. American style pale ale that is lacking a little something that I can't put my finger on.
3.4 Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Stas. Pours yellow to orange with a nice head, aroma of fruits, caramel, marmalade, flavor of fruits, carambola, oxidation, medium bodied.
3.4 How: Bottle Appearance: cloudy golden color, medium to small white head. Aroma: fresh fruits, citrus, grassy, caramel. Palate: medium to light body, average carbonation.
3.9 Veldig godt øl. Fantastisk god og frisk smak. Lett-drukkent og leskende. Anbefales!
3.0 Light golden brown. Cloudy. Long white head. Not to much going on in the nose.Fruity but with a thin body.Weakly bitter and fresh finish. Batch 825.Bottle. BB : 12.12.15
3.6 From bottle. Cloudy amber colour. Well balanced hops. Pleasant citrus acidity. Very pleasant.
2.3 Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Stas. Hazy deep gold. Aroma of stale malt and hops, yeast and overripe fruits. Flavor has a bit of sweetness, graininess, stale malt, stale hops, yeast and some fruitiness. Light to medium-bodied, over-carbonated. Seems too old.
3.2 pours a beige head on an amber body. light bubblegum aromas on top of light hops and indeed some citrus. pleasant palate and not bad but not exceptional in any aspect.
3.4 Smakt hjemme I ølglass. Tydelig ufiltrert utseende. Fruktig lukt og smak. Flott bitterhet.
God humlepreg i smak. Bitter avslutning. Medium fylde.
2.7 Hazy amber with white head. Good lacing. Aroma is fruity yeast, tea, ripe apples and some boiled vegetables. Faulty bottle? Nice and fruity palate. Aftertaste is citrus, green hops and some caramel in the end. Overall: Bottled 20.06.14. Weird to see so many different experiences.
3.5 Bottle. Light hops and citrus aroma. Dark, golden colour. Tall, brown white head. Slightly prune. Low carbonation. Watery and not too interesting.
3.5 Amber with fluffy off-white head. Fruity with lemon and grapefruit and light apricot. Caramel malt and herbal notes. Light sweet with bitter finish that slowly builds. Medium bodied. Decent ale with good aroma, doesn't feel like 4.5 abv and not really dry. Not really that special though.
