3.8 Clear/hazy yellow/golden beer with a slight white head. Medium/heavy aroma; taste starts medium sweet and ends slightly bitter and dry. Caramel, fruit, tropical fruit, hops and citrus. 8/3/8/4
3.9 On tap at the brewery. Hazy golden. Heavy lacing white head. Dank, pine, and grain. Slightly sweet and medium bitter. Fairly full bodied.
3.6 Pale copper pour with a thin soapy white head .... aroma of rye, caramel malt, light bitter hops, pine, orange and light grapefruit with some juicy chewy caramel malts ..... taste is of light bitter hops, caramel malts, pine, orange and grapefruit.... little rindy and spicy grainy rye ..... almost had a berry like/juicy fruit flavor ... sessionable with some warming abv
4.5 3oz on tap @ Hair of the Dog. Pours hazy golden with a medium head. Aroma is sweet malts with fresh grassy hops. Flavor is sweet malts, loads of fresh grassy hops, some pine. Super fresh and tasty.
3.6 Taster at brewery. Hazy, bright golden, soft soapy head. Aroma seems subdued (this after some high octane strong ales), malty, hint of hops. Taste brings the bitterness, not big and in your face, but appropriate for the style. Bitterness lingers on the palate, and dries out a bit too. Sneaky for a DIPA, but not high in ABV either. Conundrum.
3.6 Very slightly hazy golden under a thick white head. Nice earthy floral hop resinous nose with a bit of pine. Bitter earthy piney flavor that’s got a strong pale malt base with a lingering earthy kiss.
3.6 From Jul 2008 Spring 2008 A nice hazy to cloudy light orange colour, the foam is almost non existant but it does leave some lacing on the side of my glass. Big hoppy nose with grapefruit and some pine and there's some sweetness here as well. Could be fruit, could be caramel. The taste is strange but good. There's an earthy malt flavour along with some grapefruit, tangerine, and pine that adds some bitterness but overall, the taste is far from bitter. I'd say the earthiness takes center stage. It has a medium mouthfeel, the carbonation is light to just below medium, and it finishes with just a touch of piney bitterness. No hop bomb here and no malt bomb either. It's very smooth drinking... and very balanced but in a way different to the many others that I've tried of the style. And with it being in the low range abv-wise for a DIPA, I find it's pretty darned drinkable. I think that if I wanted to introduce a DIPA to a beer drinker who's just starting to explore the world of Microbrews, this would be the one. Good solid but not overpowering flavours that are nicely balanced and make for a pleasurable drinking session. I like what HOTD did here. I like it a lot.
3.7 Tap@Beavertown Extravaganza 2017, London -pours orange amber with a white head. Comprises sweet tropical fruits, prominent grapefruit, tangerine, citrus peel, with good malty backbone, caramel, toffee, resinous hoppy, pine needles, bitter finish.
3.7 22 oz bottle poured. As I pour this, and enjoy the first few sips, I wonder why I haven't rated this yet, but the more I think about it, this might be the only time I've ever had the original Blue Dot. Not the freshest bottle in the world, so I'll be sure to get more notes on a fresher bottle, but this is still drinking nicely. Thicker, glowing golden orange pour. Very little head. A very bready malt constant with this imperial. No signature, standout hop quality here, at least opposed to the interesting malt bill. A quiet, but lingering bitterness. Last taste is a cracker grain. Overall, a smooth, flavorful, and original double IPA. Gonna get this on draft during my next visit to the brewery. I'd love to try this at peak freshness.
3.1 Gold pour, white head. Hazy, lightly hoppy aroma. Flavor of toasted malt, and dry floral hops. Alright.
3.6 Pours a hazy dark amber/copper from a bottle. Big fruit nose, citrus, stone fruit and melon are all present and accounted for. Similar flavor but with a nice but not cloying sweetness. Not very bitter at all, could've used a bit. Amazingly smooth, didn't realize there was rye in the grain bill til I read the description here, makes a lot of sense, nice big round mouthfeel. Pretty good beer.
3.6 Straw, sweet grain malts, light wood, unripe tropical fruits. Hazy gold, small, creamy, white head. Medium bitter. More bitter, unripe tropical fruits, mango, passion fruit, pineapple, sweet citrus fruits, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Decent IPA, nothing too spectacular though. Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza 2017, Canada Water.
3.5 Clear blond. Aroma and flavour have a nice malt / hop balance. Moderately sweet. Rather boozy tasting considering the abv.

4.5 On draft at the brewery! Aroma 9/10: hops hops hops! Dank, piney, beautiful hops Appearance 4 /5: opaque orange with slightly frothy and sticky head Palate 4 /5: moderate to heavy carbonation, not particularly sticky or thin - the perfect mouthfeel for an ipa Taste 9/10:,very hop forward - starts of incredibly bitter, but you get a lot of dank and grassy complexity. Finishes off a tad citrusy to round it out. Overall 19/20: I'm forcing the SO to sit here and wait for me to rate this beer because I love it so much. Does that say enough? Final: 4.5
3.3 On tap at Beavertown Extravaganza. Aroma has honey malt and some green apple. Taste is malty with generic earthy hops and resiny bitterness on the finish.

3.4 Sampled at Beavertown Extraganza. Pine, citrus nose. Flavour is mediumn sweet with citrus bitter finish.
3.7 At the source: pours deep golden with white head. Aroma is citrus pine and nuggets. Taste is bitter but not too much so. Old school but not too malty or sweet. Easy to drink and pretty good. Definite rye notes in there.
3.6 On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazed apricot amber with a thin white head. Soft citrus on the nose, a bit of musk, citrus, toast, malt. Dank weed on the nose, papaya, malt. Medium bodied, big spicy malt, toast, warm melon and spongy tropical fruit. Malt, a bit of citrus, toast, malt. Slow malt into the finish, a bit of grapefruit, toast, malt. Sticky and sweet, but the caramel fades to a low quality grapefruit bitterness.
4.0 Hazy orange with a thin off white head. Semi sweet nose smooth and full bodied. Lots of floral hop flavor and aroma
4.2 From tap at Hair of The Dog, Portland. Aroma is juicy fruity hops, sweetish slowly riping fruits, pine resin, soft malt, grapefruit, citrussy with orange. Flavour is moderate sweet with a bitter finish. Body is medium. Wow, such a smooth and balanced IIPA, lovely example of the style.
3.4 Pours a golden color with a white head. Fruity malty aroma and gay. Hopped around. Sam we appearance
4.4 Thanks Frank! Bottle to tulip. The appearance was a golden sunshine yellow color with a two finger’s worth of white foamy head. Seemed to really take it’s time in dissipating, I didn’t mind. Some heavy lace ran here and there. The aroma spoke of some sweet to soft spicy rye, light floral hop tones, some herbal, light citrus, a touch of resin, light passion fruit and ended with some sweet fresh grassy tones. The flavor came between the sweet to spicy portions and then subtly allowing the passion fruit to make a light presence. Not much of an aftertaste, seemed somewhat fresh piney to that passion fruit with a cohesive piney to grassy and passion fruit sweet sort of finish. The palate was about medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt spot on. ABV felt as projected. Bitterness was there yet contained enough to not impart much hop abrasion. Overall, well, damn! I totally understand the hype train behind this one. I’m jumping on!
4.0 Aroma is passionfruit, grapefruit, and lemongrass . Taste is light grains which are consumed by flour, fresh and both bitter and earthy hop notes. Appearance is a lightly hazy hold with a thin pearl head that retains well.
