Bottle from 2009, 11.5% ABV.
Pours a clear dark golden, red liquid with a brown head that disappears quite quickly. Aroma is of berries, caramel, dark sugars, molasses, sweet raisins. Taste is sweet, round alcohol, rich caramel and malty feel. Complex caramel sugars. Still good amount of small round carbonation bubbles. Really nice! :))
Piana drobna, gęsta, pozostaje wraz z piciem mała warstewka. Barwa rubinowa, opalizująca. Aromat bogaty słodycz, melasa, miód, daktyle, rodzynki, figi. Jeden łyk wystarczy żeby wykleić podniebienie. Alkoholu nie czuć w ogóle.
Bottle at hopaholic. Deep reddish amberish copper colour head disappears immediately. Nose is sweetness light molasses, faint coffee. As it gets warmer the foffee nptes disappear and caramel takes its place. Taste is light sweetness, strong cane sugary notes. Strong, rich molasses. Caramel, burn sugars, raisins. Low carbonation smooth palate. Very nice and complex. A perfect dessert.

brown colour, minimal sized beige-ish head; aroma and taste of dried plum, dates maybe apricot and raisins soaked in cognac, walnut, some chocolate and herbal liqueur notes; great barley wine!
Kicsi, gyorsan elolvadó hab, barna szín. Karamelles, aszalt gyümölcsös illatok, némi konyakos aromával. Erős, édes karamelles, aszalt szilvás, aszalt barackos ízvilág, némi konyakos aromával. Testes, enyhén kesernyés, alig szénsavas. Nagyon finom desszertsör, de egy picit túl van húzva.
Pianka nieduża, szybko redukująca się do pierzynki. Barwa rubinowo czerwona, opalizująca. W aromacie sporo kontrastujących nutek - z jednej strony karmel, toffi i rodzynki, z drugiej kandyzowane owoce i przyprawy a z trzeciej czerwone wino, wiśnie i taniny. W smaku również wielowymiarowe, jest winogronowo daktylowa słodycz, jest likierowość, miód i toffi, jest kwaskowość porzeczek i wina, jest lekka pestkowo migdałowa goryczka, w posmakach cierpkość starej beczki, pikantność przypraw i kojarząca się z syropem na kaszel ziołowość. Alkohol rozgrzewający, ładnie ułożony, niskie do średniego, drobne wysycenie, pełne i lepkie, choć niegęste w odbiorze.
Złożone i ciekawe piwo, warte spróbowania, dla mnie odrobinę przeładowane i zbyt ziołowe, ale doceniam.
Flaska från SB. Mörkt brunröd med beige skum. Doft av kola, bourbon och karamell. Torkad frukt och kola i smaken.
Vackert rubinröd. I doften finns en liten syrlighet av röda bär och rödvin, men ’ven sötare torkade frukter. I smaken märker man inte av syrligheten utan här är det bara söta torkade frukter och massor av russin i eftersmaken. Rund och mjuk.

Vielen Dank an Erzengel! Trübes orange braunes Bier mit einer mittelgroßen beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch kräftig süß malzig, karamellig, reifes Obst, Vanille und Holz. Geschmack süß malzig, kräftiger Körper, süß schokoladig, Vanille, holzig, leicht alkoholisch. Gut!

Deep brown colour on the body, small and thin light beige head on top, with average retention.
Aroma has caramel and lots of dark fruits, light alcohol and vanilla, plums.
Taste is sweet with plums, dates, sugars, ash, caramel.
Medium body with soft carbonation.
Quite good.
10.4% ABV, Batch Nr. 221B-1, MHD 15.09.18. Intense sticky malty nose. The beer starts very sticky with lots of sweet caramel, herbs, butterscotch. Intense creamy roasty. Moderate bitterness in the aftertaste, fresh and round. Roasted hazelnuts, caramelised almonds. Great round and intense thick. Full and rich, great!
Bottle from Saveur-Biere.com - Color: deep dark brown beer with no carbonation and medium brown head. Smell: caramel and sweet malt domination. Brown sugar and sugar cane notes with rum and raisin notes. Impressive nose. Taste: full body with caramel malt and brown sugar with toffee domination and rum barrel notes. Fruity with raisin and plums. Good attenuation. Alcohol finish. Aftertaste: caramel, rum, astringent alcohol and sugar.
Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of toffee, dried fruits, caramel, popcorn. Taste is toffee, vanilla, almonds, caramel, salt licorice, dried fruits, raisins. Oily mouthfeel. Medium carbonation, salty somehow.
Brun med dragning åt rött. Lusbeige skum. Dofter och smak av karamell, torkad frukt, malt och lättare alkoholsötma.

