3.8 Heavy sweet caramel and bread malts, sweet citrus fruits. Clear gold, small, creamy, white head. Sweet molasses, barrel flavours, sweet caramel, wood, bourbon, more sweet citrus fruits, tropical fruits, soft carbonation. Beautiful Barley Wine, rich and complex. Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza 2017, Canada Water.
4.3 Świetny barley wine. Pite tylko z tapa. Aromat przypomina musującą multiwitaminkę, a smak i wygląd bez komentarza 👌
3.7 Draft @ Borefts 2017. Deep amber brownish color, mostly clear. No head to speak of. Aroma's: sweetish, woody, fruity/alcohol. Retronasal it's alcoholic, fruity, wood. Flavor is moderate sweet, vanilla, woody.. Rather strong alcohol feel. Medium bodied. Long finish, woody and somewhat bitter.
4.3 @Borefts 2017 van tap schenkt als siroop, bruin met lichte kraag, aroma van bourbon, zacht, redelijk zoet, alcohol, smaken zijn redelijk zoet, glad/zacht, vanille, bourbon, donker fruit, graan, eiken, vanille, siroopachtig/romig mondgevoel, enorm smaakvol, super
3.7 Sampled from tap at Borefts 2017. Clear, golden amber with a white head. Sweetish, malty and slightly fruity aroma of caramel, honey, sultanas and oak. Very sweet, malty and a little fruity taste of caramel, honey, sultanas, oak and vanilla, followed by a long, moderately bitter, noticeably boozy and slightly woody finish. Full body, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice!
4.3 Sweet alcoholic, a bit like sherry, some spices, sweet, honey, alcoholic bitter in the finish. Heavy, but very nice!
4.2 Taster @ Borefts bierfestival, Bodegraven. Murky golden, clear, no head. Big cask character, vanilla, bourbon, peach, apricot, apple, fig, medium bitter, quite alcoholic, dry. Afterward lingers nicely. Low carbonation, big body, soft mouthfeel
4.1 On draft @BBF17, tasted side-by-side with regular Fred and Cherry Fred. Amber colored, small head. Fruity nose, vanilla, wood, malts, alcohol. Massive wood, vanilla, and alcohol in flavor. Good, and better than the base beer, but too alcoholic to drink more than a glass of.
3.9 Tap at Borefts 2017 day 1. Clear dark golden with thin white ring head. Big sweet and dry barley malts, leathery bitter, caramels. Big sweet and strong bitter. Full body and low carbonation. Buttery, boozy powerhouse.
3.8 Sampled from draft at Borefts 2017. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a white head. Caramel, dried fruits, oak, pine, resin. Bit of booze.
3.8 Tap at Borefts 2017. Clear golden with small white head. Lots of vanilla and wood, toffee, caramel, pine, resin, lots of herbs and alcohol. Over medium sweet and herbal/woody bitter. Full bodied with low carbonation. Nice but a bit too bitter for me.
4.8 On tap at beavertown extravaganza 2017.Aroma of caramel, dried apricot. Taste of nuts, wood, caramel, oak. Medium sweet & medium sour taste.
3.4 On tap at Beavertown Extravaganza. Aroma has musty wood barrel, cellar funk and some fruits. Taste is woody, dusty and musty. Not as good as the regular version.

3.5 Tap at Beavertown extravaganza. Nose is citrus, orange, apricot. Palate is caramel, orange, apricot. Not bad.
3.7 Tap. Murky orange color with no head. Aroma is prunes, raisins, peach. Taste is a bit muddled peach, wood, raisins, a bit tannic. Oily mouthfeel, low carbonation. Good oney but not as great as expected.
4.2 Pours a deep murky amber colour with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is heavy in caramel and toffee, fairly boozy. Taste is rich and malty sweet, reminds me of butterscotch. Full body, creamy mouthfeel, and mild carbonation.
4.4 Vintage 2008. Powerful aroma of caramel, nuts, raisins, dried apricot, dates & wood. Clear reddish brown with long lasting creamy head. Medium sweet & medium sour taste. Medium body, creamy texture & soft carbonation.
3.4 On draft at the source. Pours cloudy brownish red with a thick white head. Strong oak notes, caramel, penny candy,. Very tannic oak flavor, sawdust. Light body, stronger carbonation than the non barrel version. Over oaked.
4.2 Bottle at Hair of the Dog. Amber color, white head. Bitter taste with raisins, hops, ripe fruits, oak, bourbon, a bit of alcohol and pine. Bitter finish with citrus, raisins, ripe fruits, resin, hops, oak, bourbon, vanilla and grass. Exquisite brew.
4.4 Pours hazy dark golden to orange with creamy white head. Fruity, malty, wood, lots of dried fruit, vanilla. Quite sweet with a light sourish note and bitterness in finish. Oily, soft carbonation, complex. Full bodied. Great one.
4.2 LCI. From tap @ACBF2017. Very soft sweet barley wine with a subtle hint of wood. Not too sweet, just perfectly balanced with the wood tones. Lovely!
3.8 @ ACBF 2017. Goudgeel bier met koperen schijn. Lichte fijne schuimkraag.
4.1 Sampled at ACBF 2017, Vichte. Hazy golden pour with a fine-grained off-white head. Notes of whiskey, cherries, light smoke, caramel, hoppy pine resin, brett bitterness and some other subtle brett notes. Full-bodied, medium carbonation.
4.2 Zeer malty aroma. In de smaak veel malt, maar ook hop en alcohol. De koppigheid geeft het aparte draai aan barrels wine. Top
4.3 At ACBF. Bubbly but fairly stable, medium thick, snow white head, hazy peach blonde with warm orangey hue. Strong bouquet of candied peaches, cognac, vanilla, lovely wood tannins, sweet white grapes, roses, honey liqueur. Sweet, fruity onset, melon, candied orange, pineapple, soft carbo, honeyish sweetness stretching out over a rounded, mellow caramelly malt sweet middle, eventually very vinous mouthfeel, full, with a woody finish including retronasal ’vanilla oak’, a dash of spicy hops, lingering residual sugary sweetness but most of all, a lot of calvados-like, expressive alcohol, heating the back of the mouth - perhaps a bit too sharply so, but still not wry or unpleasant in terms of flavor. I can see this improve a lot with age as the alcohol mellows a bit; in this young form a bit too boozy for my taste, but as a whole this is clearly a fantastic sipper, which I’d be more than happy to revisit.
4.1 0.355l bottle from 2008 shared with The Tasting Crew. Been looking forward to this! It’s really cloudy this, almost murky brown in the glass and it has a small quickly islandy and sidesticking off-white head. Lovely sweet vanillaish aroma with buttery caramel, lots of oxidation, brown cheese, a little bit of minty toothpaste, ripe old berries, some alcohol and dark caramel. Lovely stuff. The carbonation level is just below average, small bubbles an it has a kinda sticky oily mouthfeel. Lovely sweet and oxidized flavors with lots of raisin and dates sweetness. Really concentrated and sharp flavors that just tastes spot on. It’s definitely woody also, really flavorful and a really nice creation. 08.06.2013
3.7 Aroma is very caramel, candy - extra malty. No hear or carbonation. Somewhat astringent. Flavours is awesome, sweet but well balanced. Caramel maltsand a bit of booze.
4.4 Seriously this is the best. Great nose with a strong white wine wine nose. Great body and overall a great beer.
