AROMA: nice malt, some sweetness, brown sugar, dried stonefruit or dates, some herbalness, slight mediciney, leather, shoe polish
APPEARANCE: brownish amber, clear, a bit opaque, off white head with residual film,
TASTE: malt, grainy wort, slightly sweet, figs, fresh wheat/barley, some roast and toast, easy hops and bitterness, touches of caramel/chocolate
PALATE: lighter in feel than the color, medium-ish body, quickly stringent upfront, creamy fluid center, bit earthy with light dryness inside cheeks on the finish
OVERALL: pretty good beer. really nice nose, not super complex in flavors but well placed and balanced, a bit wishy washy in the middle but solid finish. Overall, a very good beer that is both interesting and quite drinkable.
Intro- 330ml capped dark glass bottle, best before 07/2022, served fridge cold into a stein
Appearance- almost ruby copper colour, crystal clear, micro streams of carbonation, a nice frothy off white head
Aroma- malty, lighter side of the dark breads, some bitterness, some very light caramel
Taste- malty, bready, medium sweet, low bitter
Palate- medium bodied, medium low bitter with longer sweet malt
Overall- not a style I drink a lot of, but a very tasty marzen
Bottle. Amber-ish golden pour. Aroma of grainy malt, grassy bitters, lager yeast, herbs and caramel. Taste has creamy bitter herbs, grainy malt, grassy bitters, caramel, lager yeast and a bitter herbal finish. Nice.
Birra dal colore ramato chiaro sormontata da una bianca schiuma abbastanza persistente. Al naso è seducente con note lievemente fruttate, caramello, cereali tostati, lievito e frutta secca. In bocca è dolce con note di caramello biscotto lievi tostature che ci accompagnano per tutta la bevuta. Finale in cui si percepisce appenaun amaro erbaceo.

The looks of the beer are nice. It is a clear beer, with a nice amber colour and a lovely frothy white layer of foam. Foam retention is garage but a nice thick drape is left on the beer. Looks good.
The beer has a nice aroma. The malts are pretty prominent. They give some biscuity aromas, but mainly some caramel and green. Hops give some nice herbal notes, but also some zest. There is a nice touch of lemon, quite fresh. The freshness of the hops goes well together with the crisp malts. Yeast gives some slight spicy notes. Quite nice!
The taste of the beer is also quite nice. Bitter hops, sweet malts and quite an acidity from the malts in a citrus note. Quite nice! Well balanced.
The mouthfeel is also quite nice. Medium body, smooth texture and a nice medium carbonation. The finish of the beer has a nice hoppy note, with quite a citrus note. All in all, a surprisingly fresh Märzen/Oktoberfest Bier. Lovely.
0,5 bottle. A klasszikus márkahű kinézet csatos üvegben és a címke is hagyományos. Szép bronzvörös színe van, habja is érdekes kicsit capuccino színű, nem túl tartós, de vékonyan megmarad. Nagyon finom illata van. Mazsolás, gyümölcsös, malátás, nyalókás :) Ír vörös ale-hez hasonló az íze, annyira nem testes, de épp nem is vizes. Karamelles, cukros , és sajnos kicsit savanykás ízvilág. Egyébként finom, jó sszomjoltó. Illata ahogy melegszik még jobb, konyakos, gyümölcsös, érdekes.

The classic branded look in buckled glass and the label are also traditional. It has a nice bronze red color, its foam is also an interesting little cappuccino color, it is not very durable, but it remains thin. It smells very delicate. Raisins, fruity, malt, lollipop :) It tastes like Irish red ale, not so full-bodied, but not wet. Caramel, sugary, and unfortunately a bit sour taste. Otherwise delicious, good sedative. It smells even better as it warms up, cognacy, fruity, interesting.
Nice clear copper color with a foamy head. Aroma grainy with light toast and caramel notes. Taste is light with caramel notes
Yes, this is better than the Paulaner, with a darker, more cloudy appearance and a more respectable, creamy off-white head. The aroma of caramel and again that juicy-fruit touch, almost like a Weizen. Flavour is still lacking, a bit more of a body, and overall another overrated beer - which certainly does not explain the wonders of Oktoberfest.

