This beer is a robust porter with lots of dark malts of various kinds with a smooth taste and a nice fruitiness from the hops and a dryish aftertaste that lingers. 34 IBU’s

3.6500ml bottle ["Norse Porter" batch 261]. Gusher. Black with huge frothy beige head. Aroma has cocoa, nougat, dark chocolate, coffee, leather. Taste starts with dark fruit (blueberry), has dark bread, chocolate, a yeasty overtone. Some grain in the otherwise chocolate dominated aftertaste. Rich, complex, diversified.
3.4Black as night. Small tan head. Smoky toasted and vanilla aromas. Some oak magic with a smoky taste. Not as full flavored as I expected. Baking cocoa finish? woody aftertaste.
4.42009 Vintage 50 cl. bottle shared @ New Years Eve @ friend’s house – courtesy of me – purchased @ Alvinne – chilled on the balcony instead of the fridge – served in wine glasses: pours a black to extremely dark brown (lovely colour) with a serious big coffee head – smells very thick, dark chocolate malts, sweet, touch milk chocolate, thick dark fruits, hint molasses, roasted malts & dark bread – taste-wise everyone immediately proclaimed this a smoked beer, I understand where they are coming from, the roast on this one goes definitely into smoked categories especially compared with their Norwegian Wood, thick chocolate malts, love thickness & darkness of the malts of this one, almost dark bread like, lots of mellow chocolate, smoked/roasted malts, touch smoked juniper, dark fruits & hint of maple, somewhat sweet in a non-sugary & non-syrup way – serious malt-based body, this certainly doesn’t feel like a 6 % beer, medium to soft carb, nice one
3.7Bottle:   Nearly black, moreso an extremely dark brown, large frothy dark beige head, moderate lacing.
Roasty nose, a little lactic note.   Reminds me of an English Style Robust Porter.   Mmmmm, very roasty,
nice maltiness in the background, a little lactic bite but also some apple skin like sweetness.   A little dry,
clean, lingering roasted malts.   Little bit of chocolate and malted milk balls ride in the background.
Good body and mouthfeel, a little viscous even.   This is quite nice.   Roasty, a little tart, but also some
sweetness, with some pale fruit skin, and chocolate to round it out.   Good.
4.3Dark brown body with fiirm, soapy tan, almost purple head. Intrueging combination of aromas with dark, bready and leathery malts together with fresher, herbal hops. Chocolate, too. Light tintling carbonation, really nice full bodied. This extends to the taste that is rich and with a pleasent lingering medium bitterness. Remains very easily drinkable though - really classy achievement especially considering the moderate ABV level. Very well executed beer and just plain tasty! (50cl bottle)
4.0Bottle shared with evanlarkin. Very dark and clear maroon, brown edge head. Aroma of coffee grounds, vanilla, toffee. Taste is big vanilla, coffee, Hershey’s syrup. Medium body. Nice stuff.
3.7500ml Bottle - Dark brown, almost black, with a tan head. Roasted malt, plain chocolate and coffee in the aroma. Rich and chocolatey taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and marshmallows.
2.5I think this beer is old, which it says on the bottle. It smells a little off. Some heft, but also some funkiness. Still looks great though. Flavor is sweet and chocolaty, but also a bit sugary alcohol, maybe like a cough drop. Huge disappointment after the stout I had yesterday.
4.1Tap, very dark pour, with lots of stouty qualities very think noise with a nice tan head, the taste is very chocolatey and very refined
3.8On tap at the bishops arms in Copenhagen. Very dark brown/black with large dark tan head. Huge roasty malt aroma and flavour with a slightly bitter finish. Very good.
3.8Wonderful aroma that has everything. Deep, dark, roasted, those lower regiments of taste. Beautiful and black appearance with a taste that last forever. Gift from my friend Joel who got it at De Bierkoning.
3.850 cl bottle as ”Norse Porter”, from Vinmonopolet. Rated on 31.7.2009 @ Utsjoki
This one started coming through the cap as a foam when travelling from Kirkenes to Utsjoki. Lots of foam came also when the cap was opened and beer was poured to a glass. Aroma had liquorice, roasted malt and some caramel. Flavour had lots of liquorice, some roastiness and hints of coffee & sweetish chocolate. I liked the liquorice here and disliked the amount of CO2 and foam.
