Half Pints Little Scrapper IPA

Half Pints Little Scrapper IPA

To admit that the brewer at Half Pints is a bit of a hophead is an understatement. This India Pale Ale is unabashedly hoppy, not only from the Amarillo hops we add to the brew kettle, but also from the northwest U.S. variety called Cascade that we add directly to the final tank. A firm toasted malt presence forms the background for all of these hops, and we're confident our Little Scrapper IPA could take other so-called IPA's to the mat if called upon to do so. Try it with a curry or a basket of beer battered fish & chips. Serve in a glass at 8 degrees celcius. Unpasturized.

3.9 Bottle into IPA glass. Aroma is good nice happy notes. Pours a nice golden colour with white head. Taste is great hops and nice dry toasty malt. Delicious beer.-- rated via 'Find A Beer' for Blackberry 10
3.4 Pours light copper with a thick but short lived white head. Floral and citrusy aroma advertise the burst of hoppy bitterness at the first sip. The flavour is well orchestrated but the aftertaste lingers into astringent instead of the citrus I expected. The aftertaste mellows as the beer warms up, but surprisingly a good deal of its flavour also fades.
4.2 I love the combination of citrus and bitter flavours in this beer! With a nice zippy level of carbonation this is a great refreshing beer for a hot day, and I could see it pairing well with grilled seafood, or perhaps lime tortilla chips and fresh guacamole.
3.5 Can - dark gold with a small head. Light grapefruit aroma and a dry grapefruit taste. Bitter finish.
3.5 Poured from a bottle shared in the park it is a clear holden color with s frothy head. The aroma is flowery with a hint if citrus the tasteis a strop g bitter citrus flavor that lingers Ianthe palate
3.6 From a 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear gold with an off white head. Fruity nose. Flavors of citrus. Bitter finish.
3.4 Aroma is citrus, lemon grass, earthiness, clove and a pe sweet graininess. Taste and lightly roasted malts with a deep hop presence. The bitterness maintains to finish with light/medium tartiness. Appearance is a cloudy gold/orange. The pearl head is thin and retains moderately.
3.2 Poured from 341mL bottle. Clear orangey yellow with white head. Resiny hops balanced with minor sweet biscuit malt. Medium body.
3.6 Re-rating this. I’ve had this beer countless times, always a go to at local places in Winnipeg. When fresh, this is still a great, middle-of-the-road IPA - full bodied, nice bitterness with citrus notes, flavourful yet drinkable.
3.8 On tap at The Underground, pours a clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma brings out light piney notes and biscuity notes. Flavour brings out an excellent balance of smooth piney hops, some resin and crisp biscuity malt. Nicely hoppy, without any astringency. Excellent IPA.
3.1 The Amarillo hops give the aroma a tropical note which is not cancelled out by the citrus Cascade. Rather, the citrus comes through in the flavor. Bready malts carry the weight and the beer finishes towards the dry side. I wouldn’t go out of my way for this but not bad. Thanks cards04!
Thanks Luke!
3.5 Pretty good IPA with lots of bite. Getting mostly pine and resin bitterness from the hops. Something for hop heads who feel like an ibu punch in the mouth.
3.7 lots going on here - you know you are drinking a serious IPA with the first sip, a touch of carmel, nice hops, a bit of a bite, average head, not too much alcohol, surprisingly rich mouth feel
3.1 Modest head and lighter lager body with a bit of decent fogginess. Aroma of hops with plenty of bread. Flavour is nice dry hops with a sour finish. A good, balanced IPA with a hint of complexity.
3.5 This is pretty solid. Pours orange, clear, with lit miter head and a finger or so of clumpy, frothy lacing. Nose is a bit quiet, some breakfast tea. Notes of cereal, some light fruit, lots of piney bitterness. Taste is light sweet medium/heavy bitter. Full ish body with lots of carbonation and a pretty long bitter finish.
3.4 Bottle at Community (old Brewsters in Castledowns), 6%. Clear golden amber pour with a weak, white head that bubbles away to a ring. Aroma is strong with hoppy overtones, mlid citrusy, but mostly piney, and earthy. Taste is more of the same, dry hops (resinous, piney stickyness) and toasted bread dough malts dominating the flavour, with a hint of sweetness. Definitely comes off as a british ipa despite the northwest hops (Cascade, Amarillo) - not a ton of grapefruit on the nose or palate- but the finish isnt overly dry, but balanced and satisfying. Delicious.
3.5 Finally, my first beer from Manitoba. Bottle courtesy of toffsbury. Pours hazy amber with nearly no head. Aroma of raisins and citrus fruits. Slightly fruity taste, with some spice, pine, and a dry bitter finish. Good enough IPA to make me willing to try other stuff from these guys, if I ever get the chance.
4.3 Au Brothers Beer Bistro. 341ml. 6% 50 IBU. Blonde foncée. Nez floral. Fruité. Pamplemousse. Agrume. Un peu de malt. Bouche : légèrement grillé. Houblonné. Agrume. Orange. Belle amertume. Malté. Orange confite. Très très bien.
4.1 Everything a good IPA should be; great piney, grapefruit hops and rich malt on the nose. Aromas follow through on the palate with an appetizing bitter finish. A definite "go-to" for IPA lovers.
3.5 Decent well-rounded ipa. A little citrus, though this isn’t quite as fresh as it ought to be, and lots of malt. Pours orange with good head and lacing. Average carbonation. Finishes bitter with residual sweetness. Bottle at wvrst.
3.3 Bottle at Bottlescrew Bill’s Old English Pub. Pours lightly hazy amber with a medium to large, off-white creamy head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is pine, resin, and citrus hops, honey and cookie malt, apple esters, and light diacetyl notes. Flavor is medium to moderate hops and bitterness, light esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
3.6 it's got an orange body with a white head. The taste really lingers in the mouth which is great since its a highly enjoyable beer.
3.9 A pretty good IPA. I picked this up (at a surprising expense) at C’est What? in Toronto. Very bitter, slightly unbalanced. Rich in aroma with a brownish red coloration.
3.6 Very low carbonation with this on tap. Pretty much an average IPA with a bit more flavour and less bitterness.
3.4 Bottle - 341ml. Hazy amber body with a thin off-white creamy/frothy head. Fresh hoppy aroma with melon and grapefruit hints. Its sharp hoppy taste carries citrusy, woody, and grainy notes. Ends with a good bitter finish. Enjoyable.
3.5 341 ml bottle. Pours amber in colour, with huge frothy off white head. Nicely balanced ipa. Cascade hops balanced with solid caramel malt.