Bottle from CW online. It pours clear brown with a thick, dense beige head. The aroma is earthy, brown bread, cereal, nutty, rivita, dried leaves and dusty spice. The taste is crisp, dry, prickly, toasty, some bitterness, earthy, wood, rivita, dull toffee, grassy, herbal accents, brown bread, dusty vibes and nutty action with a drying, toasty finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Decent stuff.
Optisch zeigt sich ein sehr klassisches Märzen. Sattes dunkles klares Bernstein mit etwas helleren Reflexen. Die weiße bis cremefarbene, feinporige Schaumkrone macht einen wässerigen und nicht sonderlich gut haltbaren Einduck.
Im Duft süßlich karamellig, aber auch blumig mit einem Hauch Frische und zarten Gewürznoten.
Der Antrunk kommt sehr angenehm, sanft spritzig, frisch, kaum malzig - fast langweilig. Im Mittelteil leicht röstig, fast rauchig und hat etwas von dunklem Karamell und dunkler Brotrinde. Die würzigen Aromen sind zwar vorhanden, kommen aber nicht so gut durch. Dazu vernimmt man eine deutliche trockene Herbe. Die leicht aufschäumende Rezenz wirkt zwar nicht störend, hemmt aber doch ein wenig Mundgefühl und Süffigkeit.
Im Abgang stark abfallend. Ganz kurze karamellige Röstmalzaromatik, die zu schnell verschwindet. Danach kurz süß-säuerlich - die Rezenz baut sich ab. Und danach... nicht mehr viel. Sehr zarte trockene Hopfenaromatik.
Color ámbar transparente con espuma media blanquecina de retención media y residuo escaso. Aroma a malta tostada, caramelo y hierba seca con notas a hierbas aromáticas suaves y ligera tierra. Sabor a hierba seca, lúpulo alemán, malta tostada y pan integral con notas a caramelo y madera. Dulzor y alcohol medios y amargor medio-ligero con regusto medio. Textura semi-oleosa, cuerpo medio y carbonatación medio-ligera.

Oktoberfestbier by this classic German beer brand, produced by Paulaner since 1998; it is one of the six beers officially used for the actual Oktoberfest so obtaining a bottle of this spares me the trip to Munich, I guess… Pale greyish white, medium thick, stable head, opening but leaving a network of flat ‘islands’ over the surface; crystal clear orange-golden robe with pale orangey glow. Aroma of soggy bread crust, rusk, mown lawn, cooked grains or even freshly ironed cotton cloth (pasteurization very much recognizable), rainwater, dried chamomile, peanut skin. Malt-fruity onset, no esters and none expected, medium carbonation adding a very slight sourish touch; hard-caramelly and bread-crusty maltiness, grainy with a bitterish toasted tail, accentuating a brief but effective ‘passage’ of floral and somewhat grassy hop bitterness. Ends dry and very quenching; indeed a lighter version of traditional Märzen and in that sense as typical for an Oktoberfestbier as it gets – this is the real thing if Oktoberfestbier is the style you want to explore. Crisp, smooth, easily drinkable and well-balanced, just too bad for the pasteurization which always bothers me a bit in this type of beers.
Bottle to mark Oktoberfest. Pours amber body off white lacing. Aroma of malt loaf. Taste is medium sweet with caramelised malts dominant but some spicy hop to the bitter finish. Palate is medium to light in body, reasonably smooth in the transition, average carbonation, and a spicy bitter finish that may reflect the yeast. I know that Marzen is more my kind of German beer and this is a good example without ever hinting at a "wow" factor. In passing I don't see too many rave reviews from Germany, although it find fans in America. Some however in the Pays Bas in particular don't like it! It is good enough for me. 29/10/22 still good enough
Bottle from Orterer, bought during Oktoberfest this year. Dark golden amber filtered; moderate head. Spicy traditional hops on the nose with some hints of syrup/caramel. Lightly sweet, decently balanced bitterness, well rounded and pretty soft compared to some other Munich Oktoberfest beers. Not exciting but definitely pretty drinkable.
Smell is toffee and caramel. Amber in color. Taste is malty, caramel, toffee, nutty.
330 mL bottle. Clear deep amber. Smells of some caramel and toasted bread. A little spicy hops. Tastes of stronger spicy hops and caramel malt. A little sweet. Medium body. It's good, but not my favorite.
Nice amber color with a thin white head. Tasty and refreshing with medium body, medium carbonation, medium sweetness and light bitterness. Well balanced, well made, more than OK, but nothing out of this world, just a good solid and reliable German märzen.

[from recent notes] 11.2oz bottle from Arrow - Mason. Dated 04.22. Toasty malt, light earthy, caramel. Moderate sweet, light bitter. Light to medium body, crisp light carbonation. Lightly slick. Little musty. Not bad nor out of the box, just a solid german oktoberfest.
Optisch dunkles Kupfer, im Trunk Karamell, leicht metallisch, hinten etwas platt - okay.

Old rating from 11-03-16 - 500ml flip top bottle brought from Kris Wines in Islington, London. Pours a clear amber colour with a thick off white head which leaves lacing. Aromas of amber malt, honey & caramel. Tastes is dry, nutty, and savoury with flavours of honey, bread & caramel leading to nice bittersweet hopped tail. Overall this is a great beer & reminds me I need a return visit to Munich!