2.5Bottle @ home that was a gusher. Deep black appearance with a dark brown head. Extremely roasty, charred, slightly nutty, dark malty nose with some booze. Deep, charred, roasty, burnt, dark malty flavor with hints of chocolate, espresso, and black char. Another Haand that doesn’t impress me.
Rundum gelungen. 12/12/11/13/11/12
3.3Bottle. Pours a black beer with a light brown head. The aroma malt, roasted, cold coffee and notes of sweetness. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness. Overall an average to good beer.
3.2pours black with a crazy amount of carbonation which quickly grew big. watch out. I’m starting to notice a trend with these beers. aroma is dark fruits and chocolate, also some roastiness. carbonation is intense in the mouth. makes it hard tasting the beer. taste is chocolate malts and dark fruits. slightly metallic taste as well. might be a solid porter but the carbonation definitely losing it some points.
3.5Dark brown pour with dark brown head. Creamy rich chocolate cocoa. Okay, not great.
3.5Black with a big and lasting tan head. Aroma of fruit, roasted malt, chocolate and a hint of spice. Sweet and full bodied flavour of dried fruit, licorice, chocolate with a touch of hard roasted charcoal character in the finish
3.3Bottle @ Odense tasting. Dark brown body with a huge brown head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, coffee. Flavor is chocolate, some kind of fruit and coffee.
3.6Pours black with a light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee and liquorish. Flavour is roasted malt, ash, coffee and liquorish.
3.8Bottle 50 cl from www.erzbierschof.ch. Porter all black, huge foam beige ochre, sticking to the glass. Scents of coffee, expresso, chocolate. The taste is soft-malted, bitter of roasting, lively with chocolate, toffy and molasses. The beer is supple, but robust coffee, hints of mulberry, vanilla and leather. The hop is fruity, the finale more dry, but rich, greedy and expresso. A most.
3.2Norse Porter. Super carbed gusher. Seems like others have had this problem as well so I won’t chalk it up to infection. Dark brown with lots of fizzy light tan head. Looks infected. Smells infected. Fruit skins and a mild tartness in the nose, old cardboard. Acidic paper flavor, meh. Mildly smoky.
3.1Bottle @ Odense Tasting , March, 2011. Pours black with a frothy and spritzy beige head. Nose is roast - a bit of coffee and lots of chocolate. Overcarbonated. Flavor is fruit, chocolate and ashtray. Medium bodied.
3.8Bottle at Laundromat, labeled as Norse Porter. Dark brown almost black, big light brown head. Like several bottles from Haandbryggeriet the one we had suffered from too much carbonation in the bottle. Other than this it’s a very nice beer. Aroma is coffee, some licorice and malts. Taste is likewise, with some sweet stuff setting in before a good dry bitter end.
3.8Bottle @ Laundromat - shared with Daje. Dark with a espresso head. Aroma of coffee, yeast, malts and nuts. Taste of coffee and much good sweetness. Finish has a power hoppy finish.I feel i miss some balance, but the beer is absolutely great.
3.4Bought as Norse Porter: Black with big beautiful rich light-brown foam. Cool detained nose with cold coffee as the predominant impression. Taste: Coffee, but clearer and warmer than in the nose, roasted tones, little vinegar, medium bitterness. Mouth Feeling: Excessive carbonation. The effect is fresh, perhaps too fresh compared to the gravity of the beer.
4.0Solid brew! The pour was rather difficult, foam, foam, foam! It was almost as if as soon as oxygen hit the beer, it would burst into foam. After letting it settle for a bit, it was fantastic! Nice head retention, smoked cherry flavor, very smooth drinking brew. Would drink again.

Opaque black beer. Short lived chocolate coloured head. Semi dry palate. Light and mildy fruity porter. Chocolate undertone. A little carbonated bite at the end. Standard but decent.
4.0Bottled 50cl. It pours a pitch black beer with a tall beige head. Smoky leathery nose. Beautiful dark malt profile. Delicate and deeply delicious.
3.3Very dark brown pour with thick tan head. Aroma of chocolate, mild coffee, some fruits. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, light fruit. Light lactose. Not sure if I’m getting a sourness like the other reviews are getting, but there’s something different here. Mouthfeel is a bit chalky. Lots of carbonation. Pretty good but not knocking me over.