App: rejält mörk rödaktig mahogny färg med ett svårbyggt gulnat skum.
Aroma: Oj vad mycket farin! Eller är det honung med soja? Soja, farin, karamel/sirap med djupa toner av plommon/sviskon och romdränkta russin plus klistrig alkohol. Udda men spännande.
Taste: Stor sötma av knäck och sirap som balanseras bra med lite lätt rostade av kaffe och sötsyrliga plommon och beska med pomerans och örter. Russin, lakrits och läder är med i mixen också.
Palate: Stor men ändå slimmad och följsam med mjuk kolsyra och viskös/klibbig textur.
Overall: Sveriges bästa brittiska barley wine? Tydlig men mjuk alkohol, hög sötma, bra maltkaraktär, inte för forcerad humlekaraktär. Känns som en superkandidat att slänga i källaren några år till. Men visst fan går det att dricka nu.
330ml bottle from Systembolaget, vintage 2014, abv 10.4%. Murky brown with a fizzy tan head that disappears quickly, leaving no lacing. A lot of raisins in the aroma, Sangria and dried fruit, malt and dough. Smooth, sweet and rounded mouthfeel, mildly carbonated. Very sweet taste, raisins dominate, toffee, honey and dates. Too sweet.

Fizzy, nice balanced
Dark brown, decent head. Aroma: oxidised green apple, oats, tobacco, tomato juice. Taste has similar notes, plus some wood, honey, more pronounced tobacco, leather, green leaves and raisins. Bittersweet. Velvety body. Complex and unexpectedly good.
Recht dick und ebenso stark mit angenehmer Trinkbarkeit, etwas an Würze, einiges Früchten und einer gewissen Säure. Vollmundig, dem Alkohol durchaus zugetan und leicht getreidig. Dennoch belebend und befriedigend.
Bottle from a trade. The beer has got a hazy dark brown colour with a smooth head and smooth body. Aroma of barley, malt and bread. Taste of intense barley, cookies, barrel, malt, rum, roisins, straw and fruits. Intense finish. Nice and good one.
Flaska på Örebro Öl & Whisky Festival. Flaska från 2014 - tyvärr hade flaskorna från 2013 redan tagit slut innan jag gav mig på den! Denna fick jag tag i i slutminuterna, tack för det! Brundisig med brunbeiget skum. Doft av russin och choklad. Återspeglas fint i smaken tillsammans med ekfat, honung och kola. Mm vad gott! Hamnar högt på listan av dagens öl.
bottle @ home. 2010 vintage. brown color with redish notes and a small but quite stable tan head and really nice lacings. Aroma is grainy, malty and with a clean medium caramel sweet note at the same time with moderate vinous notes and warming alcohol. Balancing dark fruits (raisins, dates, figs), toffee, dark syrup. Smooth and sweet texture with long duration, increasing mouth feel and then a dry but still very very smooth and delicate honey after taste. Initially lots of toffee, some honey, whipped cream,light vinous figs, rye bread, herbs, sweet red fruits, a little licorice and hint of milk chocolate. It has aged incredibly well and will probably continue to do so. It has developed a fantastic smooth texture where the your beer was sour and harsh in comparison, and is still just slightly vinous!
A barley wine with firm and fairly durable foam is rare, but it is nonetheless what the Baron has. It draws the finest lace on the side of the glass, leaving carbon sparkling cascades from the scattered islands of foam who refuses to drop their take from this beautiful copper red ale. It exudes an incredibly good aromas of dried fruits (prune and raisin) and the taste is velvety and delightfully of fruit and some light caramel and have weak associations with port wine. I think it will gain much by long-term storage, and I annoyed me to take just this one bottle that I have stored for about 1 year. I should probably have had some bottles lying in another 3-5 years, for here is really a possibility that it becomes something heavenly ale. Long fruity aftertaste keep alive very long and slowly heat comes from its 9% alcohol creeping in the mouth. A very light and unobtrusive hop bitterness with floral notes flying past and maintains all the aroma and taste sensations for even longer time. It’s probably one of the most accomplished barleys I have long tasted as though alcohol sharpness certainly will quiet down after a few more years of storage, I must admit that after only one year is drinkable and in the top.
Gusher. Mahogany color, beige head. Prunes nose, wood, brown sugar, licorice, light spicy. Heavy sweet taste, caramel, prunes, sweet licorice, coffee, rich malty. Full body, soft to average, oily texture.
Mörkt rödbrun. Lätt gult skum. Skumgodis i doft. Fyllig smak med torkad frukt. Kort eftersmak, inget man minns
Bottled. Pours hazy deep brown with a small beige head. Aroma of dark dried fruit, caramel and spicy notes. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry and slightly bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice Barley. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Flaska, vintage 2013 8,7%. Mörkt brun med röda inslag. Smutsvitt skum. Dofter av karamell, torkad frukt, malt, fikon i konjak, läder. Smakinslag av karamell, trä, sötlakrits, russin, söt frukt, läder... Härlig kropp, fyllig. Värmande alkohol. Karamellig avslutning. Gräddig och mjuk munkänsla. En fantastisk öl. Ren och skär njutning.
