3.8 Can bought at the Yakima Beer Shoppe. Aroma: Fragrant. Floral, mikan, ruby grapefruit, passion fruit. Palate: Quite smooth, medium bodied; filling but without heaviness. Flavor: Ruby grapefruit, some passion fruit, apricot, grassy hop on the finish. Comment: Wow! I haven’t had this for years, but I now I really appreciate how well-made it is. Reasonably priced to boot. This calls for a road trip to the brewery.
3.4 [3/3/15] Draught at Hales Ales Brewery & Pub in Seattle. Clear golden. Aroma of citric and floral hops and mild maltiness. Flavor has mild sweetish malt and nice bitter citric hops. Medium-bodied. Nice.
3.2 This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a hazy orange color with a light carbonation to be seen rising to fill a rapidly dieing one finger white foamy head. Light lacing started to cling and then slid. The smell had a decent sweet caramel maltiness running along into a light citrus blend. The taste was a combined sweet caramel and citrus aspect to it. A light citrus aftertaste leads to a semi-dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. It was nicely carbonated. Overall, I say this was a pretty good APA that I could have again.
3.0 12oz can picked up at Total Wine Cloudy golden with a big off-white head, some lacing. Aroma is floral, dusty and herbal. Flavors are herbal, earthy and lemon peel Ok but I wouldn’t have another one.
1.0 Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tumbler on 05.09.14. A: Orange/red. No head or lacing. Chunks were floating in it. S: Biscuit, citrus. T: Burnt flavor, citrus, metal. M: Flat. O: I thought that this was a bad bottle because of the sediment, but it is bottle fermented according to the label. This is the second go around with this beer. The first one that I had was the same with chunks and all so maybe they have QC problems. Like the first time, this was also a drain pour.
3.1 12oz bottle in Seattle. Solid nw-style pale, mild hops by today’s standard. But sweet and tasty
2.9 12oz bottle, not the ultra patriotic can. Medium head fades to a moderate lacing. Orange colored beer. Clear and filtered throughout. Its got too much caramel and too much American bitter hops, not my fav. Lots of dusty British malt as well. These are the exact Pale Ales I don’t like.
3.4 Bottle (12oz $1.30) Hazy golden brown with two finger head that fades. Smell citrus. Tastes bready with the hops kicking in little in the end with a slight metal taste,
1.1 Barely avoided being voted as a drainpour by five tasters at the brewpub in Seattle. Seemed to be artificially flavored. A keeper. Meaning, please keep it, do not serve it any more.
3.1 12oz bottle, purchased from Brennan’s in Madison during GTMW. Mostly hazy golden orange color. Fine particles suspended in the body hazing it up. Thin off-white head, leaving good thicker lace. Medium body. Kind of slick texture. Kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Kind of a bready malt flavor, lightly grainy. Lighter on the hop. Some light pine, herbal hop. Little bit of citrus. Moderate sweet taste, light bit of bitterness. OK, kind of sweeter malt-forward pale ale (who knows how old it is). Luckily it’s not a big caramely malt sweetness though, it’s solidly pale.
2.8 Draught at Hales Ales Brewery and Pub, as Original Pale American Ale Cloudy golden color. Very dry Ale, with light aroma, light caramel flavor, hints of lemon peel; fairly bitter but a bit metallic in the end. Not exciting.
3.2 bottle at convention in seattle. some hoppiness. dry and some lace on fruity body. passable.
3.5 Bottle. Peachy orange hops and caramel malt aroma. Slightly hazed golden orange with a large off-white head. Orange peel and herbal hops, and biscuity caramel malt flavor. Medium body, moderate carbonation.
3.5 Orange color nice hoppy aroma. Solid flavor good but not the best after taste
2.6 12oz can. Clear amber color with ivory head. Polycarbonate, astringent tea leaf aromas. Medium bodied with average co2. Pale malt, polycarbonate, mild floral, bready yeasty flavors____less than good
3.4 Bottle to glass. A gorgeous cloudy amber color. A sharp, fruity aroma. Medium carbonation. Taste is briefly fruity/sweet, but quickly followed by a tray bitterness that lingers on the tongue a bit. Good!
3.4 On the 10th day of Christmas 2013...Pours a copper orange with a tan head. Aroma is citrus, floral, earthy and light notes of caramel. Taste is mild bitters with underlying sweetness making itself known. Medium bodied, slick and smooth. A very enjoyable pale ale that’s more English then American.
3.1 12/23/2013. From bottle. Amber color with a white head. Caramel, malt and light citrus aromas. Bitter hop flavors with caramel. Nothing special really.
3.6 Bottle: Pours hazy, amber-gold with a creamy, off-white head. Scent is orange malt, fruit. Taste is caramel, orange-peel, citrus, malt. Nice mild bittering. Very good.
3.0 An average pale ale at best. Very little flavor and pretty bitter. Not very hoppy and pours a light yellow in color. Smells malty
3.4 Bottle. Orange malt and orange peel aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet orange malt and mild orange peel flavor. Pretty good.
3.0 Bottle. Pours golden, light amber with rocky white head, good lacing. Aroma: grass, cotton candy, light caramel. Taste: surprisingly bitter, slight sweetness, a little spicy citrus. Palate: Light body, thin texture, average carbonation, lasting bitter, somewhat astringent finish.
2.6 Pours bright golden finger white head. Smell grapefruit and a bit of tropical fruit. Taste hoppy floral and a citrusy grassy taste, bit of grain. Bit watery, lighter bodied. Ok
3.6 USA trip 2010, Seattle, bottle. Light fruity aroma, some corn, grass, floral hops, citrus, hazy to cloudy golden, nice creamy off-white head, stays a while, some lacing, nice combination of light bittersweet and light fruity sourness, light to medium body, creamy texture, taste continues in the finish maybe a bit more on the dry (bitter) side, very mild beer.
4.3 Serving: from tap at Vostok Dumpling House. Aroma: heavy, floral hops. Appearance: average-sized, creamy, off-white, initial head with very good lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Cloudy, dark-amber body. Taste: lightly bitter initial flavor and moderately sour, grapefruit finish with average duration. Palate: medium body with oily texture and soft carbonation. Overall: excellent. Great aroma, interesting taste.
3.3 12 oz can. Poured a clear yellow color, small white head. Aroma is a light hop and malt. Flavor is light hop, sweetness. This was a nice sweet, refreshing beer.
3.1 355ml bottle pours a slightly hazy golden color with a finger of white head that leaves some thin spotty lacing. Aroma is light fruits, light malts and mild hops. Taste is light fruits with some underlying malt sweetness and a mild citrus and grass hop bitterness. A decent and drinkable pale ale, but there are certainly better ones out there.
2.8 12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden color. Pearly head, some lacing. Aroma is sweet, with hints of honey. Some malt, very little hop aroma. Palate is thin. Overall this is a very drinkable ale, but unremarkable.
3.3 From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is smooth citrusy and light peachy. Bitter, smooth fruity and crisp hoppy peachy. Bitter and lasting lingering fruity finish.
3.2 12 oz. Well, a 12-oz bottle right now, but probably a couple dozen other times in the last 20 years, too. Why I’ve not rated this heretofore is a bit of a mystery to me. But here we go. Pours a hazy burnished dark gold with a thin little splotchy film of suds on top. Intermittent drippy lace. Mild grassy corn nutty nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Caramel, nuts, and grass on the mid palate. Very mild and easy drinking APA...probably not hoppy enough to really be an APA, but that’s alright. Good little beer.
